Chapter 2423: Path of Annihilation

When he saw the gentleness in the Mermaid Queen's expression, Zu An actually went on high alert.

Wait, sis, why are you suddenly like this? I didn’t even say anything!

Don’t come over here!

After learning of the Mermaid race’s behind-the-scenes story, he didn’t dare to get any closer to this woman. Otherwise, if the Shang sisters ended up disappearing as a result, it would be too late even for tears.

Mojard’s entire body went numb when he saw the two exchange looks back and forth. He felt like a third wheel who wasn't supposed to be here. He coughed lightly, reminding Zu An to at least retain some basic respect for his question.

Only then did Zu An react and say, “I can tell you, but you need to answer one of my questions first.”

“What question?” Mojard frowned slightly. But if he could figure who this was, answering some less sensitive questions didn’t seem to be entirely out of the question.

“Where did you put the Peacock Princess?” Zu An’s relationship with the Peacock race was very good, especially Kong Nanwu who was his good friend. He couldn't just watch as something ended up happening to her ancestor.

The Peacock Princess' situation was different from that of the Mermaid Queen. There was no record of the Gong surname in Zu An's time. He was worried that he would end up affecting the timeline if he got too involved there. But there was clearly a Peacock race in the future. He was worried that something might happen to Kong Nanwu’s side if he didn’t save them.

Sigh, I really have it way too hard…

The Mermaid Queen’s heart felt warm when she heard Zu An’s question.

He knows I took that huge risk to save the Peacock Princess, so that's why he still hasn’t forgotten to help me.

He really is amazing, really.

Zu An had to really force himself not to turn away when he sensed that burning gaze. He was getting more and more confused.

Just what the heck is going on with this Mermaid Queen?!

“Don’t worry, she’s not dead. She has already completely sided with us and will serve our lord from now on.” Mojard sighed in relief. That wasn’t a sensitive question, and it was fine to tell him.

“Nonsense! How could she possibly side with you? Just what did you do to her?!” The Mermaid Queen was shocked and angry. She was close to the Peacock Princess and they'd bonded a bit over their conversation a few days ago. She knew that the latter detested the monsters bitterly. How could she possibly side with them?

“Her choice to side with us is already a reality. This king treats his subordinates quite well. There is no need for the queen to trouble yourself over this,” Mojard said with a faint smile. Then, he turned to Zu An. His intention was clear.

I've already answered your question, so now it's your turn.

Zu An now replied, “I came from a place I cannot talk about. If I say my name, it will cause a lot of people to die and may even bring about the destruction of the world!”

The Mermaid Queen felt more and more relieved.

He did have secret troubles after all. No wonder he couldn't tell me before.

Mojard’s expression changed. “Your world follows the path of annihilation devoutly?”

Zu An was stunned. What he'd just said was the truth. If he told the people here that he was from the future, that could really end up shaking up the world. But the question Mojard asked in return was a bit interesting. What was this path of annihilation?

What kind of person was Mojard? He immediately sensed Zu An's strange expression and became angry. “You were lying to me!”

You have successfully trolled Mojard for +110 +110 +110…

“What is this path of annihilation you speak of?” Zu An figured that since Mojard already knew that wasn’t what he was, he might as well be straightforward.

Mojard said with a sneer, “You didn’t even know about that? Then it seems like you can only be so strong.”

He didn’t feel any more reservations after saying that, and charged at Zu An. As he moved, his body suddenly began to change. His arm and leg muscles began to rapidly swell, and soon, his entire body became a few sizes larger. He gave off the pressure of a giant prehistoric beast.

The Mermaid Queen quickly shouted, “Be careful, that is the monsters’ berserk mode! Their power and speed increase drastically, so you absolutely cannot fight him in close quarters!”

She played her harp as she spoke, sending some negative debuffs at Mojard. She didn’t know Zu An’s abilities or fighting method yet and didn’t dare to give him any buffs beforehand, worrying that it would negatively affect him instead. After all, the powerful had clear control over their own strength and speed. Suddenly changing them could easily bring about negative consequences.

Zu An gave Mojard a curious look and asked, “What material are your clothes made of? Why haven't they exploded even though you became so much bigger?”

Mojard was bewildered.

That’s what you’re concerned with at such a crucial moment in such an intense battle?

He felt as if this man in front of him could have some mental disorder. If he's a mental case, he ought to just be smacked to death. His expression became malicious as he sent a palm crashing down toward Zu An's head. The Mermaid Queen’s weakening sound rune only shone for a brief moment before it shattered under the power of his body. Mojard sneered. In front of absolute strength, these tricks were meaningless.

From how overbearing the enemy’s attack was, Zu An was worried that the pitiful little maid who was clinging to his leg tightly would be smacked into a bloody paste if he tried to dodge. That was why, with a wave of gentle force, he ‘kicked’ Peach over to the Mermaid Queen’s side. Meanwhile, he sent a palm strike to counter Mojard's.

The sizes of their bodies were just too different. His hand really was pitifully small under Mojard’s massive palm. But when they clashed, there was no sound at all; instead, there was something that was like a black hole in between. The force of their clash was so powerful that it instantly destroyed the space between their palms.

Mojard, who had pounced forward ferociously, was blown back. Zu An was also knocked back by over ten meters from the force; he remarked, “Your strength is pretty great after all.”

Zu An had decided to clash head-on to test out Mojard's strength a bit, and discovered that the latter was quite strong after all. This wasn't the weakened Mojard he knew, nor was the latter bound by any laws of the world.

“How refreshing!” Mojard laughed before striking again. Even without using Soulspeak, he was still powerful in close-quarters combat.

The two sides quickly tangled around each other, but Mojard quickly found himself getting annoyed. “Why don’t you fight for real if you have the skill? What meaning is there in using these kinds of tricks?!”

Zu An no longer fought against Mojard directly like the first time. Instead, there almost seemed to be a black hole covering his entire body. Mojard’s ki was always completely absorbed away before it even made contact with Zu An’s own, making the fight really frustrating.

You have successfully trolled Mojard for +120 +120 +120…

“Your respected self is still a well known figure for better or for worse. Why are you speaking such childish words?” Zu An’s tone carried a bit of ridicule.

Mojard choked. He knew this strange ability was also part of Zu An’s strength. There was no way he wouldn’t use it if he had it himself. But the absorption force was a bit too strong and not even his strength could deal with it. Furthermore, if he was careless, some of his body’s ki could even get sucked away.

He mused, “This feeling seems to resemble the legendary Taotie. What relationship do you have with the Taotie?”

Zu An was a bit surprised. This wasn’t the first time someone had said similar things. This Taotie was clearly a different thing from the monsters he'd encountered previously in the secret dungeon.

Could it be that there are more powerful Taoties across the realms?

“You called me someone who followed the path of annihilation before, and now you’re saying I have something to do with the Taotie. I feel as if you’re just guessing completely randomly or something.” Zu An taunted Mojard on purpose to see if he could gain any related information.
