Chapter 5: The Visitor

The increased speed made it look as if the video was playing and someone fast forwarded it. His body moment defied physics and by mysterious way, his body moved faster than what should be possible.

Although the impact and the result remained the same, he executed the wood breaking fist art in less time than before.

The impact of the technique on the body was also same. Tian was amazed by this as this defied the logic and physics.

" Now that i think about it, the sheer existence of the system defies physics and logic. "

He decided not to ponder too much and continued practicing wood breaking fist art. Previously he didn't practice the fist art as his body wasn't strong enough to withstand the impact but now with his body stronger than before, he could barely throw four to five punches.

After fifth punch, his muscles felt as if they were burning and his body also screamed for more nutrients.

Tian decided to stop as he looked at the daily mission.

Reward - Low-Grade Spirit Stone.]

Tian had already performed the bronze body sutra three times and he was already exhausted but the upgrade of bronze body sutra gave him a huge amount of energy after the upgrade.

It was almost used up after performing the wood breaking fist art.

Any technique that he performed that exceeded the level of a normal human's strength required a huge amount of energy from his body.

Tian decided to recover some of the energy by rest as it was evening by the time he finished with the last set of wood breaking fist art.

As tian finished eating the evening meal, he went out to the practice bronze body sutra again in the fields.

It was dark outside and most of the young monks would be studying cultivation techniques, the older ones would be studying more advanced Buddhist scriptures. In his ten years, although he did hear about cultivation of spiritual force in outside world, but there was no one that practiced it in this Buddhist temple therefore, he decided to master what he already learned instead of looking for better technique.

In his previous life he remembered a saying that said that it was better to practice a technique 1000 times than to learn 1000 techniques once.

previously he dared not to practice Bronze body sutra before going to sleep as it was like a torture to go to sleep on an empty stomach, but this time the curiosity to see the spirit stone was too much, he thought that he would be able to sleep better with an empty stomach rather than stay awake thinking that he didn't get his hands on the reward.

As for why he didn't make more butterflies, the crafting process didn't have any exp, it was just a process that he was able to repeat endlessly. He tried and found out that making the butterfly from leaves didn't count towards mission so he decided to grit his teeth and practice bronze body sutra.

As he finished the second set of the bronze body sutra, the golden screen appeared once again.

[Ding! Daily mission completed! Rewarding 1 low grade spirit stone]

Tian felt something appear in the pocket of his robe as he took out the spirite stone. It was a small crystal that looked like quartz. There was a swirling mass of energy inside and Tian could faintly see a small amount of wisps flying off the stone.

Tian then tried every way to use the stone that he was mentioned in novels. The first method he used was to keep the stone in hand and try to absorb it. But it obviously failed as he didn't have a cultivation technique. All the subsequent ideas rested on the fact that he had a cultivation technique.

Tian then remembered one novel where protagonist ground the stone in dust and mixed the dust with food to feed it to the spirit beast to raise it's grade. It was a stupid idea but since the stone wasn't going anywhere, he decided to give it a try anyway.

He broke off a small shard and ground it into a powder as he ate the powerder by mixing it with rice. It was too tough to chew so he had to swallow most of the powder but this method seemed to work somewhat. Tian felt his energy getting replenished as his stomach acids digested the rice.

Although crude, he decided to follow this method and ground the whole stone in fine powder. He then stored the powder in a small gourd and stored it in his robes.

Soon a month passed.

Tian completed daily missions and also advanced to third level of bronze body sutra with the help of the spirit stones. He was able to perform 10 to 12 sets after eating one meal laced with spirit stone. It was enough to last for a day and since he got one everyday, he was able to advance rapidly in his practice of bronze body sutra.

He also found out that it was better eat the dust as soon as the spirit stone was ground to dust as over time the effectiveness of the dust was reduced.

Nothing exciting happned in this time as usual. The village people would come to pray once in a while, they would also sometimes give alms to the monks. They would also receive blessings and budhhist teaching books from the older monks to study the teachings of the budhha at home.

There were some old monks that were proficient in copying the books and would enjoy the quite atmosphere of the temple while copying the books all day.

The temple sold some of these books to earn a small amount of money that it spent on food and other things. Tian who was only 10 years old wasn't required to contribute to the temple yet but he too would often help out the older monks and his brother chen whenever he could.

It was nighttime and tian was in the prayer hall praying to the budhha idol in the prayer room.

As he finished praying a few kids his age came into the prayer hall and one of them whispered in his ears " Tian, we heard that there will be royals coming in tomorrow, the second prince of the lingyun kingdom... " He said as he looked at Tian excited.

" it's inappropriate to whisper and gossip in the prayer hall... Let's go outside and then talk "

All the kids left the temple as they gathred around under the peach tree.

Tian who was oldest asked the leading one " So from whom did you hear it? "

The one that seemed to be a small leader among the kids was named wang bao spoke up " It was brother Meng, he was speaking to some elder that the second prince was coming to pay respect to the budhha."

Tian nodded as he did notice the other older monks preparing for an event of some kind.

There was cleaning going on and other monks were replacing old decorations with new ones. There were also some monks who were making designs with colours on the ground and some preparing ingredients for prayers.

" Tian, everyone is doing something, what should we do? " Wang bao said as he stood up " I think we should show the prince our Bidhhist might! Let's practice a legendary move and break some stones with our fists! " He said as he raised his fist in excitement.

Tian then grabbded his fist as he pushed the hand down " the prince would have internal cultivation techniques, do you think he would be interested in your flashy moves? "

Another kid said " we can recite from the scriptures "

" Prince is here to pray, reading from scriptures in front of outsiders is same as teaching them. You want to be prince's teacher? "

Tian who was more knowledgeable was somewhat of a center of this small ground. Although an introvert, he would help the group make important decisions as to help the kids not get themselves in trouble.

" If you want to become a qualified monk, no matter who comes, you should not change your schedule. You should be as steady as a rock in your persute of the dao. "

He said as one of the older monk heard this and laughed " Brat, Daoiest persue dao, we monks persue spiritual perfection and enlightenment... "

Tian rubbed his head as he smiled " Yes yes, as the old man Lian said, Spritual perfection."

The next day the army arrived first. There were all kids of soldiers. Some were wearing red armors, some were in black robes and Tian even saw some people stationes on the roofs of the buildings of the temple.

There was a huge man by the name of the Baoshen suai Shi which meant Guardian general Shi. The man upon entering, stopped in front of the courtyard as he looked around. There were raws of soldiers behind him and one of the soldier was carrying the flag of title of the general. There was also a flag with a large letter "Yun" Written upon it.

One of the senior monk went ahead and smiled at the general as he welcomed him " General Shi, I would request you to withdraw your soldiers, this is a place of worship. If you want, you can station them around the temple."

The general scoffed as he looked at the senior monk " Monk lee, it's not that i am disrespecting your budhhist temple, this time, I am responsible for the protection of his highness the second prince. "

As he finishes saying that, a female general walked in as she looked at the monk and spoke in a gentle tone " General shi, do you think the prince requires protection from these monks? A single punch from his highness can obliterate this temple, you do not need to worry "

As she said that, a huge amount of pressure descended from the sky onto the female general. There was so much pressure that the female general had to kneel.

General shi tried to unsheath his sword but he was frozen in place. Sweat rolled down his cheek but he couldn't move a muscle under the intense pressure.
