Chapter 59: Future Teaser (Extra Chapter)
A small gift today, because the last chapter was short.
Anyway, enjoy.
---------
It was another normal day in St. Freya after an intense training session for the Valkyries.
Thanks to the Honkai Impact 3rd game, more students were now eager to study the history of the previous civilization and the Honkai. Although the lore in the game was completely different from reality, some concepts and information about past events were accurate—such as the history of the previous era and the heroes who fought at that time, who are known by the name, The Flame-Chasers.
The introduction of the MANTIS had piqued the Valkyries' interest. These were the first heroes who fought against the Honkai. While classes at the academy covered some aspects of the previous civilization's history, there was no mention of the Flame-Chasers or their stories, unlike in the game. Now, players could learn about the MANTIS through their Remembrance Vessels and dialogues.
---
"The Flame-Chasers were so amazing in the game, especially Elysia. I didn't know she was from the previous era, the same as senior Fu Hua."
Lena, a Valkyrie, was chatting with her two friends as they walked through the academy grounds. It had become a daily routine for the students—after school, they would talk and gossip about anything interesting. These days, the new story of the Elysian Realm and its characters was a hot topic.
Her friend, Terra, smiled and replied,
"Yeah, I always see her coming to the company or the academy, chatting with the girls. She's just as cheerful and lovable as she is in the game. You can't help but be drawn to her."
Terra touched her cheeks, blushing as she recalled the time Elysia spoke to her and complimented her on how cute she was. It had been an embarrassing yet unforgettable moment.
"Hmph! Well, I still don't trust her,"
Olivia interjected, crossing her arms.
"Just like Mobius said, every Flame-Chaser has a dark secret. You never know what she might be hiding behind that smile."
Terra smirked at Olivia's cold response.
"Heh~ says the one who turned red when Elysia grabbed your hand."
"W-What are you talking about?!" Olivia stammered, her face heating up.
"That time, I just thought she wanted a handshake!"
She remembered her first encounter with the pink-haired elf. Elysia hadn't let go of her hand after shaking it and had even started rubbing it gently.
"Hoo~ you have such soft hands—just as soft as mine~,"
Remembering Elysia's complement, made her blush furiously.
Olivia turned away, trying to hide her embarrassment.
"Fufufu. You're acting just like Mobius. No wonder you like the Doctor more than the other Flame-Chasers,"
Terra teased, enjoying Olivia's reaction.
---
"Hey, isn't that… the boss of MiHoYo?"
Lena suddenly pointed toward Luo Mo, who was walking toward the company building.
Next to him were two people.
"Yeah, and… isn't that the principal?" Terra asked, looking confused. The third person walking with them was unfamiliar.
The unknown woman had long white hair and red eyes and wore a black-and-red dress. She was taller than the principal and bore a striking resemblance to Theresa, as if they were related.
"That woman… she reminds me of someone, but who…?" Lena muttered, rubbing her chin as she tried to recall.
The three girls knew about Theresa's twin sisters, Luna and Kongming. There were even rumors of their connection to the MiHoYo boss, as many Valkyries knew he lived at the principal's residence.
The white-haired woman noticed the girls staring, smiled warmly, and waved at them. In response, Lena and Terra waved back, their expressions puzzled, while Olivia observed silently.
As the group passed, Olivia noted Theresa's gloomy, dark expression as she walked between Luo Mo and the mysterious woman.
"Weird. I wonder if she's another relative of the principal," Lena mused aloud.
St. Freya had seen many new arrivals recently—first the people from the Golden Courtyard, then the principal's twin sisters, followed by a cheerful woman who often spent time with Fu Hua. Lastly, Lena remembered spotting someone who resembled Lady Rita.
"Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if four more people showed up looking just like the principal,"
Terra joked, shrugging her shoulders.
"But what if she's more than a relative?" Olivia said, her voice serious.
Terra gave her a questioning look. "What do you mean?"
"Didn't you notice the principal's expression when she looked at that woman? She seemed… depressed."
Terra smacked her hand in realization, though her guess was far from accurate.
"Ah! You mean that woman is actually the principal's mother!"
"What?! No, don't be ridiculous. She might be her older sister or cousin,"
Lena retorted, denying the idea. Still, she couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity as she stared at the mysterious woman.
Finally, it clicked.
'Could she be Luna's mother?' Lena wondered silently.
"Just think about it. Why would the Boss live in the same house as the principal unless there's a relationship between them?"
Olivia's demeanor shifted, her aura transforming into that of a detective—reminiscent of Fu Hua during the Ring Project.
"Maybe because he's a family member?" Terra guessed.
"Maybe, but I think there is more than that. The principal is much older than us. It's even mentioned in the game that she can't grow taller," Lena interjected, joining Olivia's theorizing. She adjusted her glasses, as if preparing for serious discussion.
"But that's just in the game. Things could be different in reality," Terra countered.
"Not to mention, that woman looked a lot like the principal—and she's even taller and… bigger," Terra added, her eyes darting awkwardly.
Lena's expression flattened. She understood exactly what Terra meant.
"We already know that Luna and Kongming are the principal's twin sisters. But what if they're not clones, as the game suggests? What if they're real siblings?" Olivia proposed, her tone thoughtful.
"Wait, wait—you mean…"
Lena's eyes widened as realization dawned. She turned to Olivia, who nodded, confirming her suspicions.
"Just like how Kiana and her older sisters have completely different features but share the same mother. Maybe Principal Theresa, Luna, Kongming, and that woman have a similar relationship."
"Wait! Are you saying the principal is secretly Luna and Kongming's mother?!" Terra exclaimed in shock.
Both Lena and Olivia stared at Terra in disbelief. They had momentarily forgotten that Terra wasn't the brightest student in their class.
Confused by their reaction, Terra tried to defend her theory.
"I mean, it makes sense, right? Maybe Theresa is married to the Boss, and Luna and Kongming are their children. Because of the principal's condition—being unable to grow taller—they look like siblings instead of a parent and kids."
Olivia sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "No, that's not what I meant. I was thinking that woman might be the principal's mother."
"What?!"
Now it was Terra's turn to be surprised.
"Think about it," Olivia began. "Everyone knows that the bishop is her grandmother. Despite that, the bishop still looks like she's in her twenties. So, it wouldn't be surprising if the principal's mother looked like she's eighteen."
"Hm… yeah, that makes sense," Lena agreed, rubbing her chin as she pieced the puzzle together.
"If we use Miss Kiana's family as an example, then that woman could be the real mother of Principal Theresa, Luna, and Kongming. And it seems Lady Luna resembles her mother a lot—just like Miss Kiana resembles Lady Cecilia."
"Wow, I didn't even notice that. I keep forgetting that Kiana's sisters have different hair colors," Terra admitted, scratching her head in embarrassment.
The trio turned their attention back to the principal, who was walking into the company building with the Boss and the mysterious woman.
"Wait, there's still something I don't get. What does the Boss of MiHoYo have to do with all of this?" Terra asked, raising an eyebrow as she looked at Olivia for answers.
In response, Olivia smiled smugly, crossing her arms. "Isn't it obvious? The Boss must be Principal Theresa's father."
"...What?!!"
Terra and Lena were both stunned by Olivia's bold claim.
"Wait, wait, wait—that can't be true, right?" Lena asked, rubbing her temples as if trying to stave off a headache.
"Y-Yeah! Even though the Boss looks older than us, there's no way he could be the principal's father! She's supposed to be the same age as my mom," Terra added, refusing to believe the possibility.
But Lena hesitated. "...Now that I think about it, it might be possible."
"W-What?! Lena?!" Terra looked at her friend in disbelief.
"Although I hate to admit it—and I also hate that Boss—Olivia might be right," Lena said reluctantly.
"I mean, how many people do we know who are older than us but still look young?" she continued.
The list was short but compelling: the principal, senior Fu Hua, Elysia and her companions, and the Overseer of Schicksal.
If the Boss of MiHoYo was also one of these people, similar to Otto Apocalypse, then Olivia's theory might hold water.
"Yeah, it makes sense," Olivia said smugly.
In the end, Terra couldn't help but agree. The existence of the Honkai had changed everything they knew. Even though Teacher Himeko had told them that Honkai Impact 3rd was just a game, and a way to learn about the Honkai and the past, there were still mysteries about what was real and what wasn't.
---
From that day on, a new rumor began spreading among the Valkyries and the residents of far east island.
The two couples walking happily with their little daughter were actually the principal of St. Freya and her parents.
While only the Valkyries and a few employees at MiHoYo knew the truth about Theresa's adult identity, most people believed she was just a cute little girl who loved spending time with her loving parents.
