Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Bond
"What are you talking about, Raz?" Asura roared, his deep voice reverberating through the trembling realm.
"Yes, Daddy! This human soul—it isn't coming out!"
Raz's voice quivered as she struggled with the task assigned to her. She could feel the soul's resistance within her, an unyielding force that refused to be severed.
Asura strode towards her, his eyes glowing a devilish red. The air around him crackled with raw power as the ground beneath his feet fissured. His enormous black wings unfurled, casting an ominous shadow over the crowd of Asurs. His crimson horns glinted, and his grim, reddish-black body radiated an aura of menace.
"I knew it," he growled, his tone a chilling mixture of disdain and fury.
Raz instinctively stepped back, her knees trembling. She stumbled and fell, her breath hitching as she looked up at her father.
The other Asurs, sensing his rage, stepped back as well.
"This is exactly what I expected from you, my good-for-nothing princess!"
"Huh? Dad?" Raz whispered, her voice barely audible over the thundering silence.
"Yes, you!" Asura sneered. His lips curled into a cruel grin as he leaned closer, his red eyes burning into hers. "You thought you could be the queen of my realm?"
His laughter rang out, a harsh, mocking sound that echoed through the dark expanse. The other Asurs joined in, their derision cutting through Raz like a blade.
"Even the weakest Asur can capture a soul. I gave you the easiest task, and yet—" He paused, his voice dripping with mockery, "—you failed."
Raz's chest tightened, and she lowered her head in shame.
"But," Asura continued, his curiosity piqued, "why isn't that soul detaching from your body?"
"I think she has formed a bond with that human," Wisp chimed in, his voice calm yet tinged with concern.
Wisp, Asura's ever-loyal advisor, floated down from the shadows. His black wings moved with an eerie grace, and his gray cloak seemed to merge with the darkness around him.
"What?" Asura growled, his voice a dangerous low rumble. He turned to Wisp, his crimson eyes narrowing.
Raz lifted her head slightly, her tear-filled eyes darting toward Wisp.
The gathered Asurs murmured among themselves, their confusion and unease palpable.
"Yes, my lord," Wisp said, his tone measured. "A bond is a phenomenon that neither we, nor humans, nor even the overseers, can fully explain. It simply... exists. And this appears to be the first time an Asur has formed one. I believe it's because Princess Raz is also half-human."
"Wisp!" Asura roared, his wings flaring as his fury mounted. "Raz is no longer a princess, nor my daughter!"
Wisp hesitated but pressed on. "Still, my lord, at least she achieved what we Asurs have sought for centuries—something we've never been able to do." He smirked faintly. "Lucky, aren't you, Raz?"
A beam of red light shot from Asura's eyes, forming a glowing circle around Raz.
The other Asurs recoiled in fear, scattering in every direction. Even Wisp stepped back cautiously, his wings twitching.
"My lord, what are you doing?" Wisp asked, his voice tinged with worry.
Asura ignored him, his steps echoing as he advanced toward Raz. Grabbing her by the neck, he lifted her effortlessly into the air.
"Dad, please!" Raz gasped, her voice choking as his grip tightened.
"I will kill you, take your soul and that human's, and make them bond with me!" Asura snarled, his eyes glowing brighter.
"No, my lord, you can't!" Wisp protested, his voice trembling.
"Silence, Wisp! I am Asura, the King of the Asurs! I can snatch the soul of any Asur and feed on it to increase my power. Raz is no exception. She's only half-Asur, thanks to her human mother."
Asura's expression darkened as he tightened his grip. "Your mother... she gave birth to you and died. Or rather, should I say, she was killed?"
"What? But, Dad, you said she was human, and humans die after giving birth to an Asur's child."
"Yes, that's true. But your mother—she didn't die as expected. I was surprised when she survived. I asked her how she managed it, and do you know what she said?"
Asura's laughter rang out, cold and merciless. "She said, 'I wanted to play with my princess.' That sheer determination gave her the power to do the impossible. Just like you."
Raz's heart twisted as tears began to stream down her face.
"Stupid humans," Asura sneered. "I knew she must have had some magical powers that were passed down to you."
"But why did you kill her? Didn't you love her?" Raz wept.
"Love?" Asura laughed again, louder this time. "We Asurs do not know what love is. I tricked your mother. She said she fell in love with my heart, not my appearance. What a fool."
Raz's tears flowed freely as the weight of his words sank in.
"That's why humans are weak. They have emotions," Asura declared. Tightening his grip on her neck, he snarled, "Now enough of this family history. Let's end this."
A glowing orb, half blue and half red, began to emerge from Raz's body. Tears streamed down her face as she felt her life slipping away.
The orb floated in front of Asura, who grabbed it, holding it close to his chest.
But suddenly, the soul orb shot out of his grasp.
"What?" Asura roared, his voice thunderous.
The orb darted back into Raz's body, and she collapsed to the ground.
Raz slowly opened her eyes. "Huh? I'm... still alive?"
"How did you do this?" Asura demanded, his fury mounting.
"She didn't do it, you shithead father," a voice rang out.
"What did you say?" Asura growled, his confusion evident.
"It wasn't me!" Raz stammered.
"This is me, Akira," the voice boomed. "I said it."
"Akira?" Asura muttered.
"My lord, the voice—it's coming from Raz's body," Wisp said.
"Yeah, I'm inside her, you shithead!" Akira taunted.
"But... how is that possible? When a living-living bond occurs, one entity disappears!" Wisp exclaimed.
"Well, I didn't disappear," Akira said. "I've been alive inside her all along, listening to everything. And now, I've had enough!"
" I just want to say one thing"
"Raz this shithead father just used you like he used your mother so, wake up!"
"Stop blubbering you human" Asura barked
"oh shut up bastard," Raz said her voice echoing
"This is not me," Akira said
"I have now fully understand you and your motives
You are just selfish and think for yourself.
You don't care about anyone nor me or my mother
She loved your heart, not your appearance, and you still killed her" Raz wept
"You are just a shithead father who is empty from the inside, that's why you think people with emotions are weak," Raz said her voice echoing throughout the realm
Enough!
Asura said and launched a red laser from both eyes
But Raz dodged the attack
"Whoa, that could have killed us!" Akira added
Raz's eyes flared, her voice resonating with newfound strength. "Spatial shift: Nexus!"
A swirling portal appeared behind her, swallowing her whole as she vanished.
"Raz!" Asura bellowed in fury.
"Wisp!"
"Yes, my lord?"
"Announce this across the realm: the one who brings me Raz and her bonded friend Akira's soul will receive my powers as a reward!" Asura commanded.
