Chapter 12: Chapter-12
"What are you doing"
"Eat quickly, your popsicle is gonna melt"
Looking back at Rex who seemed to be gazing at her, Laura said. When he finished eating, his hand was already soaked a bit. Laura took his hand and took out a handkerchief and started cleaning the dripping places.
He let her clean it as he looked to admire the scenery but his attention went back to Laura as he felt a soft slimy touch on his hands. Rex saw Laura who was licking his hand with her soft tongue.
"Laura-nee, what are you doing"
"We are out in public"
To his worried appearance, Laura had a teasing smile on her face.
"Are you shy?"
Red had black lines on his face to Laura who still wanted to continue. He just let her do as she pleased just hiding it with his body so that it wouldn't be seen to people. It was definitely because he wanted to deny Laura's tease.
As they walked back home, leaving the village, Laura and Rex were stopped by a fellow who also wore a hanfu, it was Clarissa.
"I was waiting for you guys"
"We need to have a talk, Laura"
"Rex, how about you go back first"
"I will come back after talking with Clarissa"
Not knowing what they were going to say, looking at the two beauties who were looking at him, he left decisively.
"What did you want to talk about?"
Laura had an innocent expression on her face.
"Laura, you trickster"
"You tricked me!"
Clarissa said continuously to which Laura was giggling the entire time.
"How did I trick you?"
"You exchanged the dates and reversed the order"
"If it was in order, I would have both the first and last days of the festival with Rex"
Laura hid her smile with her fan which she took out from her storage ring and said,
"How is my outfit?"
"Yes, it looks good, is it the one which we got from the mall a week before"
"Wait a minute, why are you diverting the conversation elsewhere?"
Clarissa answered but realized suddenly that she was being tricked again. Since young even though they were rivals, they were quite close. As for the content of their rivalry, of course it was with Rex but it was revealed since then that Laura had an edge in tricking Clarissa specifically as she was a bit of an airhead when dealing with her close ones.
"Fine, fine I tricked you I'm sorry but if it was going normally you would have gotten two days and I would only get one during the festival"
"How about this, I take tomorrow and you take the last day"
Laura asked to which Clarissa stood there, lost in thought. It was indeed possible but she would be the one suffering since it was during the days of the festival unlike the other days and most of the time would be handed to Laura but she couldn't reject as she already took two days before the festival and the first and last days of the festivals were the better days than the middle. Biting her nails, she sighed and was ready to answer but was taken back by what Laura continued to say.
"It is not impossible to share Rex tomorrow"
She had a smile on her face as she said it. Clarissa hung her mouth surprised by the words that came out of her best friend.
"Are you really Laura?"
"Are you sick?"
Clarissa got close to her and started measuring her temperature to which Laura slapped her hand with her fan.
"What do you mean am I me?"
Laura questioned her with a straight face.
"The real Laura would never really share anything with me, concerning her precious Rex"
To Clarissa's words, Laura had black lines on her face and an urge to hit Clarissa's head.
"I guess it was too kind of me to offer something to my old friend"
"It's fine treat it like it's nothing, I will just take the last day also"
She started to walk away but was stopped by Clarissa,
"Stop, stop Laura"
"I'm sorry"
She said sorry continuously to which Laura couldn't help but feel bad a little.
'Did I push her too much?'
Laura thought looking at the silly appearance of Clarissa.
"Okay, okay"
"I accept your apology"
"Now which one do you want to choose"
"The sharing one"
Clarissa said with a small tone,
"Then, we will share him tomorrow and you can take him on the last day"
Rex back in his room after arriving back, looked outside from the balcony of his room. He looked at the reflection of the moon in the lake as he felt the breeze. He felt that his decision to come back was indeed good. Feeling the warm atmosphere here made his heart warm and calm. He closed his eyes and breathed out the fresh air.
"It would be better if mom could also live here"
Rex thought but maybe it wouldn't be impossible in the future, since it was not set in stone. Going back to the embrace of the ac, he opened the door to his room and went back.
__ __ __
The next evening, Rex stood before the mirror, adjusting his light blue hanfu with silver clouds and waves. The outfit gave him a clean yet cold look. Despite being ready, he stayed in his room as instructed, waiting for Laura to tell him who he had to go with. She told him that there would be a change in the schedule but didn't tell him whom he was going with.
He waited till there was a knock on the door. He opened his door to see two beautiful girls.
"Laura-nee, Clarissa"
"So, who's going with me today?"
"Tada"
"We both will be accompanying you today"
They both said in unison which left Rex who blinked in confusion.
"So both of you are going with me today"
__ __ __
Going into the village with each of arms being held in the hands of Laura and Clarissa, he attracted the attention of many. Both of them were quite beautiful and going into the village with one already took the attraction of many now going with both and since it was a festival excluding the people from the village, there were a lot of people from outside as well.
Walking through the bustling village, Rex found himself in a peculiar yet enviable situation. With Laura holding one arm and Clarissa the other, they garnered countless stares. Afterall coming with one beautiful was one thing, two was another case.
Usually, Clarissa wouldn't be so bold to do this kind of act but being with Laura who was both her rival and friend started it, why wouldn't she be brave enough to do it.
They visited various stalls, starting with the food vendors. Laura insisted on trying the grilled skewers while Clarissa dragged them toward the candy-making booth, thinking of making Laura suffer with the rose candy.
At the archery game, Laura started first and her best score was 8 out of 10 with overall being 28 in five shots which was quite good. Rex clapped his hands and said,
"Not bad"
Laura came back with a smug yet proud expression.
"I can do it too"
Clarissa boasted about her skills only to miss every shot,
"You're supposed to hit the target, not scare the birds away,"
Laura giggled and said, earning a pout from Clarissa. Rex tried his hand at the game, surprising them both by hitting the bullseye for every shot
"Not fair, Rex"
"Did you teach Laura but not me?"
