Reciprocity is important. If someone helps you, and when they need help, you refuse despite being able to, the result is that you lose respect.
"I can't guarantee how much he'll learn, but I'll do my best."
"I'm looking forward to it." Fugaku, who rarely smiles, gave his son a heartfelt reminder.
"Sasuke, Kazuki is a genius of the clan, a strong member of our family. You need to learn earnestly from him, do you understand?"
"Yes, I won't disappoint you, Father." Seeing his father's smile, Sasuke hurried to reassure him.
Eager for recognition and praise, he has always worked hard for it.
"I hope you mean what you say. Follow me. Hopefully, you can hold out for a few days. My teaching method is different from others. If you can't keep up, leave early and don't waste our time."
Since there was no way to decline, Sasuke had to accept. As for whether he can endure it, that depends on Sasuke himself.
"I'll do my best, Sensei!"
"Don't call me Sensei yet. Wait until you can last through the training."
Kazuki waved his hand, signaling Sasuke to follow him, leading him to the police department's training grounds.
"Captain!"
In the training ground, many people were either training or chatting. As Kazuki entered, everyone stood up to greet him, even those not from his squad.
"Carry on with your work."
Smiling and nodding in response, Kazuki walked into the training ground and said to Jiro.
"Bring my gear over."
"..." Jiro's smile stiffened for a moment. He rubbed his bald head and replied with a bitter smile.
"Captain, I haven't done anything wrong. Let's forget about the 'gear,' okay?"
"Hahaha....."
Jiro immediately caved, and everyone around burst out laughing. Everyone knew how Kazuki had subdued Jiro. Every time this was mentioned, it would make Jiro nervous, and usually, no one dared to bring it up.
But with Kazuki around, Jiro didn't dare to lose his temper. So how could anyone miss such a good opportunity?
"Not for you! For him!!"
Kazuki glared at Jiro and stepped aside, revealing Sasuke, who was standing behind him like a little pigeon, finally catching everyone's attention.
"Huh, Sasuke?"
Being stared at by so many senior members of the clan made Sasuke a bit nervous. However, not wanting to embarrass his father and seeking his father and brother's approval, Sasuke puffed out his chest and tried to appear calm.
"My father asked me to follow Sensei for training."
"Sensei...."
Now everyone understood why Kazuki had come to the training grounds and why he needed his 'gear.' It turns out he was taking on a disciple, and that disciple was none other than the clan leader's youngest son, Sasuke.
"Oh, why didn't you say so earlier?" Realizing it wasn't directed at him, Jiro's stressed face instantly relaxed, and he ran off laughing toward the storage room.
"Kid, I hope you can last." The people who had just been laughing now looked at Sasuke with sympathy.
Some even started betting.
"How many days do you think Sasuke will last?"
"Who knows? Depends on whether the captain goes easy on him or not."
"Go easy? No way. I think he'll make it through, considering he's a student being taught, not someone like Jiro with his thick skin."
'Why are they looking at me so strangely?' Sasuke didn't quite understand.
"The gear is here!!!"
Jiro came running back with the items Kazuki requested. Sasuke took a closer look. it was two rods, one an iron rod covered with cut marks, the other a wooden stick of unknown material, slightly bent and looking quite odd.
"Kid, good luck. I'm rooting for you."
Handing the items to Kazuki, Jiro cheerfully encouraged Sasuke, though with his muscular build and bald head, his smile was more intimidating than reassuring.
Sasuke, rather than feeling comforted, was scared into taking a few steps back.
Holding the wooden stick in his left hand and the iron rod in his right, Kazuki turned to Sasuke and said.
"When I first became squad captain, the members of my squad were rebellious, and I wasn't strong enough to command their respect. So, I used these to make them acknowledge me as their captain. Since your father asked me to train you, I'll do my utmost. I hope you can endure it."
"I won't disappoint my father or Sensei."
Looking at the two rods, Sasuke felt a sudden unease. He had a feeling these tools were dangerous, but his desire for recognition made him stand tall, refusing to back down.
"Very well, take out your ninja tools and attack me."
"Huh?"
Straight to combat training?
Nothing else?
Sasuke was stunned.
Kazuki twirled the rod in his hand a couple of times, flashing Sasuke a seemingly gentle smile.
"I'm sorry, but I won't be teaching you the basics. There's no need for that since you've already learned them in the clan and probably tired of them in the ninja academy. The only thing I will teach you is combat."
It has finally appeared.
Seeing Kazuki smile like that, everyone present knew that the real show was about to start. The more Kazuki smiled in the training ground, the more tragic the fate of the person facing him.
Jiro was the classic example of this teaching method.
"Alright then, Sensei, here I come."
Realizing Kazuki wasn't joking, Sasuke pulled out a kunai from his pouch and gripped it tightly in his hand.
The next second, Sasuke charged forward.
As a five-year-old child, there weren't many fancy techniques. It was all straightforward, with most of the fighting relying on taijutsu, and just being able to skillfully use various ninja tools was already impressive.
As for ninjutsu... well, let's not go there. At this age, being able to use the basic Transformation, Substitution, and Clone Jutsus well is already considered excellent.
'Don't underestimate me!!'
The sharp kunai aimed straight for Kazuki's abdomen. Given Sasuke's height, directly targeting the stomach was a reasonable choice.
Kazuki casually flicked the wooden stick in his hand, sending Sasuke's kunai flying.
"Huh...?"
My weapon is gone?
Sasuke couldn't comprehend what had just happened. He stared at his now-empty hand in confusion.
"Your speed is good, but you're thinking too much."
It's already good enough to land a hit, and you're still trying to overthink it?
"Again."
"Yes."
Picking up the kunai from the ground, Sasuke took a deep breath and attacked once more.
"Clang!"
Even though Sasuke was already fast, he was still like a child playing pretend. Kazuki effortlessly waved the rod in his hand, disarming Sasuke once again.
"Don't overthink during a battle. Your enemy won't give you time for idle thoughts."
"Again."
One-on-one training commenced.
The onlookers quickly lost interest. They had expected Kazuki to use this opportunity to teach Sasuke a harsh lesson.
But no such dramatic event unfolded.
All they saw was Sasuke repeatedly attacking and Kazuki effortlessly deflecting each strike, pointing out his flaws. It was entirely proper and formal education, with nothing thrilling or spectacular.
