At the same time.
Doflamingo had already arrived on Minion Island. He gazed at the navy warship hovering in the sky above, lost in thought.
He had come here to personally eliminate Rosinante and, in the process, retrieve the coveted Ope Ope no Mi (Operation Fruit).
Thus, without hesitation, he unleashed the Birdcage to prevent Rosinante from escaping the island.
However, after deploying the Birdcage, he noticed a barely discernible black speck in the sky.
Upon closer inspection, he realized that the speck was, in fact, a Marine warship.
This unexpected situation unsettled Doflamingo. He immediately reached for his Den Den Mushi to contact Vergo.
Unbeknownst to him, Vergo had already been decapitated by Karl.
No one would answer his call.
"What's going on here? Why is there a Marine warship floating above this island?
And why isn't Vergo answering the Den Den Mushi? What happened?
Could it be that the Marines have uncovered my plans and are preparing for war?"
Doflamingo's expression darkened. He had no clue what was happening.
Even so, the Ope Ope no Mi was too important to him. Even if this was a Marine trap, he wouldn't back down.
The fruit meant everything to him, and he would never hand it over willingly.
"Listen up, everyone! We might already be surrounded by the Marines. Stay sharp and cautious!
If you spot anything unusual, we'll retreat immediately. Do not engage in battle unnecessarily!"
"Yes, Young Master!"
Responding to his command, his crew members shouted in unison and began surveying their surroundings.
Doflamingo was not as reckless as he would later become in the main storyline. Still in his formative years, he remained cautious.
He kept his Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki) active at all times to guard against sneak attacks.
Suddenly, a deafening roar erupted from the sky!
A powerful slash tore through the misty heavens, splitting the sky itself!
Doflamingo was stunned.
The explosion just now had been caused by that slash shattering his Birdcage.
Under the sheer ferocity of that sword energy, his Birdcage crumbled in less than a second!
This realization sent a chill down Doflamingo's spine. Someone on this island was far beyond his ability to contend with.
The Birdcage was one of Doflamingo's signature techniques.
It was nearly impenetrable, even by those wielding Haki.
But that didn't mean it was invincible.
Many individuals, especially those with powerful Devil Fruit abilities or Admiral-level strength, could break through its defenses.
Doflamingo understood now—there was an Admiral-level powerhouse on this island.
"All personnel, retreat immediately!"
"Young Master? It's just the Birdcage breaking. Why the panic?" Trebol, oozing snot as always, questioned with confusion, casually wiping his mucus.
"There's no time to explain. Follow my orders and retreat now! As quickly as possible!"
"Retreat? Did you even ask for my permission?"
Just as Doflamingo issued his retreat order, a sharp burst of sword energy descended, cutting off their escape route.
Simultaneously, another surge of sword energy struck, obliterating their pirate ship.
Since they planned to flee, destroying their ship was the simplest way to ensure they couldn't escape.
"All of you, retreat now! I'll hold him off!!!"
Veins bulging with rage, Doflamingo roared and launched himself skyward.
It was only when he reached the source of the attack that he saw who had destroyed his ship.
"Karl?!"
Doflamingo's shock was palpable.
He couldn't believe that Karl, in just a few years, had grown so powerful.
But fear was not in his nature. Gritting his teeth, he charged forward.
"Die!!!"
"Overheat!"
With a furious shout, Doflamingo unleashed a massive string imbued with Busoshoku Haki (Armament Haki). This was one of his strongest techniques, capable of slicing mountains and tearing through the earth.
But to Karl, it posed no threat at all.
With a casual swing of his Sandai Kitetsu, Karl effortlessly intercepted the attack.
The next moment, Karl manipulated two massive boulders, sending them hurtling toward Doflamingo from opposite sides.
Doflamingo quickly used his threads to step into the air, soaring higher to evade the crushing stones.
But under Karl's control, the boulders pursued him relentlessly!
"Goshikito (Five Colored Strings)!"
Unable to evade, Doflamingo used his abilities to shatter the stones.
At the same time, Karl closed the distance with a flash step, plunging his blade into Doflamingo's lower back.
"Doflamingo, it's been a while. You're as warm as ever. I didn't bring a gift, so how about this stab as a token of our... 'friendship'?"
Karl's smirk was composed and confident.
Doflamingo, however, was in agony.
His face twisted with pain, veins bulging across his forehead and neck. Blood gushed from his wound.
The strike had pierced through his kidney, leaving him severely injured.
"Torikago!"
Doflamingo raised his claw-like hand and slashed downward.
Sensing the impending attack, Karl withdrew his blade and flashed away.
With a thunderous crash, five massive claw marks marred the ground.
This was the destructive power of Doflamingo's attack—but it failed to even scratch Karl.
"Karl, why are you here?!" Doflamingo demanded, his voice seething with fury, his red suit now soaked with his own blood.
"Take a guess," Karl replied with a smirk, offering no explanation.
At that moment, several Donquixote family members leaped up from below, attempting to ambush Karl.
"Young Master! We'll help you!"
Doflamingo's eyes widened in alarm.
"Stop!!!"
But it was too late.
Karl raised his left hand disdainfully, activating his Fuwa Fuwa no Mi (Float-Float Fruit) ability.
"Pseudo Planetary Devastation!"
With a soft chant, countless chunks of earth surged upward, encasing the attackers in massive spheres of rock.
In an instant, three enormous stone spheres, each over three meters in diameter, hovered before Karl and Doflamingo.
Screams and blood seeped from within the spheres.
It was clear—the three were no longer alive.
Just then, a colossal stone giant and an ear-splitting roar emerged from behind Karl.
"Young Master! Run!!!"
