Primordial Monarch: Apocalyptic Evolution

Chapter 8: Revenant

Somewhere in the universe, there was a blast followed by a blinding light which was a mix of red and black. Within the blast, a silhouette appeared, it was dressed in a warrior's armour and carried a huge sword on it's back.

Several auras dashed towards where the explosion had occurred, from human like creatures to weird creatures, they all flew towards the area of explosion. The silhouetted who had his eyes closed, suddenly opened them, his eyes were a vivid red as he seem to look past the people rushing towards his location, towards a distant world.

"Guess, the next monarch has been chosen"

The silhouette dissipated into stardust as his aura disappeared. Those that were rushing towards the location stopped at the periphery as they watched the raging storm of black and purple energy.

"Why did aether energy erupt here?" Someone asked.

"The only time aether energy erupted was when a new monarch was chosen and the last one died"

"That means, a new monarch has been chosen, huh?"

"Yes, but the problem is which world?"

"It won't be easy to start searching through the whole billions of worlds"

Several voices said one after the other.

Zen and Sakura were walking along the street as they looked around vigilantly. Some aberrants might charge out and they both would try and kill them.

Zen had leveled up to five while Sakura had leveled up to 4, a hundred experience point away from reaching level 5.

Nyct was not with them as Zen had sent him into his nether space. A ball of purple and black energy was floating on Zen's right hand. This ball of energy was aether, which he had gotten control of as a result of his second gift awakening.

[Aether: Limitless]

Aether had replaced his mama, instead of using mana as an energy source, he used aether instead, and it was unlimited.

"Where are we going?" Sakura asked.

"Well, let's reach the radio station first, check if we can get some news..." Zen said after some thought before he took a side glance at Sakura. "... Do you have somewhere you want to go?"

Sakura didn't immediately answer as she stared ahead for a while before shaking her head, "I don't have anywhere"

"You lived with your parents, yeah?" Zen suddenly asked which startled Sakura.

Sakura looked at Zen's expression and when she didn't see anything, she nodded in agreement .

"Where ?" Zen asked again.

"Asakusa..." Sakura answered after some hesitation.

"Okay, let's go there first before we go to a radio station" Zen said which caused Sakura to pause in her steps as she watched as Zen kept moving forward.

When Zen noticed that Sakura wasn't by his side, he stopped and turned around, he saw that she was rooted at a spot and staring at him. His lips curled into a smile.

"You can't hide your worry from me, Sakura..." Zen said as he walked back towards the girl and caressed her auburn hair. Sakura just stared back at him and Zen began to grow conscious under her gaze.

His playing it cool facade broke as he scratched the back of his neck and coughed a few times and began to shuffle on his feet.

Sakura saw this and a smile suddenly adorned her lips, she stepped towards Zen and kissed him on the cheeks, stunning the young man. She grabbed his hand and continued to walk forward.

Unknown to the duo, a figure was watching them from a high vantage point a few kilometers away. "Two teenagers?"

The figure was a woman with red hair dresser in medieval armour and carried a spear on her back. She was not the only standing in the area, six other people were standing around her and they wore the same kind of armour.

"Boss, should we intercept them?" The silver haired guy with a black nose mask asked. He carried a pair of daggers on his waist.

"Do not engage them, if they come around our area, let them pass in peace... I'm getting some bad vibes from the young man" the woman said as her hand was shaking but no one noticed.

A black haired woman stared at the woman with mockery, "they are just two teenagers and beside we have more numbers"

"Raven, no one is as daredevil as you... If you want to die, I won't stop you" the red haired woman said which caused the expression of everyone to changed.

Raven frowned, "Scarlet, what did you see? "

Everyone in this group knew that the red haired woman had the Seer's gift, she could see the future of any individual. What she sees is not 100% correct, though.

"I saw a throne built on a mountain of corpses, and the corpses were not limited to humans, there were other creatures"

Hearing the woman's words caused a shiver to run through everyone's spine. Raven's eyes shined as she turned her head and stared towards Zen's direction.

Scarlet saw this and sighed, "don't cause trouble"

"I'm not, I just want to feel him up close..." Raven said as she looked back at Scarlet. "... Besides, your gift is sometimes not 100% accurate"

Hearing what Raven said, Scariet didn't say anything but her guts were telling her that what she saw was completely true. Zen had the fate of a conqueror, what shocked her the most was the feeling of wanting to serve him with her life. She decided not to tell anyone about this and suppressed the feeling.

"Hmm?" Zen's danger Sense trigger and he looked towards a certain direction.

"What's wrong?" Sakura asked after seeing Zen frowning.

"Nothing, it felt like we were being spied on" Zen answered as he activated his appraisal eye and looked around. Aside from hidden aberrants, there nothing else.

As he was about to deactivate his appraisal eyes, his eyes stopped on a lean figure in the distance. It was not moving, it just stood there with it's back turned towards them, the aberrants around it seem to avoid the area around it.

[Name: Revenant]

[The evolved form of Aberrants, compared to aberrants, Revenants can use skill techniques and have intelligence with high ESP]

[Current level: 1]

Seeing the prompt from the appraisal eye, Zen's eyes widened as he stared at the lean figure who suddenly turned around to stare. Zen had immediately grabbed Sakura and jumped into an alley.

The revenant turned it's head and stared at Zen's previous location and a smile appeared on its chapped lips. It's black eyes glimmered before it raised it's hand and pointed towards where Zen had been. Immediately, the aberrants around began to move there.

What do you think?
