Chapter 32: Forming New Techniques
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The three clashed fiercely. Yamamoto Ryusei fought against both Hyuga Natsuki and Uchiha Kagami, holding his own without losing ground.
Inuzuka Okami muttered, his expression stiff: "Ryusei's taijutsu is ridiculously strong. He's been able to hold his own against Natsuki's Gentle Fist for so long. But how is he even countering her attacks? I thought Gentle Fist could bypass physical defenses and directly damage internal organs with chakra."
"Look at his hands," Sarutobi Hiruzen interjected, his eyes narrowing as he observed Ryusei. "Every time Ryusei blocks a Gentle Fist strike, he coats his hands with dense chakra, preventing Natsuki's chakra from penetrating his body."
Inuzuka Okami's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait… does that mean Gentle Fist has been countered?"
Sarutobi Hiruzen gave him an exasperated look. "It's not that simple. To block Gentle Fist effectively, your chakra control and reserves need to vastly exceed your opponent's. This is just ordinary Gentle Fist, mind you. Techniques like the Eight Trigrams Palms would be much harder to counter, and even Ryusei would exhaust himself before long."
Hyuga Natsuki's face darkened as she reevaluated her strategy. She had thought immobilizing Ryusei would give her the advantage, but his taijutsu was far more refined than she anticipated. His movements were precise and relentless, targeting vital points with brutal efficiency. Not even her mirror techniques could gain the upper hand.
Hyuga Natsuki stepped back, her stance firming. She raised her palms and focused her chakra.
"Eight Trigrams: Thirty-Two Palms!"
Her strikes blurred as she unleashed a flurry of attacks. Yet, Ryusei weaved through the gaps of her strikes effortlessly, and when avoidance wasn't possible, he simply reinforced his hands with chakra to parry.
After completing the technique, Natsuki stood panting, her disbelief evident. "How are you dodging my attacks so easily?"
Ryusei smirked. "Because I'm faster than you." His voice was calm, his breathing steady. "My chakra fortifies my body, enhancing my speed and reflexes. You can't keep up."
Before she could respond, Ryusei closed the gap with alarming speed and aimed a punch at her face. However, Uchiha Kagami intercepted the strike just in time.
Ryusei withdrew his fist, chakra beginning to swirl around his arm. "Careful," he warned, "this punch will hit a lot harder."
Hyuga Natsuki and Uchiha Kagami both tensed, their eyes narrowing as they noticed the chakra surging in Ryusei's arm. The energy was so intense it seemed ready to spill over.
"Step back, Kagami," Natsuki said firmly. "I'll handle this."
Hyuga Natsuki began to spin rapidly, chakra ejecting from her palms and forming a protective sphere.
"Eight Trigrams: Palm Rotation!"
Ryusei responded with a powerful punch, enhanced by his strange chakra technique. The impact drove the chakra sphere backward, carving a two-meter-wide trench into the ground before slamming it into a nearby wall, leaving a massive three-meter hole.
When the dust settled, Natsuki emerged unscathed. Ryusei raised an eyebrow, feigning curiosity. "What was that technique just now?"
Natsuki straightened, her pride evident. "That's our clan's ultimate defense: Eight Trigrams: Kaiten. Impressive, isn't it? I originally saved it to counter your Arashi Kick, but I didn't expect you to force me to use it with just taijutsu."
Ryusei crossed his arms, his expression serious. "Absolute defense? There's no such thing. Every defense can be broken. How many more times can you use Kaiten?"
Natsuki frowned, sensing her depleted chakra. "Once more, at most. This round goes to you. What do you think, Kagami?"
Kagami nodded reluctantly. "We lost this time. Ryusei hasn't even used his Arashi Kick or strange power more than twice. If we keep fighting, we'll just tire ourselves out. I also see where I'm lacking."
Kagami's realization was clear: he lacked ninjutsu techniques to complement his teammates' taijutsu-heavy styles. He resolved to address this weakness.
Ryusei studied the trench carved by Kaiten and turned to Natsuki. "Could your Kaiten be used offensively, like Inuzuka Okami's Fang Over Fang?"
Natsuki hesitated before shaking her head. "No. Kaiten requires stationary spinning to maintain its defense. If I try to move, the rotation speed drops, and it loses its effectiveness."
"Unless..." Kagami interjected, "someone provides the momentum, like earlier. Or, you roll sideways, like the Akimichi Clan's Human Bullet Tank."
Natsuki's face turned red at the thought of mimicking such a technique. "Absolutely not!" She shuddered. "It's undignified, and it wouldn't work anyway."
The group chuckled before Ryusei created a shadow clone. "I have an idea. Let's test it."
He formed a small sphere of chakra in his palm, compressing and rotating it at high speed. The group watched intently as Ryusei's clone pressed the newly formed Rasengan against a nearby rock.
Boom!
The rock shattered, leaving a deep, spiral-shaped crater.
Sarutobi Hiruzen whistled. "Ryusei, you're a genius."
Natsuki inspected the damage, unimpressed. "It's powerful, but it's still not as focused as Kaiten."
Ryusei nodded. "True. That's because the chakra isn't spinning in multiple directions. If I refine it further..."
At that moment, Senju Hashirama and Senju Tobirama arrived, observing the young shinobi's progress.
"Impressive work," Tobirama noted, his analytical gaze on the Rasengan. "Your technique lacks multidirectional rotation, which would improve its efficiency. But it's a solid foundation."
The group bowed respectfully. "Lord Hokage. Lord Tobirama."
Hashirama beamed, clapping his hands. "No need for formalities! Seeing you all work together like this makes me proud. This is the future of the village."
As the group continued their experiments, Ryusei couldn't help but smile. Though he already knew the technique from memories of his past life, he felt a sense of accomplishment in recreating it here, surrounded by his comrades.
