In Honkai with Tom Cat

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Beginning the Lesson

After successfully sneaking into the computer room with Tom, Li Huan turned on the lights. The moment the lights came on, Li Huan felt as if he had gone blind.

The configuration of every computer in the room was top-notch; one might even mistake it for some sort of esports training center.

In his previous world, the best computer Li Huan had ever used was a laptop he bought during college.

It was intended for office use, provided by his family, but to prevent him from wasting time on games during his studies, the computer had limited storage—only 50 GB—so he couldn't download any large games.

Thanks to this, Li Huan couldn't join his classmates in online gaming during his college years. While others chatted about the latest popular games, he could only watch videos or play web-based games.

But enough about that.

Seeing these high-spec computers here, and realizing that students used them for classes, made Li Huan envious.

Damn capitalist school... I never had such good computers when I was in school.

After internally dissing the place, Li Huan waved to Tom. "Tom, lock the door. Make sure no one can get in!"

Tom nodded, pulling out a bunch of wooden planks from behind him, and hurried towards the door.

While Tom got to work, Li Huan began looking for the main power switch that controlled all the computers. In such school computer rooms, there was usually a master switch that controlled the power supply to all the computers.

You couldn't just turn them on individually; otherwise, the power consumption would be through the roof.

After a few minutes of searching, Li Huan finally found the master switch under the teacher's desk and turned it on.

*Ding!*

With a sound, all the computer monitors lit up. Li Huan then looked over to see Tom's progress.

Tom had already finished, and the door was completely secured with not just wooden planks, but also chains, locks, and various other security measures, ensuring that no zombies could get in.

Li Huan gave Tom a thumbs up, then pulled out a quick snack, a beef stick, from his pocket. He had bought it at a nearby supermarket, perfect as a reward for Tom.

He unwrapped it and tossed it to Tom.

Tom's eyes lit up as he caught the beef stick mid-air, happily chewing it on the ground. While Tom enjoyed his treat, Li Huan sat at a random computer in the last row and turned on the machine.

With the familiar Windows XP startup music, the screen displayed a very familiar interface.

"Wait, what? With such high specs, why is the system still Windows XP?"

This unexpected twist left Li Huan a bit speechless. "This is like putting a tractor engine in a Rolls-Royce... it doesn't match at all!"

But soon, he understood why. The system was probably installed to prevent students from downloading and installing online games during class. Even with a unified management system, leftover software might remain, allowing students to play during the next class.

By using Windows XP, any desire to game would be thwarted by the system's incompatibility.

Though it didn't really affect Li Huan.

He pressed the button to open the CD tray, inserted the disc labeled "Simplified Ancient Martial Arts," and closed the tray. The computer started reading the disc, and soon a media player popped up, automatically playing the content.

"It's starting."

Li Huan straightened up, swallowing nervously as he began watching the video.

"This video was produced by the Ancient Martial Arts Heritage Association in cooperation with the National Radio and Television Administration."

The opening line stated the video's source, with a red stamp from the National Radio and Television Administration in the bottom left corner to prove its authenticity. But no matter how he looked at it, Li Huan found it oddly amusing.

He couldn't help but comment, "This thing is even backed by the National Radio and Television Administration? Is martial arts mandatory for everyone?"

Before he could finish, a man appeared on the screen. He was dressed in a black martial arts uniform, with silver hair, looking like an elderly man.

Despite his white hair, the man's eyes were sharp, and his face carried a subtle smile, giving him a natural charm. Though he exuded the aura of an ordinary person, he stood tall and proud, displaying a resolute spirit.

Looking at this man, Li Huan couldn't help but tremble with excitement and blurt out, "Isn't that Stephen Chow?!"

[Yes, but also no.]

The system suddenly spoke:

[The man in the video does indeed resemble the comedic master from your previous world, but fundamentally, he is different.]

"What do you mean?"

Li Huan, snapping out of his excitement, asked in confusion.

[This man is merely one of the many personas derived from that comedic master. Just watch quietly and you'll understand.]

After the system's explanation, the man in the video began introducing himself.

"Hello, students. I am He Jinyin, the current inheritor of Ancient Martial Arts."

"I will be your instructor today, teaching you the fundamentals of Ancient Martial Arts."

"I kindly ask that you do not bring popcorn, seeds, peanuts, or soda to watch this."

"If you've already started snacking, I hope you'll be kind enough to share with your teacher first."

"Damn."

Li Huan couldn't help but laugh at the man's opening remarks.

"Remember, martial arts are for strengthening the body, cultivating the mind, and ensuring you don't get bullied. It's not to be used to harm others."

"Martial virtue is the foundation of Ancient Martial Arts. Being virtuous is the most basic quality of a disciple of Ancient Martial Arts."

"I hope everyone watching this video will become students who practice martial virtue and set a good example."

In the video, He Jinyin held a cup of tea, took a sip, and continued speaking.

"And now, I will teach you the basics of Ancient Martial Arts—endurance training."
