I, reincarnate as the leader of the villainous knight order

Chapter 100 - Chapter 100: Dwarven Architecture

Chapter 100: Dwarven Architecture

“Building with magic… I’ve never heard of that before. Are you saying that all the houses and workshops in the dwarf settlement were built with magic?”

If that’s the case, the dwarves must have an extraordinary amount of magical power. Even royal court wizards would run out of mana after creating a few earth walls. In this world, humans can’t use flashy offensive magic like in games. They can only cast spells with the power you’d learn at a low level.

In fact, I can only do things like enhance my body or imbue my sword with magical power to increase its attack strength. But they’re talking about constructing a building the size of a dormitory using earth magic. That’s incredibly impressive.

I had always thought dwarves were all craftsmen who built everything by hand, so this surprised me. I definitely want to go see the construction in person; Jest might be delighted to see it too.

“The houses in our settlement are built with our earth magic. Of course, we still have to make windows, doors, and furniture separately,” the dwarf explained.

“That’s amazing…! That would significantly shorten the construction schedule! I’ll be there on the day to assist!”

It seems Jules is the type who loves working in construction. His eyes sparkled differently when talking about buildings, and I had a feeling he’d do a great job.

“Alright, we want to build the workshop first so we can start making the furniture and interior right away. Is that okay?” asked the dwarf.

“Understood. Based on the layout you showed me, we’ll need at least these beds, dressers, tables, and chairs. The window sizes will be determined once the structure is up, but here’s a list of the required windows and doors.”

The document handed to me listed the names and quantities of the necessary items precisely. I couldn’t believe this was the same person who acted so recklessly yesterday.

“Great! Let’s get started! Come on, Coom, Yugo, let’s go build the workshop!”

“Whoa!”

Basil called out to the dwarves with such a loud voice that it shook the entire mansion. Jules instinctively covered his ears, and I was also startled and almost cried out.

After a while, accompanied by heavy footsteps, two of the four dwarves Basil had brought with him appeared. These two must be Coom and Yugo, I think I had seen them in the settlement.

“Chief, we’re building the workshop, right? We need to get started quickly, or our skills will get rusty. We’re ready anytime.”

“Can each of us have our own workshop? If we’re building five workshops, then Coom and I should be enough…”

From their conversation, it seemed that building with earth magic was a common skill among dwarves. Shortly after, Châteaubriand appeared.

“Basil-sama, if you need anything, please ring this bell, and we will attend to you. It would be helpful if you could refrain from raising your voice too much.”

Châteaubriand pointed to a bell placed on a side table. Though his expression was reserved, it was clear he was bewildered. He probably never had someone in the mansion who could shout loud enough to be heard from distant rooms.

“Haha! Sorry, sorry, it’s just a habit! In our small settlement, this voice usually reaches everyone if they’re not working.”

The dwarves’ loud voices must have been an entirely new experience for the noble’s servants. From Châteaubriand’s reaction, it seemed someone might have been startled and dropped something.

It looked like Basil and his team were fully prepared. I got into the carriage that Jules had arrived in, while the three dwarves took another carriage to the workshop. Knowing Eleanor would look lonely if she saw me with the carriage horses, I waited by the front door.

I had intended to ride Eleanor alone, but Jules convinced me we’d be returning to this mansion again. If I didn’t take the carriage, the dwarves would be split between two carriages or all four would have to squeeze into one.

Riding in a carriage with three stout, bearded dwarves would be challenging both physically and mentally, even for me. When we arrived at the royal craftsmen’s workshop, the three dwarves hopped out of the carriage and started moving around the construction site with surprising agility.

“If it’s okay to build according to yesterday’s design, then starting simultaneously from here and over there seems best. We can build here, right?”

Coom confirmed with Jules.

“Yes, you have permission to use the land however you like on this side.”

“Alright! Yugo, let’s get to work. Time to show what dwarves can do!”

“Yeah!”

The two exchanged glances and grinned before splitting up to opposite ends of the construction site. They mumbled in a language I didn’t recognize and then chanted a spell together.

“”『Creation』””

Simultaneously, the ground seemed to rise. Accompanied by a tremor of about magnitude 2, a two-story stone building began to form. The craftsmen, who had rushed out in a panic, stood frozen in awe with their mouths agape.
