Chapter 13: Silent Curse Debut!
Devero almost wanted to sit down and start meditating right away after reading the description of the new technique. After all, this was a method that could enhance his magical strength!
His earlier duel with Snape had made one thing painfully clear: as an underage wizard, his magical strength and reserves were significantly inferior to those of adult wizards. This left him feeling vulnerable.
At Hogwarts—the safest school in Britain—he would still have to fight basilisks and even dragons from time to time. If he ran out of magic power halfway through a fight, he would be done for!
But now, this ancient meditation method seemed to be the perfect solution to his problem.
Excitedly, Devero headed into the train, intending to find a quiet place to test out this newly acquired Wisdom of the Ancients and see how effective it was.
However, by now, the train was already bustling with people. Many compartments were full, and the noise level was far from conducive to meditation.
Devero ran through several train cars, but it was the same everywhere. Reluctantly, he decided to postpone his practice—after all, there was no need to rush.
Instead, he shifted his focus to finding a less crowded compartment where he could settle in for the long journey.
As luck would have it, he stumbled upon two red-haired boys struggling to help another boy lift a heavy trunk.
Yes, it was Harry Potter! And helping him were none other than the Weasley twins.
Noticing that all three of them were struggling, Devero stepped forward.
"Hey! Hold on a second. Let me make that easier for you."
With that, Devero pulled out his wand and lightly tapped it on Harry's trunk.
Immediately, the trunk, which had been unbearably heavy just moments before, became several times lighter. Even the smallest among them—Harry—could now lift it with ease.
Working together, they quickly placed the trunk onto the luggage rack.
"Wow! Was that a Levitation Charm?"
"That's amazing! Are you a first-year too? How are you so skilled with spells already?"
The Weasley twins looked at Devero with wide, astonished eyes.
Other students nearby who had witnessed the scene also wore expressions of shock.
While the Levitation Charm was considered a relatively basic spell, many first-years struggled to perform it properly—even by the end of their first year.
Wait... a spell?
The twins exchanged a glance, their eyes widening in realization.
"Did you just use a Nonverbal Spell?!"
Devero smiled modestly.
"Yes, but it's just a simple spell."
After a brief moment of speechlessness and exaggerated gestures of astonishment, the twins immediately crowded closer to him.
"Wow, Merlin's beard! If we could learn that, think of all the things we could do!"
"Exactly! By the way… er… we haven't introduced ourselves. I'm Fred, and this is George. Would you be willing to teach us?"
Fred leaned in closer, speaking in a conspiratorial whisper.
"We won't ask for free lessons. Once we're at school, we can show you loads of the castle's secrets. We didn't get a chance to fully explore the towers last year, but we know the Great Hall like the back of our hands!"
"Yeah, no one knows the school better than us—guaranteed!"
The twins even exchanged a fist bump as they spoke.
Devero's eyes twinkled mischievously as he replied with a smile.
"Alright, but you'll have to show me some of those secrets first before I teach you."
For Devero, teaching the twins how to cast a Nonverbal Spell was no big deal—it was practically second nature to him. And if these two troublemakers could help him learn about Hogwarts or even lead him to treasures like the Marauder's Map, why not?
"Woohoo!"
The twins cheered, pumping their fists in excitement before huddling together to whisper, likely already planning how to use Nonverbal Spells for their pranks.
Devero turned his attention to Harry, who looked a little lost and unsure of what to do.
Clearly, all the talk about spells, Nonverbal Magic, and Hogwarts secrets had left Harry feeling like an outsider. Unable to join the conversation, he seemed slightly uncomfortable.
Devero stepped over and placed an arm around Harry's shoulder.
"Come on, Harry, let's go find a seat."
Harry, who had been standing there awkwardly, quickly nodded in agreement. After all, the train was about to depart, and it was time to find a place to sit.
As they turned to head back to the compartment where Harry had originally planned to sit, the twins suddenly stopped whispering.
"Harry? Wait... are you that Harry?"
Hearing Devero call him by name, the twins froze in place, their voices filled with curiosity.
Harry, having experienced moments like this many times before, naturally brushed the hair off his forehead, revealing the lightning-shaped scar on his forehead.
The twins stared at the scar, their mouths agape.
Even Devero was seeing Harry's scar in person for the first time. Compared to what he had seen in the movies in his past life, the scar looked much more jagged and menacing.
Devero even felt an urge to reach out and touch it, but out of consideration for Harry's feelings, he restrained himself.
Devero had always wondered why the Killing Curse would leave a lightning-shaped scar. The original books didn't seem to delve into this much.
After getting a good look at the scar, the twins let out a loud exclamation before bolting out of the compartment, likely eager to share the news with their family.
Devero watched them leave before sitting down with Harry in their compartment.
He had already added two purple traits from each twin into his Trait Queue, intending to load them later at Hogwarts.
The twins' traits were:
[Explorer (Purple)]
[Prank Inventor (Purple)]
And he had to admit, both traits were impressive.
Typically, possessing a purple trait meant someone was exceptionally skilled in that area. A blue trait indicated above-average potential, while a gold trait signified unparalleled mastery—a natural-born genius.
Red traits, on the other hand, were almost always associated with individuals of great destiny, as they signified a profound connection to the rules or essence of a particular domain.
For instance, Devero thought the [Potion Genius] trait was practically overpowered.
Even though his knowledge base was still relatively shallow, he felt that, in terms of potion-making skill alone, he might already surpass Snape in some aspects.
Of course, this was just a gut feeling—Devero hadn't actually tested it out yet, nor did he dare to.
Regardless, it was clear that the Weasley twins were exceptionally talented individuals. No wonder they were able to become leaders in the prank industry at such a young age.
"Devero, you already know so many spells!" Harry said, sitting across from Devero with a somewhat dejected expression.
"I grew up in a Muggle family and barely know any magic. If there's some sort of test when we start school, I'll be doomed."
Hearing Harry's words, Devero couldn't help but smile. Just as he was about to say something encouraging, there was a knock at the compartment door.
Standing in the doorway was a freckled, red-haired boy.
"Excuse me, can I sit here? My name's Ron Weasley."
