Chapter 21-Curios elf
*Splash, splash.* While Aella was still daydreaming with her eyes closed, she heard someone get out of the water. But she wasn't interested enough to open her eyes and find out who it was, so she stayed just like she was, and continued her daydreaming without moving a muscle.
That is until she heard that someone moving in her direction. Aella heard how they were coming closer and closer, so when that person was only a few steps away, she opened one of her eyes to see who it was.
The mysterious person revealed to be June in her birthday suit. The blond elf was now standing near Aella and just looking at her in a daze. ''Wanna touch them?'' Aella couldn't really tell where June was looking, but she knew that June was looking at her, so she offered June to touch her chest. It was a great way to get the elf out of her daze, plus she wouldn't mind if June took her on the offer.
''What? No!'' Aella's offer took June by surprise, so it took a second to process what was offered to her.
Seeing June's reaction and her blushing cheeks Aella couldn't help but tease her little bit more. ''You sure? They're quite bouncy, good for entertainment and stress relief.'' While saying that Aella grabbed her own boobs and squeezed them a couple of times.
''Ah... yes I'm sure.'' June didn't expect Aella to continue this, so it took her a moment to compose herself. Her cheeks were still burning but she was somewhat calmer now.
''Well if you're sure, but don't be shy if you change your mind.'' After getting her fun teasing the elf, Aella put her hands back down and decided to figure out why June approached her. ''So I presume you wanted something else from me?''
''Yes, I just wanted to ask some questions.''
''Questions?'' Aella was a little confused because she had no idea what questions June wanted to ask her.
''Yes, questions about you, more precise about your kin.'' Aella could see that June's face lit up when she said that.
''Sure, but why? Don't you how books about my kin?'' Aella didn't fully know if the mortal world truly had books about her kin, but she was sure there has to be some of them. She didn't believe that there was no info about Safury.
''Yes, we do, but the information isn't really that easy to get. You have to understand to get something reliable you have to have Safury that can communicate, and those are either powerful or have a humanoid form, with some exceptions.'' Listening to June, Aella started to understand.
It wasn't that they didn't have books about Safury, it was just that they were mostly about basic information. But the more in-depth books were not hard to access per se, but you just need to know where to look.
''So it isn't that you want to learn new information about Safury, but you want to confirm what you have learned is true?''
''Yes.''
''Sure, ask the question, I will try to answer what I know.'' Aella didn't have anything better to do so she agreed to indulge this curios mage, and in exchange, she maybe will ask her own questions.
Hearing Aella agree to her request, June happily sat down next to Aella. ''The first question I have, is about your awakening. I saw it with my own eyes, but I do want to know how you fell in the process.''
''Well, there isn't much to tell, I just lose all the dealing of my body while my mind stays conscious in a dark space. After a while, the system offers what [skill] I want and then slowly the feeling of my body returns, so nothing exciting.'' While Aella told her experience nonchalantly June listened carefully.
''Ok, so talking about the system, how does it look to you?'' June shot another question at Aella the moment she finished answering the first question. ''I have read it looks different from ours.''
''You're not wrong there, we don't see levels, names, race, or anything like that, we only see our [skills], and no we don't even see our skill levels.'' Aella didn't mind June's enthusiasm so she calmly answered the second question.
''Right, so I know that Safury get stronger by awakening and absorbing mana. So I wanted to know how all that and how mana pool is different from where you store your growth mana.''
''Now that's a loaded question but sure.'' Aella got up from her sleeping position and got comfortable sitting in a lotus position. ''So we have you're regular mana pool, that everyone has, it's where we get mana when we use our [skills], then we have something like a separate pool, where mana that we passively absorb usually end up in.''
''Now there are times when the passive mana we absorb goes somewhere else than the growing pool. It's usually when our mana pool isn't full, or when our body needs something, like healing, food, sleep, and other similar things, in those moments part of the mana we absorb goes for those necessities.''
''Next is the difference between the two pools or containers. The regular mana pool you can imagine is like a rock, the container doesn't get bigger or smaller if nothing special happens, and when we go through awakening the container gets larger, so we can store more mana in them.''
''On the other hand, the growth pool, is made out of something stretchy. It constantly gets mana and when it gets full the container slowly stretches, and even if suddenly the container loses some mana it saves its shape without shrinking back. And so like that it slowly stretches until it reaches its limit, pops, and then we awaken, which results in the container getting bigger. Of course, we can speed up the process by absorbing mana from monster cores or other magical items, but we have to be careful because if the container is stretched too fast too much it could pop before it was its max size, and then it's just disaster, we either become mana gobblers or in the worst scenario, we can become mana storms.''
Aella decided to not reveal some information, like that when the mana in the regular mana pool runs out they can use mana from the growth pool, but if the mana in the growth pool runs out they die. After all, she wasn't so keen on giving information about that, so she just didn't say anything.
''Interesting, so another question I have, is about how many Safury are humanoids?'' After hearing the last question answered, June didn't hesitate to ask the next question.
''To be honest, I don't know, but we are much less than those who take the non-humanoid forms, but there are still plenty of us.'' Aella could answer this question because it was mentioned a little bit in one of the books she was reading.
''I see...''
This went on for a while, June asking questions and Aella answering them with the limited knowledge she had read in the books. It was quite amazing how June always had questions to ask.
