Chapter 23.1
Stage 1-23. All Of It, Etched In My Memory
“So, with that said, have you heard anything, Ou-kun?”
“…Since when did you and I get so chummy?”
After school, we were caught by Student Council President Milfonty who ambushed us at the school gate and brought us to the student council room.
I could’ve ignored it and gone home, but she mentioned ‘Karen,’ so I couldn’t just walk away.
Recently, I’ve been meddling with her quite a bit.
Since it was a topic about her, I came along with Mashiro and Alice, but…
“Not happy? Then how about ‘Uga Uga?'”
“That just sounds even lamer. What the heck is ‘Uga Uga’, anyway?”
“Doesn’t it have a cute ring to it? Uga Uga.”
“Not even slightly.”
“This is troubling… Hmmm, then how about ‘Darling’?”
“Student Council President Milfonty? You’re going to make me angry.”
It was Mashiro who raised her voice in protest.
Lately, it feels like she’s been getting into angry mode whenever something triggers her.
The problem is, I don’t know where the mines are buried… but I’m pretty sensitive about these things, so I should be fine.
In my past life, I was always reading people’s faces, pretending to be a good guy.
I’m confident I could tap dance and not step on any.
That aside, though, it’s surprising how quickly she’s grown, from being timid to actually snapping back at others. It makes me happy to see her grow.
“Ufufu. You’re quite loved, Vellet-kun.”
“Yeah, it’s mutual love.”
At first, I was attracted to Mashiro’s chest, then I got to know her, and now I like her even more.
She’s got a changing expression that never gets boring, big breasts, overflowing ambition, and a uniform that’s nearly bursting at the seams with her chest. I love it.
“S-Stop it! You’re such a perv, Ouga-kun! You’re staring too much!”
“Heroes do like their pleasures… So, what about mine? You’re free to stare at the Student Council President’s chest, which everyone admires.”
“Staring at something so flat would just make me feel poor in spirit.”
“……”
“Eep!?”
Snap—the handle of Milfonty’s teacup cracked, spilling its contents onto the table.
Mashiro clung to my arm, overwhelmed by the dark aura leaking from the student council president.
Ah, healing, healing.
The difference in feminine charm is pretty obvious, huh?
Seriously, though, this size… There should be property taxes on something like this…
“Now then, the atmosphere has warmed up, so let’s get back to the main topic, shall we?”
It’s freezing in here, though?
Setting aside the sarcasm, the topic she raised was what she asked us about at the start.
“Revetzenka-san skipped today’s student assembly without permission. None of you know anything about that?”
“First I’m hearing of it from you. But she seemed fine this morning.”
“If that’s the case, something must have happened after that.”
“Something happened? Why do you think that?”
“She’s a serious and responsible person. I don’t believe she would abandon her duties without a good reason.”
The president’s assessment is accurate.
Karen hates causing trouble for others.
To the point where if it’s something she can endure, she’ll take on even unpleasant tasks.
“If it were just that, you wouldn’t have dragged us here, though.”
“…Hehe, you saw right through me. I was worried, so I checked her dorm room, but there was no answer… Where could she be?”
“Did you properly check inside?”
“Yes, of course. But there was no one there.”
“……”
“Recently, you’ve been getting along well with her, so I thought you might have some clue… Vellet-kun?”
“…I see. Well, we probably just missed each other. She wouldn’t leave the academy, considering her position.”
“I agree. But if you do find her, could you let me know?”
“Got it. I don’t mind helping out that much.”
If I can gain some favor with something this easy, I might as well spend a little time.
After all, I’ve already covered the material being taught, and I don’t need any more review. My afternoons are free anyway.
That should be the end of this matter.
I stood up and started heading out of the student council room.
“Are you aware that she’s being tormented by Prince Arnia?”
…That new piece of information made me stop.
That womanizing prince… I see.
So, Karen still had feelings for him deep down, huh?
This whole thing must’ve been something she did out of desperation, feeling sad that he didn’t notice her.
My guess, as the guy being used as a foil, was spot on.
“…Yeah, of course.”
“! I knew you would realize it. After hearing about your recent exploits, I thought so. Despite not interacting much with your classmates, you’ve suddenly gotten closer to her… Am I wrong?”
“…Who knows.”
Has she figured it out that far…!?
I glance over at Alice, and she subtly signals with a small ‘X’ that Milfonty can’t see.
So, we’re not being monitored.
She’s just using the information she has to make deductions and is close to the truth.
As expected of the head of the prestigious Magic Academy.
She’s more capable than I imagined. I mentally upgraded her threat level.
“Most people would turn a blind eye to his actions. But personally, I can’t overlook them.”
As a fellow woman, she probably can’t forgive the prince’s behavior.
Student Council President Milfonty doesn’t seem like someone who needs to curry favor, nor does she appear to be someone who judges men by their looks.
That’s why she can criticize him fairly like this.
She’s telling me all this because she’s sure I share the same thoughts.
“That brings me to a proposal for you.”
“A proposal?”
“Yes. Whether you accept or not, won’t you at least hear me out?”
She said earlier that she knew about my reputation.
…Indeed, this case might need someone like me, a villain, to handle it.
“…I’ll judge whether it benefits me or not.”
Seeing me sit back down, she smiled with satisfaction.
“You won’t have to worry about that.”
“In this academy, Milfonty—we hold the highest authority.”
