I'm Really Going to Become an Immortal

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Rough Observations

He closed the door to his rented apartment firmly.

Chen Yun leaned against the door, his expression unusually solemn.

Feeling the well-defined, yet not exaggerated, abs on his belly, Chen Yun understood that he had likely encountered something very unusual.

After a moment of silence,

Chen Yun immediately headed straight to the bathroom mirror.

Careful observation through the mirror revealed that

he had changed too much.

The nails on his hands and feet had all been replaced with smooth new nails.

The decayed teeth in his mouth had been swapped for perfect healthy ones.

The spots that had been on his face were now all gone.

It was as if he had a new layer of skin; Chen Yun seemed much more refined.

His often worriedly thinning hair from staying up late

had become much denser now.

Even the sporadic gray hairs had completely disappeared.

He had headed straight to the small clinic after waking up and had not noticed these changes on his body.

Now, observing carefully,

these changes seemed especially pronounced to him.

The current him

seemed to have been entirely rejuvenated.

After caressing his smooth face a few times,

Chen Yun didn't hesitate to begin stripping off his clothes.

Jacket, shirt, trousers, underwear,

not leaving a single piece as he stood in front of the mirror.

Looking at the familiar yet strange man in the mirror, Chen Yun was stunned.

The man in the mirror,

had skin like his face, much smoother.

Areas like the knees and elbows, where dead skin usually accumulates, were very tender to the touch.

All body hair, except for the hair on his head, had disappeared,

as if he no longer needed body hair for temperature regulation.

His entire body's muscle lines were not exaggerated, but definitely smooth enough.

His build was strong and symmetrical.

Broad shoulders, tight abs.

His arms looked strong and capable.

Healthy, sunny, and energetic—these words described him perfectly.

One could say he was completely magazine cover-worthy now.

But Chen Yun knew

he definitely hadn't been like this before.

Although he wasn't obese in the past, he was someone who neglected exercise, a homebody.

After graduating from university, he had dived deep into the unfathomable world of online literature, effectively sealing himself at home.

Someone like him wouldn't dream of having proportionate, robust muscles.

Climbing six flights of stairs without running out of breath was out of the question for him.

Looking at his perfect self in the mirror,

After some thought, Chen Yun immediately ran to the couch in the living room and searched for the tape measure and bathroom scale that he had scarcely used since buying them.

His slightly-over-one-meter-seventy-three frame had now become a precise one meter seventy-five.

This wasn't a big change and not easy to spot right away.

As for his weight, it had gone from a rather frail 66 kilograms to 80 kilograms.

This change was somewhat bigger; however, fortunately, his appearance didn't seem to reflect his weight at all.

Chen Yun calmly memorized his current weight and height, then headed towards the bedroom.

He rummaged around the bed and the nearby floor for a long time

But Chen Yun did not find the decayed teeth, dead skin, or body hair he suspected might be present.

Theoretically,

the old matter, replaced by the new teeth, skin, and body hair after his metamorphosis, should not vanish into thin air.

But after searching around the bed area for a long time,

he did not find the discarded teeth, hair, or dead skin.

This left Chen Yun somewhat vexed.

If he couldn't find the metabolic byproducts of his body, there were a few possibilities.

One possibility was that his transformation did not occur completely in bed but along the way to the clinic.

However, Chen Yun didn't believe he would be unaware of such significant changes happening to his body.

Yet, to confirm that he had not rapidly molted, changed teeth, gained muscle, and grown new hair in public,

to avoid being discovered and potentially detained for research under the pretext of protective custody,

Chen Yun still put on a hat and changed into clothes he rarely wore before, and went downstairs.

He tried to confirm whether there were any traces of his own matter along the route he had taken downstairs.

Speaking of dead skin and hair, well, let's set that aside.

With his current vision, if there were any of his disposed teeth on the ground, he should easily spot them.

But after he came back from strolling around effortlessly for two hours,

the conclusion was that he hadn't found anything.

Therefore,

either the discarded body matter had shifted greatly for various reasons,

or the transformation hadn't taken place outside his home at all.

Chen Yun had asked the nearby shopkeepers if any sanitation workers had passed by, and they told him the workers had already finished their shifts.

So, Chen Yun felt the transformation hadn't occurred outside his home.

That meant,

the reason he couldn't find the metabolic byproducts of his body

might lean towards a more fantastical possibility.

For example:

The body matter he had replaced underwent self-degradation and vanished, or, perhaps, the unhealthy parts of his body turned good all by themselves.

Without empirical evidence,

Chen Yun couldn't be sure which possibility it was.

But regardless of which one it was, it seemed to be beyond any human skill.
