Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Mastering Dual Breathing Techniques
Gu Xingxi arrived at Orochimaru's mansion and saw him in a heated argument with Jiraiya.
Orochimaru asked, "Gu Xingxi, why are you here? Didn't I tell you to rest well and prepare for tomorrow's battlefield?"
Gu Xingxi bowed and replied, "Master, I hope you can acknowledge on the battlefield that my wife, Uchiha Shouko, is your disciple."
Jiraiya, visibly confused and shocked, exclaimed, "What? You have a wife at eight years old?"
Gu Xingxi calmly responded, "Yes, Lord Jiraiya."
Jiraiya could only mutter, "Wow."
Orochimaru said, "Alright, but I need some materials from you."
Gu Xingxi, puzzled, asked, "What materials do you need from me, Master? Could it be for the 3D maneuver gear?"
Orochimaru nodded, "Yes, I've successfully replicated one, but it lacks gas."
Gu Xingxi thought to himself (Are you kidding me? It's only been five hours and you've made an exact replica?)
Despite his internal rant, Gu Xingxi handed over the gas for his 3D maneuver gear, knowing he could refill it later.
"Thank you, Lord Xingxi," Orochimaru said graciously.
Gu Xingxi advised, "Master Orochimaru, without exceptional visual acuity and balance, the 3D maneuver gear cannot be operated effectively."
"Is that so? Then I must train rigorously," Orochimaru mused.
Jiraiya teased, "Why are you so creepy, like a snake?"
Orochimaru retorted, "Still better than a toad like you."
Angrily, Jiraiya threatened, "Watch it, or I'll tell Tsunade about the time you spied on her bathing."
Orochimaru's face darkened, "That was when I saw you lurking there, and I was just curious what you were looking at."
Seeing their bickering, Gu Xingxi swiftly departed using his 3D maneuver gear.
"Uncle Snake may not be interested in immortality at this time, but he is certainly fascinated by technology, and his personality before turning evil was actually quite decent," Gu Xingxi noted to himself.
Back home, after dispelling his shadow clone and freshening up, he was ready to cook.
Shouko Nishimiya offered, "Let me take care of it, Lord Xingxi."
Gu Xingxi, slightly annoyed, responded, "Please, just call me Xingxi."
Nodding, Shouko replied, "Alright, but let me handle the cooking."
Hearing her agreement, Gu Xingxi softened and let her stay out of the kitchen.
"I'll let you taste my cooking. Just sit there and enjoy," Gu Xingxi insisted.
Obediently, Shouko sat at the table, her cheeks flushing as she thought, (Xingxi is such a peculiar person. It felt like we were a married couple when we first met. Oh, what am I thinking? But it seems like he really likes me.)
Soon, Gu Xingxi emerged from the kitchen with three dishes and a soup, having stir-fried two vegetable dishes and one meat dish, and specially prepared a fish soup, knowing the Japanese fondness for fish. He had been a chef apprentice in his previous life and knew how to make a decent fish soup with tofu and cabbage.
Tasting the soup, Shouko complimented, "This fish soup is delicious. You can really cook."
Gu Xingxi replied, "I got used to cooking for myself."
Shouko smiled, "Then I'll accompany you from now on."
"Sounds good," Gu Xingxi agreed.
After dinner and cleaning up, Gu Xingxi went outside to practice the Sun Breathing and Moon Breathing techniques.
"System, I don't know how to perform Sun Breathing and Moon Breathing," Gu Xingxi confessed.
"Just 500 points to upgrade your breathing techniques to the maximum level," the system informed.
Gu Xingxi grumbled, "What a rip-off, damn it, just do it."
"Breathing techniques upgraded to full level. You have 2000 points left, please use them wisely," the system advised.
The complete forms, motions, and detailed techniques of Sun Breathing and Moon Breathing then filled Gu Xingxi's mind.
He didn't dwell on the system's words but immediately tried the Moon Breathing, which had been adapted by Kokushibou for demonic use. Gu Xingxi feared his body might reject it, but he managed to perform it successfully, though the blade needed to elongate and sprout additional blades beyond the fifth form.
Fortunately, with the blade glowing purple during Moon Breathing, and not solely relying on eyesight—helpful for someone with claustrophobia like Gu Xingxi—Sun Breathing turned the blade red or bright like a warrior's sword, whereas Moon Breathing was more akin to a mage's spell.
"As long as I don't encounter the third Raikage, that monster who would slay gods and demons alike—in other words, a true bringer of death," Gu Xingxi mused.
