One Piece: My Name is Jack, I'm Very Resistant to Beating

Chapter 196: Chapter 197: Weevil's Devil Fruit Ability

As Jack leaped into the fray, the Mammoth crew wasted no time in setting sail, leaving him to handle the fight.

Facing an opponent capable of defeating a former Marine Admiral, Jack couldn't afford to be careless. Confident in his own strength, he still couldn't risk damaging the modified Mammoth ship during the clash. It was a prized possession, and any damage would cost him a fortune in ivory and milk to repair.

"Clang! Clang!"

The clash of Jack's tusks against Weevil's massive blade resounded across the battlefield. Each collision sent shockwaves through the air. Jack was impressed—Weevil's haki and raw power were formidable. Though he appeared dim-witted, his combat instincts were sharp and agile.

'Well, as Whitebeard's son, it makes sense that he'd be this strong. Strong bloodlines breed strong warriors, after all. Just look at Yamato—her potential is insane. In a few years, who knows how far she'll go? No wonder Kaido…'

Jack paused, his eyes narrowing as a thought struck him.

'Wait a minute. Weevil's older than Yamato by a lot… Kaido, you bastard! Did Whitebeard really let you get away with this?!'

The image of Kaido and Whitebeard clashed in Jack's mind, and a shiver ran down his spine.

'This is low, even for you, Kaido! You stole his woman and now you want me to kill his son? You're an animal—an absolute animal! But seriously, Whitebeard doesn't look bad… so how did he end up with a kid like this?'

"Boom!"

A burst of haki forced Jack to refocus. During their clash, Weevil had clearly taken a hit—Jack's Armament Haki, enhanced with Conqueror's coating, proved too much for Weevil. The white-haired warrior staggered back, coughing up blood.

"Ugh!"

"That hurts! Mama!"

But instead of retreating, the injury only seemed to enrage Weevil further. Tears streamed down his face, but his eyes burned with fury. Raising his blade, he charged at Jack with wild abandon.

"You bastard! That really hurt!"

Jack grinned. "That's more like it! A good brawl—just how I like it!"

"Boom!"

Weevil's overhead slash shattered the ground beneath Jack's feet. His arm trembled slightly from the impact, but he retaliated without hesitation. The two continued exchanging blows, neither willing to back down.

Despite the hours-long battle, neither combatant seemed worse for wear. Weevil's resilience was monstrous—he shrugged off Jack's attacks like they were nothing. Jack, too, barely flinched at Weevil's strikes, any minor injuries quickly disappearing.

But Jack grew more wary with each exchange.

'This guy… something's off. Even with Conqueror's Haki coating and advanced Armament, my hits aren't leaving lasting damage. His defense is insane. He's supposed to be Whitebeard's son, not Kaido's! There's no way he has the same body as Kaido.'

Jack's sharp eyes scanned Weevil's body. He noticed several large scars across his opponent's skin. Unlike normal scars, which redden or swell with exertion, Weevil's scars seemed unnatural, as if they were… a part of him.

"What's going on with this guy?"

As the fight dragged on, Jack activated his hybrid form, shifting into his half-human, half-mammoth state. Weevil, momentarily stunned, resumed his assault without a word.

"Clang! Clang!"

Even in his enhanced state, Jack found himself evenly matched. Strength, speed—Weevil kept up blow for blow.

"This isn't normal. My hybrid form amplifies everything. If he's keeping up… does he have a Devil Fruit? But I haven't seen him use any abilities…"

Jack's eyes narrowed, watching as Weevil's skin grew redder with each passing second.

"Boom!"

Dodging a fiery explosion, Jack's gaze snapped toward the source of the flames. They hadn't come from his weapon or from friction—they'd appeared out of thin air.

Turning back to Weevil, Jack noticed his opponent's skin glowing bright red, flames erupting from his body and even escaping his nostrils.

"Is this his Devil Fruit?" Jack muttered, then sneered.

"Hey! What kind of Fruit is this? A self-immolating Fruit? Don't tell me all it does is make you spit fire! That's the kind of power even a dog wouldn't eat!"

Weevil didn't reply. Instead, his body ignited completely, and he charged forward, blade raised high.

Jack, despite his bravado, stayed cautious.

'Fire doesn't really hurt me, but it still stings. And my fur? Yeah, I'd rather not lose that!'

"Clang! Boom!"

Their weapons collided once more. This time, Weevil opened his mouth and unleashed a torrent of flames. Jack, anticipating the move, countered with a powerful trunk shockwave. The clash of fire and force triggered a massive explosion, separating the two fighters.

"I'll kill you! I'll kill you!" Weevil roared, his flames intensifying, scorching the ground beneath him.

"Calm down, Weevil! You idiot, use that technique!"

From a distance, Miss Bakkin's shrill voice rang out. She quickly darted away, Finder and the others chasing after her like fools.

"Mom!"

Weevil hesitated, glancing toward her, but when Jack stepped in his way, his rage reignited. Miss Bakkin's words, however, seemed to help him regain some clarity. The flames surrounding him subsided as he resumed his fight with Jack.

Jack, while on guard, noted no immediate changes in Weevil's attacks. Gradually, he relaxed. But when Jack attempted a risky maneuver—trading blows to end the fight quickly—disaster struck.

"Bang!"

"Slash!"

Jack's spiked club sent Weevil flying, but not before the blade sliced deep into his chest. A searing pain coursed through him, and he stumbled back, cold sweat dripping down his spine.

"Damn you…!"

Jack stared at the wound—a charred gash exposing bone.

"You're not as dumb as you look, are you? That was dirty!"
