Chapter 13: So You’re Diablo, Huh?
“Aierjisi, come out! I know you’re in there. Let’s settle this once and for all!”
Diablo relentlessly attacked the Barrier surrounding the Royal Palace. As long as he kept smashing it, it would eventually break. Aierjisi had no choice but to come out and face him; running away was not an option.
“Is that guy really Diablo? He’s built like a gorilla! Those muscles are totally over the top!”
Through the watery mirror, Aierjisi could see Diablo smashing the Barrier. It was her first time seeing someone with such ridiculous muscles.
“Yes, that’s why I said he’s strong. Miss Aierjisi, are you sure you want to go out and fight him? Our Barrier should hold for a little longer.”
Gaia looked at Aierjisi, wondering if this Little Princess would still choose to fight once she saw the real opponent.
“Of course I want to fight! How much longer can the Barrier hold?”
“At the rate he’s attacking, it should last about three more minutes.”
Ouxs calculated when the Barrier would likely be broken.
“Three minutes? Alright, I’ll wait until after the Barrier breaks to fight. The longer I can wear him down, the better my chances will be. And one more thing, Yake, you’re coming with me! If we fight together, our odds will be way better.”
“Wait, I have to go too? Fight that muscle monster who looks like a bull?”
Yake was utterly bewildered when he heard Aierjisi’s request for him to join her in battle.
“Yes! If I go up against him alone, I’ll be struggling. I need you to help share the burden. I’m counting on you.”
Aierjisi patted Yake on the back.
“Fine, but I think I might just hold you back. Compared to him, I’m pretty weak. I probably wouldn’t even be able to take one of his punches!”
Before the battle had even begun, Yake was doubting whether he could withstand the attacks. Just looking at Diablo’s muscles told him that this guy was a top-tier powerhouse.
“Don’t doubt your own strength! Remember, you’re my servant and I’ve trained you myself. We haven’t even fought yet; how can you say these gloomy things? Whether or not we can win, we’ll have to find out by fighting!”
Aierjisi clenched her fists and waved them in encouragement, boosting both Yake’s and her own spirits.
“Since you put it that way, let’s just go see if we can hold on!”
Encouraged by Aierjisi, Yake realized he was being overly negative. He would only find out if he could endure after the fight.
“Nonono, Yake! Our goal isn’t just to last; we want to defeat him!”
“What? Defeat that muscle-bound gorilla?”
Yake was left tongue-tied by Aierjisi’s declaration right after he had finally found his motivation.
“Exactly! Our goal in this fight is not just to stall him but to actually win! We have to take him down.”
“But isn’t that guy an Ultimate Life Form? Can we really defeat him with our current strength?”
Yake vividly remembered his powerlessness against the last Ultimate Life Form. Though Diablo fought differently than Gilbaris, he was still an Ultimate Life Form—not someone you could easily beat.
“Don’t worry about that! I have a plan for taking him down.”
Aierjisi glanced at the pendant hanging around her neck, which contained immense power. According to Gabriel, it housed the Power of the Gods. Though she could only use it for a brief moment, in that instant, her strength would be godlike.
As long as she could unleash the divine power in that moment, an Ultimate Life Form was no match for her!
“Are you sure? Don’t choke when it’s time to deliver! After all, this is a matter of whether we survive.”
Even though Yake knew Aierjisi had never let them down before, he couldn’t help doubting the potential for failure when the stakes were life or death.
“Relax! As your master, I’ve never had a complete failure! Leave this to me. By the way, how much time has passed? Is the Barrier about to break?”
Aierjisi realized a significant amount of time had passed during their chit-chat. The Barrier must be nearing its limit.
“Two minutes and forty seconds have passed. In twenty seconds, that guy will break through.”
Ouxs glared at Aierjisi and Yake. Could they not talk about this while fighting? Now they had to hurry up and get out; repairing a broken Barrier was a hassle.
“Okay, now that time’s up, we can’t just sit here. Yake, let’s go face that muscle-bound monster!”
“Oh.”
Using the teleportation device in the palace, Aierjisi and Yake appeared outside the Barrier. Diablo was still there mindlessly attacking it.
“Hey! You there! You’re the one who wanted to duel with me, right?”
Aierjisi shouted over to Diablo.
“Huh? Oh, you actually came out! Great, that saves me some trouble. Aierjisi, I’ll give you two choices: either surrender and come back with me, or resist and get beaten down before I take you back. What’s your choice?”
Seeing Aierjisi standing there, Diablo stopped attacking the Barrier and faced them.
“Pick your nose! I’m not choosing either! I plan to take you down right here and scatter your ashes! Yake, let’s show this guy what we’re made of!”
Aierjisi pointed at Diablo, declaring the beginning of their fight.
