Little Anne stood under the scorching sun as she helped the middle-aged woman remove weeds from the garden "An an,go get the watering can for me, quick !" "Okay, grandma!" Anne ran into the old small house close to the garden and quickly ran back with a watering can, smiling she said "grandma, take !" "Good girl" grandma took the can and patted her head in return smiling at her, earning a giggle from Anne in return.
When Anne was given to her, she wanted to throw this daughter of a witch away, but then she just couldn't dispose a child, a cute one at that, so she reluctantly kept it and slowly found the child different and sweet that she didn't believe if she was Emilie daughter, and she subconsciously felt that she looked a lot like Emily but Emily and Emilia, so she didn't doubt anything! Emily was always kind and humble while Emilia was the opposite, so Anne being different from her was strange and suspicious, but she couldn't stop liking the little thing.
" Grandma, when are we going to the park ?" Anne asked excitedly. "Mmm, we'll go there at the weekend, when there's no school, okay!" Grandma knew why Anne loved going to the park, Anne had always yearned for parental love and she knew it, she just felt bad and took her to the park one day and since then she always wanted to go the park, though Anne felt sad when seeing other children with their parents, she knew and accepted that her parents didn't want her.....
YES !! , she lied to Anne about her parents, she told her that her parents didn't want her not that her parents were dead, she knew Anne would go back home to her, son so she lied, and then they'll all act like family, she really wanted things to go like that, it's just that anytime she told Caleb about it, he would be indifferent or change the topic, he didn't even ask about her, making her pity the poor girl.
" really?" Anne excited voice broke grandma's thought and she smiled saying " Yes!!" and they kept gardening for a few hours before grandma got tired and they both decided to go out to buy groceries and household materials.
Walking through the peaceful streets of the countryside, with people passing by greeting grandma, Anne saw a store where winter clothes were sold and turned to grandma and said "grandma, we should buy a sweater from this store, you don't have many warm clothes to wear during this season, and you're old and weak, what if you catch a cold ? " Grandma smiled and said "my son will send some for me, no need to spend money and unnecessary things beside, your school fees haven't been paid yet!" reason was Caleb her son really didn't care if Anne goes to school or not, so she always used small of her pocket money given to her by her son to make sure Anne went to school, Anne nodded in return, and they finally arrived at the grocery store and bought the things they needed. As they arrived home they saw an expensive car parked at the entrance of their house. Curious Anne asked her grandma" grandma are you expecting any guest today?" and grandma turned to Anne nodding "no" . So they both entered into the house and saw Caleb, Anne hid her curiosity and just followed there as grandma walked towards her son smiling she hugged him. " Son ! ,why didn't you tell me you were coming today? , I could have made something nice for you " Caleb smiled pulling from her embrace saying "I wanted to surprise you, and ..... Also tell you something important!" after saying this he turns to look at the little girl staring at him curiously, he didn't expect her to be this beautiful, and he felt like she looked a lot like Emily but quickly dropped the idea and turned his gaze back to his mother who was so excited after seeing her son who she hasn't seen in awhile now and said " come in, son, I'll quickly prepare something for you to eat" she said as they all went inside, and she walked to the kitchen but quickly came out asking "how long are you staying for ?" but Caleb quickly replied looking at his watch "I'll be leaving, the earliest by 9 Am"
Grandma returns to the kitchen and started cooking, while Anne sat at the chair with him, with her head lowered, he didn't seem to want to strike a topic with her and kept scrolling through his phone, she quickly stood up and came back with a glass of water saying "grandma said we should entertain guest, sir, pls take this first before grandma finish cooking" Caleb raise his head to see the cute girl with her hand raise giving him water and felt itchy in his heart but didn't know why he just glanced at her indifferently and leaned back to the chair like a king watching a servant, and then used his eyes and eyebrows to demonstrate "keep it in the table" and Anne immediately understood and kept it on the table in front of her. She was curious why he didn't want to speak to her, but still smiled and sat back down. The atmosphere was awkward with Anne feeling weird and Caleb not touching the water, and just kept scrolling through his phone, to be frank Anne was scared by the way he looked at her with disgust and disdain, she had never been looked at like that before, so she was flustered.
After a while , grandma was done cooking, they all had dinner and after eating, Anne wanted to help grandma clean the dishes but, Caleb glared at her, and she shivered in fear, so only grandma and Caleb helped in the dishes and clearing of the tables, she didn't know what she did that made him hate her. Soon after, Caleb requested to speak with his mother in private. So the two of them went out for a stroll in the garden ...
