NARUTO: Ninja World Scientific Revolution

Chapter 8: CHAPTER 8 - Forming a Team and Heading to the Wilderness

Hyuga Mirai was deeply committed to studying medical knowledge. She meticulously learned about the human body's organs, meridians, blood vessels, general wound treatment, and battlefield first aid.

Within the Hyuga Clan and the Konoha Library, such knowledge was somewhat restricted but not as confidential as medical ninjutsu. It was accessible to Konoha shinobi but off-limits to civilians.

Hyuga Mirai only needed to apply for a library card exclusive to Konoha shinobi to access these resources freely.

This type of library card was reserved for officially recognized Konoha shinobi, and the Hyuga Clan easily arranged one for him.

Aside from medical knowledge, Mirai never slacked off in his Gentle Fist training.

If his dedication to studying medical knowledge was a level one effort, then his commitment to Gentle Fist was five times that.

With fivefold effort and time invested, combined with his natural talent and the training notes left behind by his late father, Mirai's progress in mastering Gentle Fist was swift.

While the main family's heirs had dedicated mentors, their effort likely didn't reach even a third of what Mirai put in.

The Gentle Fist's ultimate techniques were developed based on the Byakugan. Skills such as striking chakra points and the Eight Trigrams techniques were foundational. With these basics, and the notes his father left behind, Mirai could deduce and refine the secret techniques of the main family.

As for unlocking the Byakugan, it didn't take long after he started chakra refinement. However, Mirai refrained from activating it unnecessarily. She preferred to wait until Kiyo Hyuga, the young lady of the main family, mastered his Byakugan. Then, Mirai would feel "motivated" to activate his.

Caution was key to survival. Living among the Hyuga Clan, Mirai didn't want to entrust his life to the generosity of the main family.

Half a month had passed since Zosuke Hyuga first mentioned going to Konoha Hospital, and Mirai finally received permission to intern there.

This was largely thanks to his impeccable performance in theoretical classes. Even if someone handed him a fifth-year graduation exam, he could ace it with full marks.

Now, Mirai was officially excused from attending theoretical classes in the morning and could openly head to Konoha Hospital as a trainee doctor.

For now, his role was to assist and observe. He wouldn't be learning medical ninjutsu in his first year unless he gained the approval of the hospital's doctors.

"Lady Kiyo, I'll be heading off now," Mirai said after escorting Kiyo Hyuga home from the Ninja Academy, preparing to head to his own training.

"Wait." Before Mirai could leave, Kiyo called out, stopping him in his tracks.

Mirai turned back, puzzled. "Is there something you need, Lady Kiyo?"

Kiyo took a deep breath, her pale eyes turning serious. "What are your plans for tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow? I'll be at Konoha Hospital in the morning and training outdoors in the afternoon," Mirai replied honestly. These weren't secrets worth hiding.

Kiyo frowned slightly at the mention of Konoha Hospital. She disliked the sterile smell of the place.

"In the afternoon, I'll join you for outdoor training," she declared.

"Uh?" Mirai immediately felt a sense of foreboding. If this young lady tagged along, wouldn't he have to waste another afternoon humoring her?

"Lady Kiyo, I was planning to fish in the afternoon. It might get a bit dull," Mirai cautiously suggested. "Also, about Lord Fourth Elder…"

To his surprise, Kiyo seemed more intrigued by the mention of fishing. "That's fine. A little relaxation after training isn't bad. I'll speak to my grandfather about it."

"Lady Kiyo?"

"Go on now. Don't forget to come find me tomorrow," Kiyo said firmly before retreating indoors, leaving Mirai no chance to argue further.

Mirai sighed inwardly. Unsure if the branch family's guards were watching, he dared not show too much emotion and simply left.

Another half-day would be wasted. Still, considering the potential benefits of keeping Kiyo on his side, Mirai decided to let it go. Worst-case scenario, he'd just play the role of a babysitter.

The next day, Mirai arrived at Konoha Hospital half an hour early. Thanks to the Hyuga Clan's connections, his entry as a trainee was smooth.

Initially assigned to assist Dr. Nakano, the latter wasn't too thrilled.

Although the hospital wasn't particularly busy, babysitting a young trainee was a hassle. Having a kid tagging along meant less downtime for Nakano.

However, after a few days, Nakano's opinion began to change.

Despite his young age, Mirai was diligent, observant, and quick to act. He often anticipated tasks Nakano might overlook, completing them proactively.

Most impressive was Mirai's prior knowledge of medical basics, which he had evidently studied before coming to the hospital.

When Nakano treated injured shinobi, Mirai consistently handed him the necessary tools in advance, as if he could read Nakano's mind.

After a few days of working together, Nakano stopped seeing Mirai as a child in need of supervision and started accepting him as an assistant.

At this rate, it wouldn't take long before Mirai could handle minor injuries independently. Once proficient, he'd finally qualify to learn medical ninjutsu.

Mirai set a goal for himself: learn medical ninjutsu within six months, then spend the next six months establishing a reputation as a competent medical-nin at Konoha Hospital.

If everything went as planned, he was confident in achieving this.

After returning home from Konoha Hospital, Mirai changed into a different set of clothes and decided to take the afternoon off to go fishing.

If he caught enough, he'd salt and preserve the fish as rations.

His appetite had grown significantly with his training. To sustain himself, Mirai often set traps or cast fishing lines during outdoor practice. Every extra meal translated to more energy for his rigorous routine.

Arriving at the Fourth Elder's residence, Mirai politely asked the guard, "May I trouble you to inform Lady Kiyo of my arrival?"

The branch family guards were familiar with Mirai from his frequent visits, so the message was relayed quickly.

Before long, Kiyo appeared, dressed in surprisingly light attire.

"Let's go," Kiyo said, attempting to maintain a dignified demeanor, before gesturing for Mirai to lead the way while she followed.

Naturally, the Fourth Elder wouldn't let the two children head outdoors alone. While Mirai, as a branch family member marked by the Caged Bird Seal, was expendable, Kiyo's safety was paramount.

Though a Chunin bodyguard was assigned to protect Kiyo, they remained discreet, keeping their distance to accommodate her independent streak.
