I Became a Goblin Ancestor

Chapter 28 - The Gold Flow Team's Ancestor, Ravina(4)

Goblins are yokai more adept at handling the virtual (虛) and the real (實) than any other race.

Goblins can create something from nothing and materialize the illusions in their minds into reality, so they could proudly claim to be the best in both depth and level.

However, grasping others’ vulnerabilities was a completely different aspect from handling one’s own virtual and real, so I couldn’t help but be flustered when the battle first began.

“What kind of crazy…”

Whether I shot fire or water, no matter what attack I made, it passed through Ravina’s body without resistance.

And as my attacks failed, beams and explosive shells came flying back in return.

Each one had enough power to wound me, so I barely blocked them while spitting out curses.

“Damn it all… What principle is she using to dodge like that?”

Well, of course it had to be that way.

My attacks were futilely dissipating as if I was facing a beam projector, but not being able to properly understand the reason was frustratingly maddening.

Roughly speaking, it seemed she was using a different type of virtual-real ability than mine, but I had no way of knowing exactly what principle it was.

Therefore, I tried to figure out what that ability Ravina was using was by throwing attacks that obscured vision as much as possible, and it was about 3 minutes after the battle started when I accurately grasped her ability.

Thanks to Hwa-gon, who was observing Ravina along with me, I was able to see through her ability.

『It seems she has put her true form, her physical body, into a dream. Although it’s different from the energy used by the yokai of our world, I can sense the fragrance of dreams from her.』

“Dreams? So that was it. I… ugh! Didn’t properly notice that bitch’s ability.”

Boom—!!!

As I leapt up, a sphere of light fell where I had just been standing, causing a tremendous explosion.

And as I mulled over what Hwa-gon had said, I muttered to myself amidst the chaotic battle.

If it was dreams, it was a popular superpower and ability used by yokai who deal with the phantasmal.

However, I, being a goblin, had never used such an ability at all, so I hadn’t been able to notice it.

But fortunately, thanks to Hwa-gon, I had noticed the identity of the ability Ravina was showing.

I grinned, thinking I had found a breakthrough, but soon I could only mutter with wide eyes:

“…But if it’s dreams, how should I attack?”

It was good to know that the medium of virtual and real that Ravina was handling was dreams.

However, as I said before, dreams were a field I had never touched even once.

Therefore, even though I knew the identity of the ability, it was all the same that I had no proper way to attack.

Keeeeng—!!

“Damn it…!”

Ravina’s attacks rained down on me as I sank into contemplation, as if I would die if I didn’t come up with an answer right away.

I gritted my teeth and jumped around here and there, avoiding Ravina’s attacks, and blocked those I couldn’t avoid by raising rock walls.

However, as long as I still couldn’t attack, Ravina still had the initiative in the fight.

I broke out in a cold sweat at my gradually depleting stamina amidst the intermittent bombardment.

But just as I was only avoiding and blocking like that for a while.

As if knowing a breakthrough since he had seen through Ravina’s ability, Hwa-gon, who had been keeping his mouth shut again, said to me:

『…There is one method, but.』

“What? Really?! Then you should have said so earlier!”

『It’s just that… this method is one that you, Shin-yeon, would be very reluctant to use…』

What kind of method could it be for Hwa-gon to hesitate and speak like that?

But whatever the method, there was nothing more important than landing a hit on that Ravina right now, so I shouted at Hwa-gon:

“I don’t care what it is, just say it quickly! Even if it’s a condition like enduring an arrogant human’s lies, it’s fine!”

『Hmm… if that’s the case…』

Hwa-gon swallowed his saliva at my considerable resolve and finally agreed to speak.

And the next moment, the words Hwa-gon spat out were far harsher than the resolve I had made up my mind for.

『…You need to wear the stone mask.』

“…What?”

At that one line, so direct yet difficult to understand, I forgot for a moment that I was in battle and asked back like that.

Thankfully, my mind returned as a beam that flew by right after grazed my ear.

At my reaction, Hwa-gon spoke to me as if he had expected it:

『That’s why I said, didn’t I? That it’s a method you would be reluctant to use.』

“Is there really no other way besides that? No, how can I break that bitch’s illusion by wearing the stone mask in the first place?”

『It’s not you who will break it, but I. If you become a complete goblin and fully draw out my power as a goblin club, when I touch her body, I can grab and pull her true form in the dream into reality.』

“B-but I’m not not a goblin just because I’m not wearing the mask, right? Can’t it be done in this state?”

『Of course, not wearing the mask doesn’t make you not a goblin. In fact, you can fully use the power to handle the four elements and the power of virtual and real even without wearing the mask. But how could I, a goblin club, be the same as such basic abilities!』

Hwa-gon shouted as if blowing out confident nose breaths.

In other words, to simplify Hwa-gon’s words, I needed to wear the stone mask to fully use Hwa-gon and break Ravina’s ability.

I could use the four elements and imagination materialization just fine without the mask, so why was Hwa-gon the only one not included in that category?

In a case where I grew resentful of the strangely special Hwa-gon, I swallowed a groan-mixed sigh, but I didn’t have much time given to me in the two choices.

Swoosh—

When I turned my head back, I could see Yeon-ah blocking the door, looking at me with eyes of trust.

Swoosh–

When I turned my head back to the front, there was Ravina looking down at me with her back to the sky beyond the blown-away ceiling.

Swoosh-

Lastly, when I lowered my head, I could see the stone mask hanging on my belt inside my tattered and fluttering jacket.

The stone mask that made me recall the faces of those clansmen who had driven me to hell.

The memory of a small, weak, and puny mutant goblin who couldn’t even properly rebel once stabbed my head, making it throb.

However, in the end, there was only one path I could choose, having overcome and shaken off the terrible nightmare to walk all the way to the position of great chief.

“…I have no choice.”

Accepting the feeling of being dirtied, I fingered the mask at my waist.

Thinking that I would have to pour all this resentment onto that flying pest in front of me.

Bang bang bang—!!!

-Open the door right now! Even if it’s the General Management Team, how dare you harm our ancestor like this!
-Team Leader Lee Yeon-ah! Open the door immediately!
-Team Leader Tae-hyun! It won’t break through! The other walls are the same!

“Kuh…!”

Violent vibrations pounded on the door.

The sound of various magics colliding with the door and walls.

Each time, cracks formed in Yeon-ah’s high-intensity rock wall blocking the door, but the moment parts of the rock wall crumbled, new rock walls immediately filled those spots.

The gap between Yeon-ah and the Gold Flow Team’s hunters, and the near-infinite regenerative power created by it.

So even though dozens of Gold Flow Team hunters were attacking, they could never enter the room.

If they were to go out the window and fly in from outside, it might be different, but among the Gold Flow Team members, those with succubus wings were truly a tiny minority.

Moreover, there was an intense turbulence raised by Yeon-ah around the tower, so even that would be difficult.

And thanks to that, the battle between Shin-yeon and Ravina had continued until now.

Crack—!!!

Yeon-ah watched the one-sided battle flowing with shining eyes, accompanied by a sound like hitting a baseball.

“As expected of ancestor…!”

Rolling around ungracefully as if being beaten by Ravina in the early part of the battle was all a setup for this!

With such an unsightly appearance, she had induced Ravina to let her guard down and made her who had been flying in the sky come down to the ground, and at that moment, she immediately went on the counterattack.

Although Ravina’s true form as a succubus would exist in a dream, befitting the universally acknowledged supreme and strongest race, goblins, Shin-yeon was beating Ravina like a dog on a hot day while holding the goblin club that had transformed into its true form.

“And that mask she doesn’t usually wear…!”

Another part Yeon-ah was admiring was the stone mask that Shin-yeon didn’t usually wear, for reasons she didn’t dare know.

That stone mask, also called the symbol of the Goblin Clan.

Perhaps wanting to make her kneel as the great chief of the Goblin Clan since the opponent was the Queen of Succubi, Shin-yeon was fighting in the complete form of a goblin, unlike usual.

From Yeon-ah’s perspective, who respected and followed Shin-yeon more than anyone else, there was no need to explain how moving and dazzling it looked.

“As expected of our ancestor…”

Yeon-ah was so overwhelmed with emotion that tears welled up involuntarily.

And just as Yeon-ah’s tears of emotion began to fall drop by drop, the battle between Shin-yeon and Ravina finally came to an end.

“Hnngh!!”

Crash—!!!!!

Shin-yeon, who had sent Ravina’s head flying into the sky by striking her horns, once again struck with full force to smash her into the ground.

Ravina, smashed into the ground like that, had already fainted long ago, unable to even scream as she limply collapsed her body.

“Phew… I should end it at this level for now, lest I kill her if I hit her more.”

After that, Shin-yeon grabbed Ravina’s leg and pulled her up from the ground as if pulling up radishes.

Then, unlike before, Shin-yeon slowly waved the goblin club and lightly tapped Ravina’s head.

“Be bound tightly, snap!”

At that moment, Shin-yeon and Ravina’s bodies shone with a flash.

And as Shin-yeon threw Ravina to the side and turned to look at her, Yeon-ah could realize.

The fact that their fight had now come to an end.

And that too, her one and only ancestor.

With Shin-yeon’s perfect victory.
