Chapter 41: Into the Darkness
Following the path that rose through the lake, we headed to the altar of the snake god Morna. As they entered the large cave, a thin film brushed past him. Ivan realized that it was the barrier hiding the city of the naga.
Inside the barrier was a completely different world. Even the air that touched his skin felt different. Outside, the rain had stopped for the past few days and the weather was sunny, but it was a very cold and damp place. He felt an unpleasant sensation, as if something was putting him in its mouth and licking him.
Glowstone was embedded in the ceiling and it was scattering light, but it was too dim since it had been a long time.
Delfino murmured lowly as he floated a bead of light to brighten his sight.
“It’s a bad place. It’s like being in a snake’s mouth.”
“So it’s a snake den. Isn’t it a place that suits them?”
“I see. Is this where the naga used to live?”
“Long time ago.”
Ivan looked around with sharp eyes. Old and broken walls and buildings in a black and large waterway. There was moss everywhere, and it was filled with a damp, gloomy, dark, unknown odor.
It was originally a city that was much brighter and more beautiful than this. However, it has been abandoned for so long that it has became a ruin.
The Lizardmen who felt the presence of the snake god Morna and were excited also calmed down. The atmosphere was unsettling.
slurp.
To-do-duk!
There was the sound of something moving in the distance, the sound of rough water. The identity was unknown, but it was clear that it was not the time to enjoy the ruins of an old Naga.
“What are you going to do? Are you going to search right away?”
Ferocious Tooth did not readily answer Ivan’s question and bit his mouth. He pondered for a while, then shook his head.
“A little more preparation is needed. We can’t just go in while the orcs are chasing us.”
He suppressed the desire to jump in to find traces of the snake god Morna. He confirmed the existence of the ruins, so for now he was satisfied with it.
The city of Naga was quite large. It seemed that they could not check everything by searching quickly.
“The entrance is narrow and the inside is wide. Let’s block the orcs here. And call more warriors.”
Ferocious Tooth pulled a red jewel-like stone from its bosom. As soon as he concentrated his magic power, the red stone heated up.
It was a promised signal. The fact that the ruins were discovered, and that there is a danger.
The village must have known that the orcw were wandering around on a large scale. He didn’t know if they’re in a situation where they can come here or not, but it’ll work out somehow.
Unexpectedly, the Orcs put in quite a few troops, but this was originally the realm of the Lizardmen, not the realm of the Orcs. It didn’t look like they would be pushed back because of number.
Ferocious Tooth added as if he didn’t like.
“There are other tribes.”
Lizardmen were originally a very strong race with a sense of territory, even if they were the same race.
If the tribes are different, it is common to see them as competitors rather than a partner. Relations with other tribes might not be very good, but if the situation seemed to be bad, they could hold hands. (dlazarturead(dot)wordpress(dot)com)
Of course, even if that were the case, they would hide as much information as possible about the altar of Morna the snake god. Because they don’t want to hand over the glory of reawakening the sleeping goddess to another tribe.
“Well, then I see. I will follow your will.”
As Ivan answered that, he looked at the city that was still shrouded in darkness.
There’s something. Is it because the Lizardmen are similar to naga so that it hasn’t moved yet, or is it because it hasn’t woken up because it has been asleep for so long?
The Snake God Morna’s eyes were looking at the Lizardmen. It seemed to hold back the remnants of this abandoned city.
Tadadak!
The Lizardmen quickly went around the building near the entrance and started preparing to fight. Even in a narrow area, they grasped the structure of the building and moved diligently to create obstacles.
To prevent the orcs from moving freely, they have to restricted their movement and settled for an easy-to-attack position.
Having finished the preparation for the defense roughly, Ferocious Tooth requested that the Light Orb to be removed.
“The enemy is weak in the dark, but we are not. We don’t want to lose that advantage.”
Lizardman had a very good night vision. To Delfino and Ivan, even with the power of the faint glowstone, which only felt dim, they can see it clearly.
They also have a very sensitive sense of smell, so it was not difficult to distinguish objects in the dark.
It was not for nothing that Ivan was nervous about the smell when he only came into the forest.
Even dogs, cats or Komodo dragons can detect smells from several kilometers away, and what would a fantasy world’ lizardman can smell?
As Ivan glanced at Delfino, he nodded. He meant it was okay to get rid of the Light Orb.
“Okay. Then I’ll get rid of the Light Orb.”
As the Ferocious Tooth returned to their place, Delfino erased the floating beads of light. It got dark in an instant, but as Delfino muttered a prayer again, Ivan could see everywhere.
“It is a technique to brighten the eyes at night. It may be difficult to adapt to the strange vision.”
It was a little awkward because it was completely different from his usual view. But on the other hand, it was also a method that Ivan was familiar with.
‘Isn’t this an infrared view?’
This is exactly what the video was taken with an infrared camera. Maybe he didn’t even know that the divine art used by Delfino was a similar principle. Using supernatural powers instead of science.
He couldn’t find out the details, since Ivan was a liberal arts student.
‘It’s really the talent of a priest who worships the God of Light.’
Ivan, who had passed it on like that, suddenly hardened his expression. An ominous foreboding passed, and his whole body tensed spontaneously.
The sense of a warrior, the feeling of one who uses the power of his whole body.
The enemies are approaching. The battle was imminent.
“Ready for battle! Enemies are coming!”
As Ivan shouted low, the Lizardmen quickly returned to battle stance. Belief in humans and likes and dislikes were second, but Ivan’s individual abilities were recognized. He was a great warrior. He thought that if he had announced the battle, there must be a reason.
“Delfino, have this with you.”
He took out a crossbow and a bolt from his inventory and held out. There is a risk of attacking your allies when fighting, so he has to be patient, but it will be quite useful when they show up.
Squeak.
As Delfino accepted the crossbow, Ivan took out his bow and pulled it out. Now he caught his breath, looking for the orcs who would come over here soon.
Sueup- Whoo-.
A quiet time when only the sound of a low breath resounds. A few seconds and minutes were like hours of waiting.
But in the end, the guys showed up. The orcs came in with torches in their hands, one at a time.
Ivan waited a little longer to find the optimal point of attack.
‘Wait, not yet. Now!’
The arrow that Ivan had fired narrowed the distance in an instant and pierced the orc’s chest.
Pew!
Ivan continued firing arrows. Delfino also shot a crossbow diligently.
It pierced through their limbs, got them stuck in their heads, and sometimes even pierced their chests or thighs.
Those holding torches were sure to hit as much as they did. As they fell, the torch they were carrying rolled across the floor.
Before they got used to the darkness, they attacked quickly and took the light again.
When the group that was at the forefront was destroyed, the orcs began to react to the flying arrows.
“Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!”
Pak!
The arrow that was flying with a strange sound was blocked. Orcs with shields blocked the arrows, those without shields, blocked arrows with the dead bodies of their colleagues who had already stopped breathing.
As they tried to advance slowly while blocking that, the Lizardmen jumped in.
Shh!
They ran silently and beheaded the orcs. It was like a hunter, hiding in the dark and killing enemies. (dlazarturead(dot)wordpress(dot)com)
Sometimes a good warrior and a good hunter are the same thing. The Lizardmen were like that.
When he half dealt with those who came in first, the atmosphere suddenly changed.
bang!
One of the Lizardman warriors became bloody and flew and crashed into the wall. Beyond that, an orc with a large size was smiling while clenching and opening his fists repeatedly.
“Because you’re a Lizardman, your fists are good! I’ll peel off your skins and turn them into shields!”
It wasn’t an ordinary orc. Lizardmen wouldn’t be pushed back just because of the size, it seemed his power is much stronger than lizardman.
Ivan, who was shooting the bow from behind, raised his spear.
Then he kicked off the building and headed towards him. He also had a spear in one of his hands.
Cheeky!
bang!
He narrowed the distance with thunder steps and swung the spear.
A blow that carried Ivan’s weight and speed. But the guy blocked it with one hand and chuckled.
“Are you Ivan?”
bang!
Ivan threw his ax instead of answering, but he only avoided it by tilting his head slightly. Then he asked, frowned in annoyance.
“I’am asking you, human!”
thud!
He slammed his foot down hard and slammed his spear.
Long reach suitable with his large size. A spear fell over his head before Ivan pulled himself away.
“Keok!”
He raised the spear to block the attack, but a moan came from deep inside. His power was too strong. For a moment, it felt like he was being shoved into the ground.
‘Thor!’
As Ivan cried out to himself, the power of the thunder god rested upon him. A heavy and destructive force flowed from within.
Cheeky!
Lightning flashed and pushed the guy’s spear away. He smiled at the prickly taste of his hand.
“Yeah, it’s you. The guy who broke the heart of his stupid little brother.”
The orc’s expression, who had been smiling like that, was immediately distorted like a ghoul. And with anger, he shouted loudly.
“I am Srakan! I will avenge his blood!”
As he swung his spear, the surrounding buildings collapsed. With all his power, he slammed it down on Ivan.
Ivan’s body slid backwards. His wrists throbbed and his legs trembled. What an absurd power. It was the skill of a true orc warrior.
A real Named. A powerful person whose name is widely known around the world.
“Damn Thor, lend me a little more power.”
The lightning that ran through Ivan’s body grew thicker. His strength grew stronger, and his body grew stronger.
But Ivan was feeling it. The crack is getting bigger and bigger. The vessel containing the power of the gods is gradually breaking down. The side effects that had been delayed for so long were gradually hitting him.
Far, far away. He could feel the gods in Asgard watching him. Some people were bored, some people were anxious, some people were excited.
Ivan clenched his teeth.
bang!
He bumped into him again. This time, Srakan’s body was pushed back. It scratched his chest and his armor exploded. But it was Ivan who vomited blood.
Drip.
Thick blood flows out. Delfino’s divine power rushed into his body, but he could not attach the broken vessel. It was a spiritual issue, not a physical one. His treatment was meaningless.
Cheeky!
The power that was building up in his body was still strong, but he couldn’t release it. In the end, Thor took back the power that he had lent him.
“Ugh!”
Ivan staggered at the sudden strengt that escaped. He couldn’t give up. If Ferocious Tooth had not caught Srakan’s attention, he would have died.
Ivan, who spit out blood, raised the spear. He couldn’t give up. He had to find a way.
While he was thinking about how he could defeat him, Srakan’s spear ripped through Ivan’s side. He was so fast that he couldn’t even react.
“Ivan! Ivan!”
I heard Delphino screaming. He was running, but Ivan couldn’t even shout to him not to come, or even turn his head. his body loses strength.
Paang!
Kieek-.
“What else is this!”
The sight of something large rising through the waterway came into view. He couldn’t figure out what it was. Ivan lost his mind.
