"The earlier parts I understand, but what is the Avengers Initiative?"

George feigned confusion as he asked.

Black Widow shook her head.

"I can't reveal the specifics of the plan, but joining it will allow you to become a hero for humanity. It's somewhat similar to the original X-Men concept, and I believe it aligns with your ideals."

"Is that all? Anything else?"

George didn't pursue the matter of the Avengers Initiative further.

Black Widow calmly attempted to persuade him:

"That's all. If you agree, your days of living on the run will be over.

Otherwise, with your superhuman abilities, no government in the world would feel at ease. They'll keep hunting you, and you'll have no choice but to keep running—dragging a group of children with you as you go.

I imagine the kids want to live normal lives. Surely, you'd want the same—to live like a normal person."

Over the past few days, she had meticulously studied and analyzed the profiles of George, Professor X, Wolverine, and the mutant children. She knew exactly what to say to appeal to them.

From her experience, she was confident George wouldn't refuse her offer.

"Sorry, but I have no interest in your so-called Avengers. The children don't want to be 'adopted' either. I'd appreciate it if you stopped bothering us from now on."

However, George's reply took her by surprise.

"Mr. George, I hope you can reconsider—"

"No need to think it over. That's my final answer."

George raised his hand, cutting her off mid-sentence.

After a brief silence, Black Widow's expression turned serious.

"Mr. George, you must understand that with so many mutants gathered together, an unregulated group like yours poses an immense threat to global stability.

As an organization dedicated to protecting world security, we can't simply stand by and do nothing. Are you really willing to take these children and go against the entire world?"

"What's this? A threat? And here I thought your backside had healed already," George retorted.

His tone wasn't angry; in fact, it was teasing, almost mocking.

If he had truly been just a mere lab experiment, with no restored Professor X and so many mutant children to protect, perhaps he would have reluctantly accepted SHIELD's terms.

Unfortunately for them, he wasn't. He had enough power to reject SHIELD outright—and no fear of their threats.

"Ugh…"

Hearing his jab, Black Widow's mouth twitched slightly. She'd completed countless dangerous missions, often walking a fine line between life and death, narrowly escaping the grip of the Grim Reaper.

But being spanked—and then mocked about it—was a first for her.

"In that case, Mr. George, don't blame us for taking action!"

At this point, she had no choice but to call in the agents she'd stationed nearby and forcibly subdue George and his group.

Professor X was incapacitated, no longer a combatant. Wolverine seemed to have regained his youth, but they'd prepared tranquilizer guns strong enough to bring down an elephant. One shot, and he'd be out of commission.

The children were still young and easily manageable. Each one could be restrained with a mutant ability suppressor—no problem at all.

The biggest challenge was likely George himself. He possessed multiple mutant abilities and could fly, making him hard to capture.

But once they secured the others, George would have no choice but to surrender.

"Commence the operation!"

At Black Widow's command, her earpiece remained eerily silent. There was no response, and a chill ran down her spine.

"If you're waiting for those agents hiding in the grove across the road, I'm afraid you're out of luck," George said, his mocking voice ringing clearly in her ears.

"Was it you?"

Black Widow froze in place.

George wagged a finger in the air.

"It wasn't me. It was our school's lovely students. Don't underestimate them."

As George finished speaking, the school gates swung open. Under the guidance of Professor X and Wolverine, the students slowly entered, dragging SHIELD's elite agents behind them.

Some agents were tightly bound by green vines, others were twitching and foaming at the mouth from electric shocks, and a few had large lumps on their foreheads, unconscious. None of them were dead, but not a single one was in any shape to fight back.

"How could this happen?"

Seeing her entire ambush team wiped out, Black Widow felt a chill in her heart. Her gaze shifted to the younger-looking Professor X, and her pupils contracted in shock.

What's going on?

Is this a clone of Professor X? Or has he somehow been cured and rejuvenated?

If it's the former, it's nothing serious. But if it's the latter, this could spell big trouble.

A Level 4 mutant like Professor X possesses terrifying power.

"Principal, we've completed the mission. Neither of the professors had to lift a finger—it was all of us working together who took them down."

Rictor and X-23 stepped forward proudly, seeking praise.

George smiled warmly and nodded in approval.

"Well done. Go and think about which amusement park you want to visit. In a few days, the professors will take you there to celebrate."

When he had first rescued these kids, it wasn't just about their powers—it was also about his own sense of conscience.

But looking at them now, after a few years of proper training, they might genuinely become a capable team of superhumans. They might not stand a chance against a threat like Thanos, but when it came to earthly organizations like SHIELD or Hydra, they'd more than hold their own.

These children, born through surrogacy using genetic material selected by Xander Rice, were no different in potential from natural mutants. Unlike the fully matured clones with fixed capabilities, these kids had room to grow.

Furthermore, Xander Rice had intentionally chosen mutant genes that were suited for combat, as these children were originally designed as weapons of war.

None of them had weak abilities like those capped at Level 2. Instead, they mostly possessed Level 3 or even high-Level 3 mutant abilities.

"What do you want?"

Black Widow's expression turned grave as she questioned George.

George stepped closer, standing before her.

"The question should be, what does SHIELD want? We only wish to live here peacefully, but it's you who came to disturb us."

"You must understand, once your mutant identities are exposed, you'll lose all choices. It's only a matter of time.

Even if you kill us all now, the outcome won't change."

Black Widow kept pressing, attempting to sway George's mindset with psychological pressure.

"I won't kill you. Throw them all out."

George leaned in, lifting Black Widow's chin with his hand before shaking his head. Then, he instructed Wolverine to drag the subdued agents out to the school's gates.

"Tell your Director, Nick Fury, to come here in person tomorrow at 2 PM. I have something to discuss with him—something that concerns SHIELD's very survival.

The ones without a choice aren't us—it's you."

With a wave of his hand, George cast a spell that forcibly ejected Black Widow from the school grounds.

"Zombie Drift!"

Black Widow found herself standing outside the school, expelled by George's magic.

"Honestly, if I hadn't allowed you in, you wouldn't have even set foot here. Don't overestimate your strength."

Standing at the school gates, George waved his hand again, and a barrier of magical runes enveloped the school once more.
