HEARTS OF DIVINE RUIN (The MoonGoddess and The AlphaKing)

Chapter 28: Chapter 27 : A Tidal Wave of Remembrance

The room felt like a tomb, draped in shadows and silence. Dark, uninviting walls were lined with towering shelves, each packed with old tomes and twisted relics that seemed to hum with secrets. A single dim chandelier cast flickering, eerie light across the stone floor, throwing jagged shadows that seemed to claw at the walls. It was Lucifer's workroom—a place of power and authority—but tonight, it was colder than usual, the chill seeping deep into the air, making the space feel more like a prison than a sanctuary.
Lucifer settled behind the desk, his presence commanding and powerful, a dark aura rippling around him like a coiled serpent. He watched Luna carefully as she took a seat opposite him, her posture rigid, her gaze distant. There was a time when they would have shared easy laughter and whispered secrets even in the coldest of rooms. Now, an icy distance stretched between them, and the weight of it made the air feel suffocating.
Lucifer shifted, his dark gaze flickering over her face, studying her with an intensity that bordered on desperation. She had been like this since their arrival—cold, distant, and unresponsive, as if he were a stranger rather than someone who had once known her better than anyone else.
"You've been quiet since you arrived," he said, his voice low and steady, almost gentle—if not for the edge of authority beneath it. "Did something happen between you and Alex?".
Luna didn't answer, her expression remaining blank as she leaned back, crossing her arms. The silence hung like a blade between them, sharp and unforgiving. Lucifer's crimson eyes narrowed slightly, the familiar glint of frustration flickering in their depths. He leaned forward, elbows resting on the desk, fingers steepled together as he studied her.
"Me and Davina , we've been looking for you for the last two months," he continued softly. "Day and night. we had half of Hell's forces scouring every realm I could think of."
Luna's gaze slid to him, cold and unfeeling. "You were?" she asked quietly, almost mockingly.
"Of course," Lucifer replied, voice firm but with an undercurrent of raw emotion. "You're my only friend, Luna. I couldn't—" He stopped, swallowing hard, the wordless concern in his gaze almost unbearable to witness. "I thought something had happened to you."
"Friend?" Luna's lips curled into a bitter smile, her eyes burning with something unnameable. "If you were so worried, then why—" She inhaled sharply, the weight of her accusation heavy in the space between them. "Why were you in that group? The night I lost everything... Why were you standing there with the rest of them? Did you think I wouldn't remember your face?"
Her words struck like a physical blow, and for a moment, Lucifer looked genuinely taken aback. His shoulders tensed, the muscles of his jaw tightening visibly. He met her gaze, confusion and a flicker of anger dancing in his eyes.
"Luna, what are you talking about?" he asked slowly, his tone low and dangerous. "You asked me to be there. Have you forgotten?" His voice grew sharper, each word cutting through the icy barrier between them. "That night, the whole thing—it was your idea. You fucking knew what was gonna happen still you played with their game . " he continued sarcastically "Or i might say - Their game was also planned by you . "
Luna's eyes widened, disbelief mingling with the cold rage simmering beneath the surface. "My idea?" she echoed, incredulous. "Why the hell would I do something like that?"
Luna blinked, taken aback by the intensity in his tone. For the first time, she saw something raw and unguarded in his gaze—something that looked almost like... concern. But concern for what? "Why would I do something like that?" she demanded, her voice wavering slightly. "Why would I choose to be some pathetic, powerless human?"
"You tell me," Lucifer snapped, his usually smooth demeanor cracking. He leaned forward, his gaze boring into hers. "I told you not to go through with it. But you wouldn't listen. You said had this plan - indeed fool of me to believe you . Do you know how worried I was when you fucking vanished into thin air . weren't you supposed to put an act ?"
Luna recoiled slightly, shock rippling across her face. For the first time since their confrontation began, uncertainty flickered in her eyes. "Why... what was the reason?" she whispered, confusion bleeding into her voice. "Was it some prophecy ?—"
"It's for your own good if you don't remember," Lucifer interrupted, his voice strained. He looked away, a muscle jumping in his jaw as he tried to rein in his emotions. "Just—let it be, Luna."
"Tell me," she demanded, her voice hardening. "What was it about?"
"It was not the prophecy you wanted to avoid ,but - "Lucifer stopped in half , he clenched his fists, his knuckles white against the dark wood of the desk. When he finally continued, his voice was low and rough, tinged with something dark and bitter. "He's back, Luna."
The words crashed into her like a tidal wave, and she felt her heart stutter, her blood turning to ice in her veins. A slow, numbing fear spread through her body as she stared at Lucifer, the weight of his words sinking in.
"No," she whispered, shaking her head in denial. "That's not possible. He's dead. He's been dead for centuries."
Lucifer met her gaze steadily, the seriousness in his eyes chilling. "It doesn't matter. He's back. And the prophecy... you knew this was coming."
The room seemed to close in around her, the air thick and suffocating. Luna's thoughts whirled, fragments of memories and half-formed images flashing through her mind. She'd seen something, something terrible, but it was just out of reach—slipping through her fingers like sand.
"I don't understand," she murmured, her voice faint. "How can he be back ? I saw his body , you declared his death...I dont believe it ?" .
Lucifer sighed heavily, rubbing a hand over his face. "You don't remember anything, do you? "
He hesitated, his gaze softening as he looked at her. There was a flicker of something almost like pity in his eyes, but then he sighed, leaning back in his chair. "Two months ago, just before mine and Davina's wedding day, you came to me," he murmured quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. "You were... frantic. Angry. You told me you had seen something—a prophecy of his return ."
"Even if he is back , he can't be more powerful than you and me.?" Luna repeated, her mind racing. Pieces of a forgotten half-remembered puzzle shifted in her mind, fragments of a vision long buried clawing at the edges of her consciousness. "What was the prophecy about ?"
Luna stared at him, her heart pounding wildly. "What did I say?"
Lucifer's gaze was heavy, filled with something dark and dangerous. He took a deep breath, as if steeling himself, then met her eyes. "You said his return would mark the end of everything. That he's coming back for you, and when he does, the wolves..." He trailed off, his gaze burning into hers.
"...the wolves will fall." Luna murmured along him .
Her blood ran cold, dread coiling in her gut like a serpent. A prophecy. Her own words, spoken in a moment of desperate clarity, came rushing back to her in a whirlwind of fear and anguish.
Every blurred moment, every forgotten memory, flooded Luna like a wave crashing onto the shore. The fragments of her past—fragments she'd long buried—came rushing back with such intensity that they left her breathless. Faces, voices, emotions that once defined her, now reappeared as if they'd never truly left.
For a moment, she sat there as a mere shadow of the woman she had been before, yet somehow, something inside her had shifted. If anyone had seen her in those few seconds, they would say the Luna standing before them now was a mere reflection of the one she had been moments ago—stronger, sharper, and far more dangerous.

Like the old calculative and meticulous goddess was back but in a human shell .

"When ruin's pyre births the shadowed king,
The Elder Goddess's chains shall sing.
Under the blood moon's baleful gaze,
Wolves shall bow, consumed by his rage.
For kin lost and vows profaned,
He returns to reclaim what blood has stained.
Every howl that burned his home, Every breath stolen from flesh and bone—
He'll strip the Goddess of her divine might, And bleed her power to snuff out their light.
He shall feast on her strength, consume her grace,
And thus the creator shall become the destructor.
Protector will be the reason wolves perish without a trace.
Not for justice, but vengeance untamed,
He'll devour her soul, her name unclaimed.
And when she falls, in shadows' embrace, His wrath will erase every wolf from this place.
A blood debt owed, a family slain—
Their bloodline shall end, in agony and pain."
A prophecy of blood and death, of power and destruction.
