Chapter 33: Naruto And Obito
Rain Village
Naruto, alongside Nagato and Konan, appeared on the platform with a flash of the Flying Thunder God. The rain poured relentlessly around them, creating an eerie atmosphere. As they landed, they were greeted by an uninvited guest—the masked man, sitting casually in the spot where Tendo Pain often lingered.
Naruto's grin widened as he approached the masked man, gesturing toward him. "Hey! What's with the home invasion? Destroying my shadow clones and just making yourself comfortable? That's not very polite, is it?"
The masked man slowly turned to face Naruto, his single Mangekyō Sharingan gleaming ominously. He remained silent for a moment, as if studying Naruto. Then, in a calm but puzzled voice, he said, "Naruto?"
Naruto crossed his arms, tilting his head. "Yeah, it's me. What's the deal?"
The masked man stood, his voice suddenly cold and accusing. "Nagato! Why have you severed contact with me? Akatsuki has new missions. Don't you understand the gravity of this?"
Nagato, still atop the large bird, stared back with his impassive Rinnegan. He didn't answer.
Konan stepped forward, her voice sharp. "Madara! From today onward, we're no longer part of Akatsuki. The Rain Village will now be under the control of the Celestial Organization. Consider this your official notice."
The masked man snorted derisively, shaking his head. "Celestial? What kind of childish name is that? Playing at revolution now, are we?"
Konan's eyes narrowed at the insult. For her, mocking the Celestial Organization was an affront to Naruto, her comrade and Nagato's trusted junior brother. She moved to speak, but Nagato's Six Paths of Pain activated instead, a clear warning.
The masked man's tone darkened. "So, you think you've grown strong enough to challenge me?"
Naruto raised a hand, stopping Nagato. He smiled calmly at the masked man. "Relax, Senior Sister. Nagato, take Konan inside. It's raining out here, and I'd like to have a word with him alone."
Nagato hesitated. "But—"
Naruto's eyes met his, unwavering. "It's fine. There's just something I need to discuss with him, one-on-one."
After a brief pause, Nagato nodded. "Understood." He guided the bird into the shelter of the platform, Konan following reluctantly. She glanced back at Naruto, concern flickering in her eyes before disappearing inside.
Once they were alone, the masked man spoke, his voice low and analytical. "You don't have the Sharingan, and as far as I know, your training doesn't involve illusions. Yet, you've managed to turn Nagato and Konan against me. The only technique capable of such a feat without detection is Shisui Uchiha's Kotoamatsukami."
Naruto said nothing, his smirk unchanged.
The masked man continued pacing. "And that's not all. The only way you could've acquired Shisui's eye is through Uchiha Itachi. Itachi entrusted that power to you, didn't he?"
Naruto finally spoke, his tone laced with sarcasm. "Is that what you've pieced together? Impressive detective work."
The masked man sneered. "What puzzles me is why. Why would someone who dreamed of being Hokage abandon Konoha, become a rogue ninja, and use such a powerful tool on Nagato instead of Sasuke? What's your endgame, Naruto? Why this 'Heaven' nonsense?"
Naruto's smile faded. His voice turned sharp. "You think I'm confusing? What about you?"
The masked man stiffened as Naruto's tone grew more intense.
"You were loved and cared for by your master and mistress," Naruto continued, his words cutting. "And yet, one day, you sneak into Konoha, threaten their newborn son, abduct your master's wife, and unleash the Nine-Tails? What kind of monster does that?"
The masked man's silence was deafening.
"And don't even get me started!" Naruto's voice rose, filled with raw anger. "If my father hadn't intervened, you would've crushed my mother—the woman who treated you like family—under the paw of the Nine-Tails. They loved you like a son, and you repaid them with betrayal!"
"Enough!" The masked man's voice trembled with rage, his Sharingan spinning wildly. "You know nothing of this world! Nothing of its hypocrisy, its deceit, its hatred!"
Naruto cut him off with a shout. "So what?! That doesn't justify what you did to them! Whatever this world is, my parents had nothing to do with it! They believed in you, cared for you! And what did you do? You turned their trust into ashes!"
The masked man faltered, taking an involuntary step back. His voice cracked. "Who... who are you? How do you know these things?"
Naruto's expression softened into a sly grin. "Me? I'm just someone who remembers the truth."
Before the masked man could respond, Naruto formed a hand seal. "Transformation Jutsu!"
With a puff of smoke, Naruto's form shifted—into Rin.
The masked man's single eye widened in horror. He stumbled back, his voice shaking. "You... you..."
"Obito," the transformed Naruto said softly, his voice now Rin's. "Why? Why did you betray Sensei and Kushina? Why did you betray me? Have you forgotten the promise you made to me? That you'd become Hokage?"
The masked man's composure shattered. Memories of Rin's smile, her words, her unwavering faith in him, flooded his mind.
"I..." Obito stammered, his voice breaking. "Rin... I..."
Naruto, still in Rin's form, took a step closer, her gaze piercing. "Was this your dream, Obito? To hurt the people who loved you? To destroy everything they stood for?"
The masked man couldn't take it anymore. With a burst of panic, he activated Kamui and vanished into the swirling vortex of his own jutsu.
Naruto watched him go, his form returning to normal. He sighed, shaking his head. "That was easier than I thought. Still the same Obito... running from his own heart."
Turning, he headed back toward the platform, the rain washing away the tension from the confrontation.
