Chapter 69: Chapter 68

After finding a tree roughly the same height as Mike to use as their Christmas tree, Mike's family of four began decorating both their home and the tree.

Most families had already started preparing for Christmas, but Mike had been preoccupied with other matters. As a result, their decorating was delayed until Christmas Eve. Despite the late start, they worked efficiently, completing everything in just one afternoon.

The next morning, on Christmas Eve, Mike woke early and smiled as he watched the snowflakes falling gently outside.

It was snowing.

After preparing breakfast, Mike called for his three sons. Clark obediently got up, but Eric and Charles remained wrapped in their quilts, stubbornly resisting.

A few moments later, Clark came downstairs, ruffling his messy hair.

"Good morning, Dad," he greeted.

Mike nodded and handed him a slice of bread spread with jam.

"Thanks," Clark said, taking a bite and glancing at the heavy snow outside. A flicker of excitement danced in his blue eyes as he thought of something fun.

Just as the two were finishing breakfast, Eric and Charles came running downstairs, shouting.

"It's snowing! Woohoo!"

"Dad, why didn't you call me earlier?" Charles demanded, righteous indignation in his voice.

Mike's face darkened. He looked at Charles, who was staring at him accusingly, and flicked his forehead.

"Ouch!" Charles yelped, looking betrayed.

"I called you three times," Mike said coldly. "Did you wake up?"

Clark, suppressing a grin, mimicked Charles' voice. "Dear Dad, I'll sleep for just a little while longer…"

"Hahaha!" Eric burst out laughing.

Charles flushed red and pointed at Eric. "You were the same!"

Eric smirked. "I woke up three seconds before you!"

"What can you even do in three seconds?" Charles retorted.

"Still, I'm three seconds ahead of you!"

"You—"

"Eat your breakfast!" Mike interrupted sternly.

Both boys fell silent and sat at the table. Mike knew that if he didn't intervene, the bickering would never end.

As they ate, Clark pointed outside. "Eat quickly!"

The two younger boys smiled mischievously, their excitement growing as they eyed the snow outside.

After hastily devouring their bread and eggs and gulping down milk, Eric and Charles bolted to the yard without even washing their faces, gleefully running through the snow.

Mike smiled and shook his head before stopping Clark, who was about to follow. "Wait. Take gloves and hats for your brothers."

"I don't need them," Clark replied.

"I'm not talking about you—I'm talking about them."

"Oh…" Clark quickly went upstairs, while Mike began tidying up the breakfast table.

The heavy snow didn't dampen the children's excitement. As Mike washed the dishes, he watched the boys through the window, a warm smile spreading across his face.

They ran around the yard, eventually starting to build snowmen. Unfortunately, each creation turned out more grotesque than the last.

When Eric's snowman was deemed the ugliest and laughed at by his brothers, he angrily destroyed all three snowmen in a fit of frustration.

"Ah! My daddy was smashed!" Charles exclaimed dramatically, glaring at Eric with teary eyes.

Clark, meanwhile, looked stunned. "Wait…you were making Dad?"

"Yeah! Doesn't it look like him?" Charles asked, pointing at the remnants of his snowman.

"I thought you were making a gnome."

"Hahahaha!" Eric doubled over laughing, tears streaming down his face.

Charles' face darkened, and he bent down to form a snowball. Without hesitation, he hurled it at Eric, hitting him squarely in the face and smothering his laughter.

"Hahaha! Serves you right!" Charles crowed triumphantly. Even Clark couldn't help but chuckle.

Eric froze, wiped the snow off his face, and, glaring at Charles, scooped up two snowballs of his own.

Bang! Bang!

One snowball brushed past Charles' shoulder, while the other hit Clark on the head.

Eric's face turned sheepish as he looked at Clark. "Oops…"

Seeing Clark's displeased expression, Eric turned and fled, shouting, "Don't come any closer!"

Clark smirked and quickly gave chase.

As the snowball fight escalated, Charles joined in, and soon the two brothers had Eric buried in snow.

"You've forced me to do this!" Eric roared, pointing dramatically at his brothers before running into the utility room.

Clark and Charles exchanged confused glances. Moments later, Eric emerged, a sinister grin on his face. Behind him, several shovels floated ominously, as if ready for battle.

"Die!" Eric declared, waving his arms. The shovels sprang into action, scooping up snow and hurling snowballs at his brothers.

Snowballs rained down on Clark and Charles, who had no choice but to scatter and hide.

Panting, Charles found a hiding spot and sighed in relief, thinking he was safe for now. But he failed to notice the metal basin hanging above him, filled with snow.

A second later, the basin tipped over, dumping its icy contents onto Charles.

"Hahaha!" Eric laughed victoriously.

Before he could celebrate further, several snowballs flew toward him. His shovels quickly formed a protective barrier, deflecting the projectiles.

Feeling smug, Eric prepared to launch another attack. But then, Clark moved like a blur, pelting Eric with snowballs at lightning speed.

Eric raised an iron basin to shield himself. "Hah! You can't get me now!" he declared.

"Eric!" Charles shouted angrily as he stepped forward. Placing two fingers on his temple, Charles unleashed his telekinetic powers, immobilizing Eric and rendering his defenses useless.

"Oh no…" Eric muttered, realizing he was helpless.

"Quick, bury him!" Charles shouted to Clark.

Clark grinned and got to work, circling Eric at super speed until the boy was completely buried under snow.

"That's too much!" Eric protested as he struggled free. With a defiant roar, he launched another attack, and the battle resumed.

Watching the chaos in the yard, Mike couldn't help but laugh. For some reason, the snowball fight reminded him of an epic war.

Shaking his head, he stepped outside and called out, "Be careful! Don't catch a cold!"

The boys froze and turned to look at him in unison.

Mike's heart sank. "I'm warning you…don't even think about it!"

"Catch Dad!" Charles yelled, and the three boys lunged toward Mike, snowballs in hand.

Mike turned and ran, their laughter ringing through the air.

For a moment, joy and warmth filled the entire yard as the family reveled in the magic of Christmas Eve.
