Naruto: The Tale of an Otsutsuki

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Training and Relaxation

The training grounds on the outskirts of Konoha Village, where Team Guy often trained, were bustling with energy today. Among the usual faces, there was also a blonde-haired young man lying flat on the ground, frustration etched across his face.

"Lightning Release: Lightning Fang!" Naruto yelled, stretching his palm forward, but nothing happened—not even a spark.

When he realized he had failed again, Naruto flopped onto the ground, staring at the clouds. "Ah… failed again..."

Ever since witnessing Kirito's Light Escape, Naruto had been pestering him for lessons. Generous as ever, Kirito agreed. But before diving into Light Escape, Naruto had to master the elemental nature transformation of fire and lightning chakra.

So here he was, practicing the basics of Lightning Release with "Lightning Release: Lightning Fang"—a C-rank ninjutsu Kirito had taught him.

Kirito walked over and looked down at Naruto. "Giving up already?"

"Never!" Naruto snapped back indignantly before his tone became despondent. "But is this really a C-rank jutsu? It's harder than learning the Rasengan..."

Kirito scratched his head. Technically, Lightning Fang is a C-rank technique, he thought. It involves concentrating chakra in the palm, transforming it into lightning, and releasing it. On paper, it was straightforward. But Kirito had underestimated Naruto's shaky fundamentals.

Although Naruto's natural talent for the Rasengan was undeniable, his current control over chakra nature transformation—especially for lightning—was still underdeveloped.

"Try to focus on the feeling of lightning's properties," Kirito suggested. "Think about diffusion and conduction, as I mentioned earlier."

Naruto groaned. "I don't get all that 'theory' stuff!"

Kirito chuckled and called out, "TenTen! Naruto's ready for another round of electrotherapy!"

"On it!" TenTen, standing nearby with the Thunder Sword in hand, smirked as she approached. Lightning crackled along the blades as she swung them together.

"Alright, Naruto. Ready?"

Naruto nodded solemnly. "Ready!"

TenTen crossed the blades and unleashed a small lightning ball. "Thunder Release: Thunderball!"

The ball of lightning struck Naruto, causing him to twitch uncontrollably. "Ahhh! AHHHH!" His entire body shook as sparks danced across his frame.

When the lightning finally dissipated, Naruto lay on the ground, black smoke rising from him.

"How was it? Did you feel anything this time?" TenTen asked for the third time that day.

"I think... maybe... yes..." Naruto stammered, his body still trembling.

At that moment, Rock Lee, who had been training nearby, walked over. "Still no progress with Lightning Fang?" he asked.

Kirito shook his head. "His fundamentals are just too weak."

Understanding Naruto's struggle, Kirito had devised this unconventional method of letting Naruto "feel" lightning firsthand to develop his chakra transformation skills.

Rock Lee, ever the optimist, gave Naruto a thumbs-up. "Don't give up, Naruto! Even the dead last can succeed with enough hard work!"

Encouraged, Naruto jumped back to his feet. "Alright! One more time!"

Kirito sighed. Too bad Guy-sensei isn't here; he'd find this training entertaining enough to watch all day.

After their mission at the sorrel gold mine, Kirito and his team had returned to the village only to find that Guy was still away. They decided to stay at the training ground to organize their thoughts and reflect on their accomplishments.

Kirito, however, had other things on his mind—specifically, developing a new Kekkei Tota (Bloodline Elimination).

He mused about the legendary Dust Release, a technique that combined earth, wind, and fire chakra to create a powerful destructive force capable of breaking down matter at the atomic level.

"Onoki was a genius," Kirito muttered to himself. "Maybe I should make a clone and 'borrow' Dust Release. Like a straw boat borrowing arrows..."

But despite his theories, Kirito's experiments in developing a Bloodline Elimination yielded no tangible results.

A few days later, Tsunade assigned Naruto to another mission. With Guy back in the village, the team decided to celebrate their successes with a day off. They headed to Adofo Street, one of the busiest towns near Konoha, for some much-needed relaxation.

Dressed in casual clothes, the team strolled through the vibrant streets of Adofo. Even TenTen had made an exception today, wearing a stunning cheongsam instead of her usual combat attire.

"Why are you still wearing tights even today?" TenTen asked, exasperated as she eyed Guy and Rock Lee, who were still clad in their iconic green training suits.

"Not just any tights!" Guy declared, pulling at his collar. "This is the youth version! Brand new, with a slightly different shade of green!"

"It's still green!" TenTen exclaimed, facepalming.

Guy responded with his usual gusto. "TenTen, even during relaxation, one must never stop training! Constant effort is the key to becoming stronger. Isn't that right, Lee?"

"Absolutely, Sensei!" Rock Lee agreed, giving a thumbs-up as they hugged dramatically.

"Then why did you even come out today?!" TenTen asked, thoroughly exasperated.

Guy cleared his throat and answered more seriously. "It's to celebrate your independent completion of the mine mission. And also to welcome Kirito back. We haven't spent time together as a team in so long, so I thought we'd take this opportunity to relax."

Unspoken was another reason: Guy knew that, as time went on, Team Guy would eventually disband. Each member would grow, find their own paths, and move on. Moments like these—where the team was together—would become rarer with time.

Kirito smiled. "At least we're out. If we'd stayed in the village, it'd just be barbecue or ramen again."

TenTen sighed, her mood slightly dampened by Guy and Lee's antics. "I should've just come with Kirito..."

But Kirito couldn't help stealing glances at TenTen in her cheongsam. Her sudden change in attire made her look elegant and graceful—a stark contrast to her usual tomboyish demeanor.

Eventually, the team made their way to the largest movie theater on Adofo Street.

And so, amidst playful banter and a colorful atmosphere, Team Guy enjoyed a rare day of leisure together.
