Chapter 172: The Uchiha Enter the Scene, Shocking the Meeting Room!

"Minato-senpai?"

Guy recalled the gentle, powerful, almost perfect Minato and couldn't help but feel worried for his own teacher, Orochimaru. But then he thought of his rivalry with Kakashi and smiled, saying, "Kakashi! Who would have thought that our teachers would also have a youthful showdown!"

"Yosh! This is amazing!"

After two and a half days of this training, the Third Hokage, facing mounting unrest in the village, announced his impending retirement.

Another two and a half days later, the Third was set to hold a Jonin meeting at the Hokage building to conduct a candidate voting session, where Jonin would elect the next Fourth Hokage candidate. This process would largely determine the choice for Hokage since those who supported a candidate in the preliminary vote typically continued to do so in the final decision.

**Early Morning, Hokage Building**

The Jonin representing the key ranks of Konoha's middle and upper echelons gathered early in the meeting room. Kakashi walked in alongside Minato, with Jiraiya and Kushina at their side. As they approached the meeting room doors, Minato began to feel anxious, his expression tightening.

The position of Hokage was his lifelong dream, but now a formidable rival stood in his way. Although he wouldn't be intimidated by Orochimaru's reputation, the odds of success seemed stacked against him.

Sensing Minato's tension, Kushina leaned her head on his shoulder, reassuring him. "Don't worry; I'm here to support you."

"Thank you, Kushina. I'll carry your dreams with me and see this through," Minato replied with a gentle smile, recalling their childhood promises.

Eating up the affectionate moment, Jiraiya cleared his throat and said, "Relax, Minato. With me, Jiraiya the Gallant Toad Sage of Mount Myoboku, by your side, you've got this!"

"I'll support you too," Kakashi added quietly.

Just then, an unexpected voice interrupted.

It was Guy, Dai, and Orochimaru walking in.

"Minato-senpai, even though you're Kakashi's teacher, I believe my teacher, Orochimaru, won't lose!" Guy said proudly, shooting a glance at Kakashi before continuing, "Orochimaru-sensei has led battles, achieved numerous victories, and is admired by all. His popularity is unmatched!"

With growing excitement, Guy recited the words he had diligently memorized.

Orochimaru cast a brief glance at his student and then turned to Jiraiya. "I never expected you to, like Tsunade, pass up the Hokage position."

"Haha, can't I leave it to my student, Orochimaru?" Jiraiya replied warmly.

Although Jiraiya had intended to chat more, Orochimaru and his group strode straight into the meeting room.

Dai, passing by Minato, offered an apologetic nod. "Though I respect your ideals, Orochimaru is my son's teacher. I'm sorry."

"It's fine; my student supports me just as much. Let's call it even," Minato responded kindly.

Suddenly, there was the sound of synchronized footsteps from behind.

Haneda and Fugaku entered with over forty Uchiha Jonin following them. They were dressed in matching black uniforms, with the Uchiha crest on their right sleeves standing out against the dark fabric. The uniform's fierce, proud, and commanding aura immediately drew everyone's attention.

This display made Danzo, watching from the shadows, feel a rush of unease. Since when had the Uchiha become so united? Did Fugaku, the new Uchiha leader, intend to run for Hokage? What was Uchiha planning?

Haneda stopped at the meeting room entrance, with the Uchiha Jonin halting in perfect sync behind him. Haneda smiled at Minato. "Minato-senpai, I remember what I told you last time."

Minato looked at Haneda and the crowd of Uchiha behind him, puzzled. But he quickly recalled Haneda's words from a few days before: "Senpai, give it your all! Kakashi and I will both support you as Hokage."

Jiraiya whispered to Minato, "See? Your charisma has even gained the respect of the Uchiha."

Using her heightened senses through the Nine-Tails, Kushina could sense Haneda's sincere support for Minato, as well as the Uchiha clan's friendliness. This made her genuinely happy for Minato. Now even Konoha's foremost clan, the Uchiha, were backing him!

Haneda then spoke up, "Minato-senpai, I've heard it said that only those recognized by everyone can become Hokage."

"Let's go. The voting is about to start."

Fugaku nodded in agreement. "Minato, if Haneda supports you, then so do I."

With that, Haneda and Fugaku led the way into the meeting room. In an instant, the three previously empty rows of seats were filled.

The Nara clan, Yamanaka clan, Akimichi clan… Even the Hyuga clan, Konoha's second-largest family, took notice.

Could it be? The Uchiha are this united? What's going on?

Clan heads from various families glanced toward Fugaku, the current Uchiha leader, but quickly looked away, shifting their gaze toward Haneda. This young man, whose talents had been evident from a young age, had caught everyone's attention.

During the Third Great Ninja War, Haneda had famously captured the Fourth Kazekage, ambushed the Fourth Raikage, and nearly captured him again. The impressive Uchiha entrance even somewhat overshadowed Minato, Jiraiya, and the others who followed. Watching quietly from a distance, the Third Hokage looked at the rows of neatly uniformed Uchiha Jonin, sitting with disciplined postures, and fell into deep thought.
