Mastering The Spear Technique
The Mirage spear thrust.
The spear technique might just sound like a simple spear thrust, but the execution was much harder than Brax expected.
The technique not only required perfect control over Qi, but also very sharp and accurate wrist movements.
While others practicing this spear technique might face difficulties regarding the Qi control aspect, Brax found the physical aspect of moving his wrist around more taxing, as it required him to be very fluid and quick at the same time.
The technique requires the user to have a fluid and fast-moving wrist and also apply Qi energy to the movements with equal speed and precision.
For example, If Brax changes the angle of the spear using his wrist, he will have to channel his Qi energy into the spear and trap the light source in place so that when Brax changes the angle of the spear once again, it would appear as if there are two spears at the same time.
So when he performs the same movement multiple times, it appears as if multiple spears are being thrust at the opponent at the same time.
Of course, mastering this move means that not a single spear mirage should fade away, disappear, or look fake. This is extremely hard to achieve, as the distance between the user and the opponent will be crossed in an instant with the speed that cultivators possess. So a user will have to perform this move between that very minute time gap that they have access to.
This move sounds complicated, and it is, but only if a user wants to perfect it. Cultivators who practice this spear technique usually don't care if some of their mirages look fake, shaky, or fade away. They just need to confuse their opponent for a single second.
But in Brax's eyes, such limited thinking won't do as he sees it as mediocrity. If he is going to learn something, he is going to master it to perfection.
The move at perfect mastery should rival a moderate-rank or a high-rank intermediate-level technique, but since no one can bother to perfect it, the power output is limited, hence placing it in the low-rank of intermediate-level spear techniques.
With an understanding of the technique, he continues to practice the move over and over again so that he can master it to perfection.
Three days to master a single technique is a lot for Brax, but if any other cultivator saw this, they would be flabbergasted.
Not only did it only take him three days to learn it, but to perfectly master it within three days is never seen or heard of.
"Finally," Brax lets out a sigh. He didn't expect a low-ranked intermediate-level technique would take him this long. Mind you, this is only a single-action move. Not something complex, like a combo or plethora of movements.
His previous accomplishment in creating an advanced-level technique was because he already knew those martial arts. This right now is a completely new beginning for him.
"Techniques above intermediate level are going to be much harder to perfect," he concludes as he glances at his metal spear.
"This spear is a lot stronger than I expected," He says as he studies it. The spear is made of iron. Its molecular structure is no different from the iron found in his previous life. The only difference is the attraction between the molecules. It is much stronger, making it much more sturdy than any iron found in his previous life.
Putting the spear aside, he dons new clothes after cleaning himself up as the one he had on is drenched with sweat.
"I am ready," he says and leaves his adobe with his spear, and a small pouch filled with his ten low-grade spirit stones. He might need them if an emergency arises.
This will be the first time Brax truly leaves the sect since his arrival here, the previous Brax never dared to wander off too far in fear of the outside world. He was not wrong in doing so, as the outside world was indeed very dangerous for a beginner cultivator like him.
Brax sees a few disciples heading to the sect's exit just like him. They too leaving the sect to begin their quests.
He and a bunch of disciples arrive in front of a massive gate. Stationed next to it is an old man with long white hair and a beard. He has his eyes closed, but Brax knows that he is not sleeping.
Brax can sense the Qi energy entering the old man through his nose. He is clearly cultivating.
From the previous Brax's memory, he knows that this old man is the gatekeeper and the very first defense of the sect. If the sect is ever attacked, he will be the one to confront the attackers.
Like him, there are three more gatekeepers, as there are four entrances to the sect, each in one direction. This one is the south gate.
Brax tries to measure this old man but he can't see his cultivation, implying that the old man is very strong and not someone he should bother with right now.
With numerous thoughts running through his chaotic but organized mind, Brax exits the sect.
As soon as he steps out of the sect, Brax immediately notices a change in the atmosphere. The Qi in his surroundings suddenly thinned down.
'No wonder people join a sect to cultivate,' He thinks as he realizes that Qi energy inside a sect is much denser than the outside world, making it easier to cultivate.
"Let's get going," He murmurs and sets off.
