"Boom——"
Shukaku's enormous tail struck Kumamoto with great force, causing a violent noise that made the surrounding, still-standing buildings tremble slightly.
Even though Kumamoto's skin was thick and tough, he couldn't help but let out a roar after taking the hit. The ground beneath his feet shattered instantly from the impact.
However, at this moment, Shukaku didn't have the satisfaction of success and let out a muffled groan.
Kumamoto had firmly caught hold of Shukaku's massive tail in his arms!
Kumamoto, looking almost human, tightly gripped Shukaku's tail with his large, muscular paws, his bear face twisted in ferocity.
Seeing this, Shukaku's expression darkened, and he angrily growled.
"Damned scum! How dare you touch my tail!"
"Die now!"
Shukaku's massive jaws opened, and a wind orb quickly formed at the corner of his mouth.
"Wind Style. Air Bullet!"
With a shout, the wind orb shot toward the nearby Kumamoto, spinning fiercely as if it could tear and cut through anything in its path.
Even Kumamoto's thick fur couldn't withstand the air bullet, and blood began to flow from the deep cuts it caused!
Kumamoto, who had been tightly gripping Shukaku's tail, loosened his grip after receiving such a heavy blow and let out a roar of uncontrollable pain.
"ROAR!!"
Shukaku, who had just escaped, felt a moment of triumph, but his face immediately stiffened in the next moment!
Kumamoto, who had been roaring in pain, felt Shukaku's tail slip from his grasp and immediately lunged forward, grabbing the tail back into his arms!
His beastly eyes were tinged with red due to the intense pain. The scent of his own blood stirred the wildness within him, unleashing his repressed primal instincts.
"ROAR!"
With another enraged roar, Kumamoto opened his ferocious jaws and bit down hard on Shukaku's tail!
"AHHHH!!!"
This time, it was Shukaku who let out a cry of pain.
His beastly eyes burned with fury as he glared at Kumamoto, growling.
"You wretched scum, how dare you bite my tail!"
"Let go! Let go of me NOW!"
Shukaku, writhing in pain, tried to shake Kumamoto off, but the bear was too heavy, almost as large as Shukaku himself.
His efforts were futile, and Kumamoto, with red eyes, paid no attention to his words, stubbornly biting down harder.
Shukaku, in agony, was left with no choice but to use his ability.
The ground beneath them began to soften, slowly turning into sand. Kumamoto sensed something wrong under his feet, but before he could react, both he and Shukaku were sinking into the sand.
With no other option, Kumamoto opened his mouth and grabbed onto Shukaku's tail with his paws, biting down again in a different spot!
"AHHH!!"
"Damned beast! I swear I'll kill you!"
Shukaku roared in pain, and as his voice echoed, streams of sand shot up from the pit they had sunk into, as if controlled by invisible hands.
A cold glint flashed in Shukaku's yellowish-red eyes, and the streams of sand shot downward like arrows!
"Whoosh!" "Whoosh!" "Whoosh!"
The sand streams pierced through Kumamoto's shoulders, chest, arms, and even his round, short ears.
"Damn it! DIE ALREADY!"
Shukaku, now oblivious to his pain, roared furiously. As his words fell, the sand streams seemed to cling to Kumamoto, pulling in all directions!
The thick sand streams wrapped around Kumamoto like ropes, trying to tear him apart.
Kumamoto let out another roar, but his large bear paws refused to let go. After howling upward, he bit down again.
This made Shukaku, who had been trying to pull his tail free, twitch once more.
But soon, small ripping sounds followed.
"Rip——" "Rip——"
Under Shukaku's strength, even Kumamoto's thick skin and fur began to tear under the strain of the sand!
Clumps of fur were pulled high, and some were torn away entirely, causing blood to gush out.
Kumamoto's bear face was pitiful. As if for Shukaku's amusement, two thinner streams of sand yanked hard on his short, round ears, lifting them high. From a distance, Kumamoto looked like a giant brown rabbit.
Shukaku's mouth twisted into a cruel smile, his voice sharp as he sneered.
"Haha! Bite me again, you scum! Just wait—I'm going to rip you to pieces!"
Kumamoto continued to endure, even as blood flowed from multiple places on his body. Despite the pain in his ears, he persevered.
He remembered what his mother had always told him. "If you're fighting for that person, you must go all out, no matter what."
At that moment, a thin stream of sand struck the tuft of white fur on his chest, causing him to panic slightly, even as he clung tightly to Shukaku's tail.
Shukaku's eyes narrowed, and he grinned.
"What's this? Is that tuft of fur important to you? Haha, today I'll tear that white tuft off! Let's see what an ugly mess you'll look like! Oh, and I never did ask you, what kind of animal are you?"
With that, Shukaku's eyes turned cold. In Kumamoto's panicked gaze...
"Rip——"
With a crisp tearing sound, the tuft of white fur on Kumamoto's chest was ripped away.
It was like watching a scene in slow motion. Kumamoto's round ears were pulled high, and his beastly eyes widened as he stared blankly at the falling white fur.
Some of the fur gently fell to the ground, while others clung to the streams of sand and floated upward. On his chest, the soft white fur, shaped like a small bell, was now in tatters, revealing a faint, bright red seal underneath.
And a few words, which seemed instinctively important, echoed in his mind.
In a quiet, lush forest.
"Brother Aizen, look, look! This little bear has a tuft of white fur on its chest that looks like a little bell!"
A playful, excited voice rang out.
"Hmm, it really does."
The calm, gentle voice of Aizen replied.
"Haha, little bear, you're a natural pet, aren't you? I've never seen fur shaped like this before."
The girl teased.
"Sakuya, don't mock the little one."
Aizen glanced gently at Sakuya and spoke with a helpless smile.
Then, he turned to the giant bear, whose expression was full of grievance. His deep gaze held a complexity, and he said softly.
"You're quite adorable, little one. This tuft of white fur makes you stand out."
"Remember, transcending mediocrity is your original sin. Every day from now on, maintaining your uniqueness will be your constant training. If, one day, you become no different from other bears, that will be the day you fade into obscurity."
As he spoke, his eyes were calm like water. These words seemed like a self-reflection, but also a lesson for the little bear.
At that time, the little bear wasn't yet called Kumamoto, nor did he understand the meaning behind Aizen's words.
But now, he understood.
