Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Bickering
The sun kissed her skin as Aria stood at the entrance to the field, her gaze sweeping over the lively crowd on the bleachers. Cheers and shouts filled the air, blending with the occasional cool breeze that softened the warmth of the day. The sun was hot, but not harsh—a perfect balance for a tournament day.
The bleachers were filled to the brim, packed with students, parents, and kids, their collective energy buzzing like static electricity. Across the field, the opponents from Bridgeton College were present, making funny faces at Lockwood College. Of course, the Lockwoods were not going to stay still as the Bridgeton threw awful insults their way. They too also gave them a counteractive reply, causing the atmosphere to be insanely intense.
Parents with their younger children occasionally chimed in, especially when the comments became heated."
The younger ones would giggle or laugh as they looked on, amused with what was unfolding before them. The game was about to start, but the people involved didn't seem to be getting ready any minute.
The vendors couldn't be counted off as they contributed to the lively chaos on the field, their calls for ice cream and cold drinks slicing through the noise. With the heat bearing down, their business was thriving—they'd likely be heading home with a truckload of cash. The scorching atmosphere had everyone craving something icy to cool off.
Aria quickly took a seat towards her team as she got ready for the tournament. Just then, sprinkles of water came rushing towards them. They all gasped as they looked ahead to find a geeky looking guy from Bridgeton college with a bottle of water, obviously he was the mastermind.
"You better be taking off those off, it looks like the color of poop." He yelled out accompanied by a silly, funny face. Aria couldn't help but take a peek on their uniform, it was a royal blue color with streaks of gold that highlighted the beauty of the blue.
"If gold is the color of poop, that means we poop out gold. So y'all better be ready to eat it up, because your uniform looks like that of a poop-eating dog!" A gorgeous cheerleader fired back as she held steadily to her pom pom. She looked like a raging bull breathing out fire.
"How can you call wine red, embodied with ethereal-looking pure white, the color of a poop-eating dog? I suggest you get your eyes checked," the geeky Bridgeton student retorted, his voice brimming with anger.
"No, you are the one who needs it the most. You down to earth son of a bitch!" The cheerleader cussed out visibly angry.
"Oh, you did not just say that?" His voice laced with intense rage.
"Yes. I. Did." The cheerleader spelled out with a cocky smile.
"Say that one more, I dare you." With his hands akimbo, he stepped closer
"Make me," the cheerleader voiced out, taking a much closer step, as she and the Bridgeton stood only a few inches apart.
"You want a piece of me?!" He questionioned , he also took a closer step and was looking at his opponent square in the face.
"Valarie, give it to him back to back. You got this. We Lockwood are right behind you!!!" Jenny cheered on for the cheerleader.
"Yes Valarie. You got this!" Another student also cheered, boosting Valarie morale.
"Arthuro, show the bitch we run the town!" A loud voice from the Bridgeton college called out, clearly in support of their boy Arthuro, but it was followed by the booing from the Lockwoods as they gave them a big thumbs down.
"How can you cheer for a man to pick up a fight with a woman?!" Erica, a stunning melanin beauty, voiced out, standing fearless and ready to charge at the Bridgeton student at any moment.
Aria, who had been witnessing the whole scene, couldn't help but stifle a laugh, as the face-off from both schools looked like a husband and a wife bickering.
Memories of the past where her mom and her dad bickering over the tiniest thing was still vivid in her mind which they would seal off with a hug and a kiss being the icing on the cake. It was a pact her parents made and it really worked wonders in building up their relationship. Though they would grumble while doing so, a laugh was more likely to escape from either party and it brought back the harmonious and lively mood in their environment.
Aria didn't even know when tears escaped from her eyes, as she rushed to wipe it off. It wasn't the best omen to cry before the start of a game.
Just as she was about to wipe it away, she felt a piercing gaze from the crowd, making the hairs on her body stand on end. She felt exposed under that stare, and she couldn't have been more wrong."
Who could it be?
