Chapter 7: Left Behind
???'s POV
The hours pass and the day at the daycare draws to a close. Parents begin to arrive to pick up their kids.
Y/N supervises everything, making sure that each child is safely reunited with their parents. The other kids smile as they wave goodbye to y/n, Mr. Sun, and their friends.
Standing inside the playground. I watch as the daycare slowly empties until all the kids are gone.
"I'll see you tomorrow Sunrise," says y/n, waving goodbye.
"BYE Y/N!" Mr. Sun shouts. Mr. Sun and I watch as y/n walks out the door.
Sunrise's POV
I let out a sigh. "Alright. Time to clean up this mess!...This... very big... mess..."
Jade's POV
Mommy hasn't arrived yet and my sisters are missing. Now I know why Lana hates big buildings. But if I'm going to find them, I have to avoid the enemy...the only one known as Mr.Sun.
"Jade," a voice whispers. I turn around. It is Lana's friend, Sammy.
"Where's Izzy and Lana?" I whisper anxiously.
"They're fine," Sammy says, though he looks very frustrated.
"What about mommy?" I ask.
"I don't know," Sammy replies, now sounding angry.
"Why didn't she come for us?" I ask, confused.
Sammy sighs. "I don't know."
"Why?" I ask.
"I just... I just don't know," Sammy answers, "now come on, we need to find your sisters."
Sam leads me around until we find Izzy and Lana under the playground. Izzy is crying and Lana is holding her in her arms.
Lana's POV
"Is she okay?" Sam asks quietly.
I look up. There's Jade. She is okay.
"She's scared that we will never go home," I explain.
The four of us go silently as we hear the sound of the bells jingling on Mr.Sun's shoes. Sam looks at me, Izzy and Jade.
"We need to find a way out of here," Izzy whispers.
"I know," Sam says quietly. Sam looks around the room, seeming to be searching for a way out.
"We're all gonna die and no one knew we were here!" Jade whimpers.
I roll my eyes.
"We won't die Jade..." Sam says, sounding unamused.
We reach the entrance door, Sam carefully pushes it open and looks outside to make sure it is safe. He sighs in relief, and he pulls me, Izzy and Jade outside of the daycare with him, and he gently closes the door. "Let's try to avoid the bots and other animatronics," Sam whispers.
"Are they gonna hurt us?" Izzy whimpers.
"You never know," Sam replies.
We walk through the building silently. Hopefully we don't get caught.
"Hey!" Monty calls, "What are you four doing here?"
"Run." Sam murmurs.
The four of us run. We run as fast as we can towards the entrance. But when we get there, it is blocked. We have to turn around and find another exit.
Meanwhile...
Sunrise's POV
Phew! That was a lot of cleaning! Especially with that food stain on the wall. And I'm still wondering how it even got there. I look around. Where are those running footsteps sounds coming from?
I walk outside of the daycare and peek over the stair rail. Sam, Jade, Izzy and Lana are running through the pizza plex with Monty chasing behind them.
I sigh in frustration and jump down in front of Monty. "Monty! Why are you chasing those kids?" I ask, frustrated.
Monty raises a brow. "Those were kids?"
I give an unamused glare. "Yes Monty. Those were kids."
"Oh..." says Monty
"Oh." I say mimicking Monty.
Monty is silent for a moment and he scratches his head. "Uhh.... Sorry for the misunderstanding, Sunrise. I'll keep an out for them!"
"No, I will keep an out for them," I say firmly, "the kids are my job. Not yours."
Monty nods his head, understanding. "I'll leave you to it."
Monty goes back to walking around the pizza plex. As for me... I have to go search for the kids. I look around the entire pizza plex. I can't find them. Where are they? Where did they go?
"Looking for something Sunrise?" Roxanne asks, "because I may have it with me."
"Really?" I ask, getting my hopes up.
"Yeah," Roxanne answers, "An eight year old brought some of your Legos onto my track."
"So that's where they disappeared to..." I mutter.
"Yup," says Roxanne.
"Hey Roxanne, you wouldn't happen to have seen any kids running around here have you?" I ask.
Roxanne shakes her head. "Nope. I was busy fixing my hair."
"Oh..." I tap my fingers together. "Well uh, I'll just, uh, keep looking. Let me know if you see anything."
"Will do!" says Roxanne.
I sigh and go back to searching for the kids. They can't be too far can they?
Jade's POV
We were halfway to the exit. But Izzy dropped to the floor. She was scared. He scared all of us. Those bells. There they are again. And it can only mean one thing. Him. Mr.Sun.
Sammy immediately gets protective and stands in front of us, holding up his fists.
"S-Sam," Mr. Sun says gently, holding his hands up, "It's okay, I'm not here to hurt anyone. I just want to help."
Sammy slowly lowers his fists.
"Monty scared her..." I murmur.
Sunrise's POV
"I can imagine he did," I say softly. I kneel down so that I am eye level with the children.
"Mr.Sun...where's mommy?" Lana asks worriedly.
I look around. "I don't know Lana. But for now, let's get you four back to the daycare where it's safe. That means you too, Sammy."
Sam hesitates for a moment before nodding. I carefully pick up Izzy off the floor, and I guide the children back to the daycare. Once there, I set out the sleeping bags, putting them to bed.
"Mr. Sun," Jade calls quietly.
I look at Jade. "Yes Jade?"
"Thank you," Jade says.
I smile at Jade. "You're welcome, Jade."
I stay by their side the entire night.
Hey, does this put me in first place now?
