Chapter 19: CHAPTER 19 - The First Scientist Template
Dr. Genus, a character from the [One Punch Man] world, was a mad scientist of unparalleled genius. His ideas were so dangerous that no one supported his research. But precisely because of this, Dr. Genus spent decades working alone, perfecting the technologies of reversing aging and creating flawless clones. In addition, his research into biological genes was unmatched, leading to the creation of an immortal S-class hero, a Dragon-level monster, and several Ghost-level monsters.
In the [One Punch Man] world, only Psykos could rival Dr. Genus in the field of biological research. While Psykos focused on creating monsters, Dr. Genus' work covered the entire scope of human evolution.
As Dr. Kinos' immense knowledge began flooding into Hyuga Mirai's mind, it was clear that absorbing almost a century's worth of memories and insights would take time. Mirai lay still on his bed, absorbing the knowledge for an entire day, and by the following evening, he had fully integrated it.
"Phew, it's finally done. I guess I'm really lucky... getting Dr. Genus' knowledge on my first attempt."
Mirai closed his eyes, slowly recalling all the biological and genetic research he had absorbed. He was eager to put it to use, wishing he could immediately find a lab to experiment. The humans of the [Naruto] world were vastly different from those in [One Punch Man], with a cellular count twice as large. As a result, many children in the Ninja World could easily scale walls and leap across rooftops after refining their chakra.
Dr. Kinos' research was a great aid to Mirai, but he knew it wasn't a simple matter of copying it; the two worlds' people had fundamentally different physical compositions. Mirai would have to carefully study and adapt Kinos' techniques to his world.
*Sigh... Getting a lab and equipment is going to be a problem,* Mirai thought. The kind of research he had in mind required a significant amount of equipment. With his current savings, he could afford maybe half a microscope.
Looking for external funding, his options were limited to a few sources: the Third Hokage, Danzo, or the Hyuga clan's main house. However, none of these were ideal. Even though the Third Hokage was known for his amiable nature, Mirai didn't want to get too close. Danzo had a dark reputation, but he had also been under Sarutobi's suppression for decades. Mirai thought to himself that someone who could suppress Danzo for so long must have a ruthless streak, which made him uneasy.
People change over time. Perhaps the Third Hokage was once pure-hearted, but after so many years, selfishness had undoubtedly crept in. For instance, Danzo's research on Wood Release was something Sarutobi could not have missed. Root, Danzo's special operations division, relied heavily on funding from the ANBU, which Sarutobi oversaw. The financial resources used for studying Wood Release could not have escaped Sarutobi's notice.
"The Konoha Hospital has research equipment," Mirai thought, but only the deputy director or medical Jonin could apply for it. If he improved his medical ninjutsu, even if he didn't have the skill level of a medical Jonin, he might be able to borrow the lab based on his talent, though confidentiality would be a concern.
But secrecy wasn't a problem for Mirai. With his Byakugan, no one could monitor him unless they were from the Hyuga clan and had a deep understanding of biological genetics.
A growl from his stomach reminded him that he hadn't eaten all day, and after absorbing so much knowledge, he felt exhausted. "I should eat first, then think about the lab situation."
Mirai stood up and walked to the refrigerator. After checking, he found that his supplies were almost gone and barely enough for one meal. With a sigh, he grabbed some money and headed out for food.
He couldn't afford grilled meat, so he settled for the cheapest option: soy sauce ramen. He planned to eat around twenty bowls to fill himself up. When he arrived at the ramen shop, the owner, familiar with Mirai by now, asked how many bowls he wanted. Without needing to ask, the owner started preparing the ramen.
Mirai ate with impressive speed, though not rudely. While eating, he reflected on various matters.
He had recently joined a mission team, and based on Akimichi Fuu's intention, it seemed the goal was to train the three of them to quickly adapt to their roles and be capable of completing tasks independently. Mirai thought that with two Hyuga clan members and a member of the Akimichi clan, it was unlikely that Fuu intended to take them as disciples. Instead, Fuu would focus on imparting his ninja experience, aiming to guide them to becoming Chunin. Once that was done, he would be free of his obligations to them.
Mirai's time was likely to be tightly constrained for the foreseeable future. Though Fuu occasionally gave them a day or two off, there was still Hyuga Kiyo, the troublesome eldest daughter of the Hyuga clan's main house. Mirai could only use an excuse to take leave once or twice before it would be rejected.
"So, what I need to do next is to prove myself worthy of becoming a Chunin and raise my reputation." As a medical ninja, saving lives and showing compassion would be the best way to gain that reputation. This would also align perfectly with the spirit of the "Will of Fire."
With his current strength not being on par with Tsunade's, Mirai would need to leverage his talent and reputation to secure access to Konoha Hospital's lab.
By the time he finished his twenty-seventh bowl of ramen, Mirai realized he had overspent for the night. Patting his stomach, still about 70% full, he decided it was time to settle the bill and head home.
After overeating, it wasn't ideal to immediately work out, so Mirai decided to practice his medical ninjutsu instead. With the Third Shinobi World War rapidly approaching, he wished he could split himself in two to train more efficiently. However, when he had asked the Hyuga clan for permission to learn the Shadow Clone Jutsu, his request was denied. The clan only saw the need for him to perfect his Gentle Fist style. He found the reasoning laughable, especially considering it was rejected by Zosuke Hyuga, one of the clan's four elders. The only way he could learn the Shadow Clone Jutsu now would be if the clan leader, the head of the Hyuga clan, permitted it.
"Looks like I'll have to try asking Captain Akimichi Fuu," Mirai thought. Their team operated in a strict hierarchical system, and Fuu had no obligation to teach them any jutsu. Moreover, Fuu was usually distant, so Mirai wasn't sure if he would be willing to teach him the technique.
