Naruto: The God of Bloodlines

Chapter 18: Minato Namikaze Part 2

"So, it wasn't a coincidence that I never saw you training, even though I secretly came to observe Rin and Obito's training several times. You sensed me beforehand and stopped training," Minato said, surprised.

"Yes, Obito and Rin must have told you what I was worried about. My situation is quite unusual, and being both an orphan and a civilian made me even more cautious. But Obito and Rin told me that I could trust you, Minato-sensei," Yasu replied.

"It's good for a shinobi to be cautious, but you shouldn't distrust the village. If you start doubting the village and the orders of your superiors, it wouldn't be surprising if you became a deserter in the future," Minato said.

Yasu didn't respond. He knew Minato could be right, but Yasu hadn't been influenced by the Will of Fire and wasn't blind to the reality of Konoha's leadership. He understood that the Hokage and the councilors were often self-serving, acting in their own interests rather than those of the village.

Minato didn't continue to criticize Yasu. He himself had felt underestimated and overlooked in the Ninja Academy for being a civilian, and that was despite not being an orphan like Yasu. Yasu was just a child—even though it was normal for children his age to fight and die in wars, it didn't change the fact that children were inherently naïve.

"You're very talented, Yasu. Even though your talent awakened late and you couldn't graduate from the Ninja Academy, the village allows shinobi with special talents to become genin without attending the Academy."

"Obito said you can defeat him, a chunin, using only taijutsu. That alone qualifies you to become a genin. You've also learned the Mystical Palm Technique and have been recognized as a genius in Iryo ninjutsu by Rin, which further qualifies you to become a genin."

"On top of that, your ability to sense my approach so many times from such a long distance also qualifies you to become a genin. You have the potential to learn jutsu and exceptional chakra control. Once you learn more jutsu, you'll become even stronger," Minato added.

Yasu couldn't fully understand what Minato was saying. He had already anticipated that he would be able to become a genin. After all, he met the village's special requirements and had also attended the Ninja Academy. This would just make him a delayed genin.

Minato, on the other hand, was thinking about something else entirely. He trusted Obito and Rin. Even if Yasu's taijutsu skills weren't as refined, the mere fact that Yasu could use the Mystical Palm Technique was enough to qualify him as a genin.

However, noticing Yasu's talent in taijutsu, medical ninjutsu, and his sensory abilities made Minato think that Yasu was more than qualified to be promoted immediately to chunin.

After all, Yasu possessed these skills and was also capable of defeating Obito. He would likely be able to defeat Rin as well, and both of them were chunin. More than that, Minato was considering bringing Yasu onto their team for the next phase of the war.

Minato was gaining more fame and responsibilities during this Third Ninja War. With his mastery of the Flying Thunder God Technique and an improved Rasengan, he was thinking about intensifying his efforts to end the war as quickly as possible.

Even though Sunagakure was almost defeated, the other villages were still united in creating problems for Konoha. Minato also feared that if the war dragged on further, the jinchuuriki of the other villages might unite against Konoha, forcing Kushina to join the war as the jinchuuriki of the Nine-Tails.

But Minato was deeply concerned for Obito and Rin. He worried that taking on more difficult missions would put them in danger, especially since he had made many enemies in this war. His enemies would stop at nothing to exact revenge, including targeting his students if he wasn't there to protect them.

For this reason, Minato wanted Yasu to join their team. That way, he could fulfill the promise he had made to his students to protect Yasu from being sent to his death in the war. With Yasu's talents combined with those of his students, it would be much harder for them to be ambushed and killed before they could call for his help and have him arrive using the Flying Thunder God Technique.

In times of war, it was easy to promote talented shinobi to chunin or jonin to assign them more responsibilities and provide greater support to the village. For someone like Minato, who was soon to become a battlefield commander, promoting Yasu to chunin was a simple task.

While making this decision, Minato took a Konoha shinobi headband out of his ninja pouch. When Yasu saw it, his eyes lit up. He had always wanted one in his previous life while watching the anime, and after attending the Ninja Academy, he had envied his classmates even more when they received their headbands and he did not.

"Yasu, as a commander of a battlefield in the Ninja War, I, Minato Namikaze, approve you to become a genin due to your special abilities. Soon, you will be summoned to the battlefield. Await further orders," said Minato seriously.

"Thank you, Minato-sensei. I promise to do my best for Konoha in this Ninja War, and I vow not to dishonor your choice in making me a genin," Yasu replied solemnly.

"I believe in you. Don't worry—I will keep my promise and ensure that you're not placed in a bad team or sent on a mission meant to end your life in the upcoming battles," Minato said with a mischievous smile.

"Thank you, Minato-sensei. I guarantee I'll be very useful to the village in the future," Yasu replied.

Yasu didn't notice Minato's mischievous smile. He trusted his favorite character and believed he wouldn't break a promise, especially since ensuring his survival in this war wouldn't be too difficult.

Yasu continued his taijutsu training. When he grew tired again, he noticed his chakra had partially recovered. Deciding to move on to his second training to prepare for survival in the war, he retrieved some papers that he had purchased at great cost from the ninja tools shop. These papers were used to identify the nature of his chakra.
