Chapter 7: You heard it right
The following day, Terry woke up in the time since he had gone to bed earlier. One hour later, he found Rebecca waiting for him in front of the portal. While she hadn't awakened her trait, she was quite the looker, so a lot of people were looking at her with eyes filled with curiosity.
That portal was near the central plaza. Thanks to that, all that part of the city had been repaired by the strongest guild of the city: the dawn knights. Terry wondered why the guilds always had names that looked like video game guilds...
The quality of the items around was a bit better than the other stands, and the sellers didn't pay much mind to Terry. Maybe he should hunt for a few days inside in order to be bothered only once by the guild...
"It seems that you have been waiting for a while..." Terry said while frowning. "I didn't think that you would be that eager to come."
"Well... I heard stories about the dungeon, so I had a hard time sleeping," Rebecca forced a smile.
It was the most dangerous dungeon, so it was no surprise. Rebecca considered the possibility that she might die, so she must be in a really dire need of money.
"Didn't you awaken your trait yesterday?" Terry asked.
"No, I didn't cause any damage, after all," Rebecca replied.
Maybe Terry should help her and see what happens. Even if it was a useless trait, anything was better than nothing when it came to survival.
In any case, they entered the dungeon, and the temperature Increased. On the previous day, they were on a beach, and despite the tropical weather, the wind helped a lot. Still, now they appeared in the middle of a scorching desert, and Kai could see a volcano in the distance...
"Phew... today will be a difficult day," Terry said. "Finding the monsters here will be a bit different, right? Or maybe not..."
They appeared at the top of a dune, so they had an easy time looking around and seeing three Salamanders approaching. Terry was a bit surprised at their size since he only saw them in their processed form... they were one and a half meters tall creatures that were also three meters long. They could run on the desertic sand quite fast, and considering that their best attack was a middle-range fire breath, they were a problem.
Still, Terry dashed toward them without a care. When he was ten meters away, they opened their mouths and used Fire Breath, but then Terry hit the sand with his spear, making a lot of sand fly to their faces. He frowned when a wave of sand was stopped the flames and forced the beasts to close their mouths, he acted without thinking, but that was probably the best way to deal with them.
While the monsters were busy dealing with the sand, Terry beheaded two of them with his spear, and with a single slash... the weapon got fearsomely powerful in a matter of days...
The last creature tried to open its mouth, but then Terry threw his spear and made it pierce the interior with pinpoint precision...
"All my training paid off..." Terry said after he pulled off the spear and began to pull bodies toward Rebecca.
"Was this really your first time fighting them?" Rebecca asked.
"You must have heard plenty of things about the monsters. Even without facing them, you can imagine them fighting and think of countermeasures against them," Terry said. "Anyway, we need to look for the portal and stay close to it, and it will be bad if we only start to look for it when we get tired."
Terry looked around, but he didn't see anything in the dunes... since he could only see the top, he assumed that the portal was in some valley between two of those. Finding it will be a pain...

"Just get the magic stones. We will have to check all the valleys in the area first," Terry declared.
Rebecca nodded and began to work. The magic stones were a bit bigger than the others, so they probably could get an extra amount out of them. After getting the magic stones, they began to move between dunes since it was better to check them from the peak than go all the way downward.
First, they walked around a small area and slowly increased it. Fortunately, they found the portal after one hour... even so, they were already feeling pretty tired.
"Now I can understand why they had so many anti-heat cloaks being sold..." Rebecca said while moving her arms to create some wind to her face.
"Moving that much will only make things worse," Terry said and then checked his Wind Wand. frёewebηovel.cѳm

Terry fought some monsters while holding the wand secretly with one of his hands, but the item didn't get any experience... as expected, he had to cause damage or swing it with intention. On the other hand, the salamanders were giving three points of experience to the spear, so that was good...
"Are you good at throwing weapons?" Terry asked.
"What?" Rebecca frowned. "I think the heat is frying my brain."
"No, you heard it right," Terry said. "Now that we found the portal, we have some leeway. I can't explain how my trait works, but you should have no problems fighting if you use this spear."
Rebecca hesitated in taking the Weapon. She was fully aware that I didn't have any reason to help her. No one has, and no one tried to help her. Still, she grabbed it since she also hated the feeling of being hopeless... She wanted to fight to get what she wanted.
When the next group of salamanders showed up, Terry grabbed the knives and then decided to attack the monsters with the wand as well without being noticed... Rebecca followed him.
