Chapter 12: THE AUCLAIRS
-Levi POV-
It's been two weeks since the incident with Louis and Lauren. Mr. Auclair and Louis grew closer over the course of a week. They keep coming to work together, having lunch together almost every day, and these past two weeks, Mr. Auclair has kept smiling, and I love to see that. But if this smile is only temporary and he will be hurt later, I will not accept it.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Someone knocked on the door, and I can guess who it is.
"Come in." I said lazily.
And then the door opens, revealing a black-haired man.
"You're here, Jason." As I said those words, Jason immediately walked towards me and now stood directly in front of me.
Jason Corbin. One of my bodyguards and a private investigator. The one I trust the most.
"So, did you investigate everything I asked you to?" Without wasting any time, I ask him directly about the job.
"Yes sir. This is all about Hanabi Charlotte Auclair, as you previously inquired. And I heard she just arrived in France." Okay, this one surprised me. Hanabi Charlotte Auclair has already arrived in France. Did Louis know? I took the files Jason handed me.
So, this is Hanabi Charlotte Auclair. What a beauty, just like his brother. She has the same eye colour as his brother, too. No wonder Louis would be dying to make this girl his.
She studied in the medical field at a university in Ireland and just finished her studies this year at the age of 23. She's still young. She is the youngest one in the Auclair Family's third generation. There is a big difference in age between her and Mr. Auclair. Is that why Mr. Auclair did anything in order to protect her?
She finished her medical studies when she was quite young. It's like she's very young because she did finish her MD at the age of 23! She completed her bachelor's degree in medicine at the age of 20 in the UK and then went on to earn her MD in Ireland. It took at least four to six years for someone to finish their MD, and in Ireland, they should at least have a minimum of one year of internship to proceed with the MD.
Notes: MD stands for Doctor of Medicine. It is a designation that indicates someone who has completed medical school.
"She finished her studies at a very young age for a doctor. She is, after all, an Auclair." I was very impressed.
"The Auclair Family requires all family members to finish the highest level of study first before starting work." For a moment, Jason's words shocked me.
"You mean, if the field they're studying has a PhD as the highest level, they need to finish their PhD first in order to start working?" I asked in disbelief. I never cared about others before, so it's a bit of a shocking fact for me.
"From what I heard, that's the tradition of the Auclair Family. Since they are related to the royal family, that's been a tradition." Jason said. If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Auclair's grandmother is the Princess of the UK Royal Family, and his grandfather is from the Noble Family in the UK, as his great-grandfather is from the Noble Family.
"So you're saying that Haruka Charles Auclair completed his Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and MD in only 6 years of study, whereas others took at least 10 years?" This is insane. I know he's a genius, but we're talking about the medical field here.
"Mr. Haruka Charles Auclair was the smartest kid in Japan when he was just 2 years old. His father enrolled him in university classes at the age of three, but he objected to it when he was 4 years old, saying that he wanted to live a normal life." Jason keeps giving me information that I actually don't even know yet.
So he can live like an ordinary person, even though he's a genius. Compared to me, I've been living in America since I was six years old, right after I lost my mother, due to the fact that I'm a genius. Everything was arranged by my father, and when I was 22, he finally asked me to come back to France to manage the company. Yes, my grandfather let me do whatever I wanted, but my studies and career were decided by my father, and my grandfather had no right to interfere with that. Well then, I'm a successful man now, so it doesn't even matter anymore. For now, I think.
"Wait, did he finish his studies in business in only 3 years? From a bachelor's degree to a doctorate?" Suddenly, I realised that. That was really insane. Even though I am a genius, I would never consider pursuing a PhD in business.
"Yes sir." Jason nodded. Right now, nothing shocks me anymore. Knowing Mr. Auclair, everything is possible for him. That's my future boyfriend. Well then, I'll investigate more about him later.
"Alright, I get that for now. So, how about Louis? Any suspicious movement?" Putting that thought aside, I should also ask about Louis.
"For the past two weeks, he just went to work and went to the usual bar. But yesterday I saw him meeting someone, and I assume he already knows Hanabi Charlotte Auclair is back." I raised my right eyebrow.
"Who is that guy, and what business does he have with Louis?" I knew he didn't know the details yet, but I just asked.
"I'm still investigating him, sir. But I suspect he is the one who works for Louis to track Miss Auclair's movements." He said it confidently, but I couldn't say I disagreed. That's maybe one of his men in pursuit of Hanabi.
"Okay, good job for today. If you notice anything, please notify me as soon as possible. You may go now." He bowed and left the room.
I look at my watch on my wrist. 12:30pm. I should go have lunch, or should I ask someone to go buy it for me? Wait a minute, Louis is going with father to see the progress of our company's new hotel, so that means Mr. Auclair is alone right now. I'm curious if he's had his lunch yet. I stood up from my seat and made my way out of my office, and there was Mr. Auclair, still working. Lucky.
"Ahem. Mr. Auclair, did you have lunch already?" I asked, and at the same time, I looked at his computer to see what he was working on.
"Not yet." Just like that. Without even looking at me, he focuses on his work.
"Then, let's have lunch together." I said, trying to catch his attention.
"It's okay, sir, I'm just going to have lunch at the company's café later." He continued to avoid eye contact with me. How rude. When Louis talked, he always looked at Louis and smiled. Tch.
"Well, I'm going to eat at the café too, so let's just go together." He looks at me this time, raising his eyebrows before he speaks.
"You're going to eat at the cafeteria? Are you sure, sir?" He looks at me, confused.
"Yeah sure. Why is it?" Am I not allowed to eat at the company's café?
"Nothing. Well, alright then. Let's go together then." He said as he put on his blazer and prepared to leave.
Wait, did he just say together? We're going to have lunch together, right? Omg, finally, this is not a dream, right? Thank you, Louis, for being away today otherwise, I'm not going to get this chance.
We both went down to the café together, but when we arrived, someone shouted Mr. Auclair's name.
"Haruka Oni-chan! I missed you!" A girl hugged Mr. Auclair suddenly. Who is this girl? Oni-chan? Wait, don't tell me she is….
"Hanabi, why are you here, and you don't even tell me you're back!" Mr. Auclair asked, patting Hanabi's head.
"Forget about that. "Look who I ran into." Hanabi dragged someone towards us.
"William." Mr. Auclair's voice only said one word.
William? Who is he?
