Chapter 185: Revealing Future Events
"Kurama?"
Haneda had considered talking privately with Kurama, hoping to convince it to resist Obito's summoning during the Nine-Tails attack. But to his surprise, Kurama came to him first.
Initially, Haneda planned to negotiate with Kurama a month or two before Naruto's birth. By then, his strength would have fully recovered and possibly improved.
"Were you surprised that I came to find you?" Kurama sensed Haneda's emotions.
Unlike most Konoha shinobi, Haneda felt neither animosity nor goodwill towards the tailed beasts, including Kurama.
Kurama continued, "I sense Asura's energy and the Sage of Six Paths' aura within you."
"Last time, you called me by name. I'm curious—who exactly are you?"
Previously, when Kurama tried to break free from Kushina, Haneda had addressed it by name. As a creature that never revealed its own name to anyone except the Sage of Six Paths and the other eight tailed beasts, Kurama had kept this in mind.
Haneda pondered for a moment, then replied calmly, "May I speak with you alone?"
"Of course."
Upon Kurama's response, Haneda found himself in a dark, confined space where Kurama lay in the shadows.
Unlike two years ago, Kurama wasn't restrained by chains but was instead confined within a Four-Symbols Seal.
"We are in a mental space," Kurama said, standing up slowly. "I sealed this area with my chakra—she can't hear us."
Kurama's massive figure loomed, but Haneda's unwavering gaze met its eyes, causing Kurama to hesitate.
Suddenly, the pattern of a sun appeared in Haneda's eyes.
Kurama instinctively stepped back, recognizing a sense of power in Haneda's gaze that reminded it of a certain terrifying figure.
"Sharingan? No, this is beyond the Mangekyo Sharingan!"
Kurama scrutinized Haneda's eyes. Both the Sharingan and Wood Release posed great threats to tailed beasts, and with Haneda's power, Kurama knew it might not stand a chance without Kushina's support.
"Your name? My eyes can see every possible future."
Haneda spoke confidently, listing the names of all nine tailed beasts: "Kurama, Gyuki, Chomei, Kokuo, Son Goku, Saiken, Matatabi, Isobu, and Shukaku."
"These were the names the Sage of Six Paths gave you, weren't they?"
Kurama was taken aback. Haneda not only knew its name but also understood their connection to the Sage of Six Paths.
"Are you an Otsutsuki?" Kurama asked, suspiciously.
"Does it matter?" Haneda sidestepped the question, then brought up his original reason for speaking with Kurama. "Do you know who Kushina is carrying?"
Kurama's eyes narrowed. "A reincarnation of Asura?"
"That's right, but he's more than that," Haneda continued, explaining Naruto's significance.
"He is the Child of Prophecy foretold by the Sage—the one with azure eyes."
Hearing this, Kurama felt skeptical, though Haneda's knowledge gave it pause.
Haneda continued, "And during his birth, there will be a catastrophe."
"This disaster will involve you and me—and the ancestor of the Uchiha, Madara."
"Madara?" Kurama's tone was bitter, recalling the time it had been dominated and bound to a summoning contract.
Haneda explained, "Though Madara is dead, he has trained a successor who controls your summoning contract."
Kurama paused, sensing the contract within itself.
"When the Child of Prophecy is born, that successor will summon you to bring devastation to Konoha. Half of you will be sealed inside the Death God."
Haneda's vision played out in Kurama's mind, showing a scene of its attack on Konoha, Minato confronting it with the Death God, and part of Kurama sealed into a newborn.
Kurama, having witnessed the Dead Demon Consuming Seal on a previous host, knew the grim consequences of this jutsu.
"I saw this future myself," Haneda declared, emphasizing the inevitability of his prediction. "For the sake of Minato, Kushina, and my village, I'll prevent this."
"You know I could control you as Madara did," Haneda reminded it, radiating confidence.
Kurama studied Haneda closely, then asked, "What do you want me to do?"
"Try to resist the summoning. I'll handle Madara's successor."
"Agreed," Kurama replied, satisfied with Haneda's proposal.
When Haneda left the mental space, Kurama's expression became contemplative.
"Such a golden opportunity… why should I let it go to waste?" Kurama thought, smiling. "The Child of Prophecy, huh? As if I'd willingly stay trapped with humans forever!"
Unaware of Kurama's internal schemes, Haneda returned to the outside world.
Kushina, noticing Haneda's return, asked, "What did Kurama want to talk about?"
"Oh, you know," Haneda replied nonchalantly, "things like dreams, ideals, and the future."
"Really?" Kushina thought about Jiraiya and Minato's talks, finding Haneda's comment plausible.
"Hey, Kushina, if you're free, could you help me train in sealing techniques?" Haneda requested with a smile.
With nothing much else to do, Kushina agreed to train Haneda, filling her idle time.
