Ghost Slayer: My Wife Kanao

Chapter 15: ch15

Once Kanao Tsuyuri was completely full, Sam Miller signaled to the waiter.

The waiter immediately trotted over. "Sir, that will be 500 yen."

Sam paid a thousand yen. When he had killed Ichiro Tamoya earlier, he had collected a considerable amount of money from his body, so he wasn't short of funds now.

The waiter took the money and said, "I'll ask the shopkeeper to get your change right away. Please wait a moment, sir."

However, just as the waiter was about to leave, Sam's hand gently grabbed his shoulder.

The waiter looked at Sam with some confusion, unsure of what the boy in the bamboo hat wanted.

"I have something to attend to and will be leaving. My companion will stay here for a while, so please take care of her. You can keep the rest of the money," Sam said calmly.

The waiter was momentarily taken aback but quickly understood Sam's meaning and couldn't help but feel ecstatic. He knew that five hundred yen was equivalent to a month's wages. Now, he only needed to take care of this young lady to earn it, so he was naturally very pleased.

Although the young lady looked a bit dazed, he only needed to watch over her for a while.

"Rest assured, sir. Before you return, I will certainly..." The waiter hurriedly patted his chest in assurance.

Sam nodded, said nothing more, and then squatted down in front of Kanao. He gently picked off the grains of rice near her mouth with his fingers and encouraged her to swallow them.

Kanao seemed to sense something, her beautiful purple eyes fixed on him, and her small hand unconsciously clutching his sleeve.

He smiled and gently patted Kanao on the head. "I have something to do. Stay here obediently and wait for me to come back, okay?"

"If I can't return soon, you should follow those two sisters," he added, pointing to the Kochou sisters.

Sister Kanae Kochou, who had been closely observing Sam's table, stood up abruptly at Sam's words.

"So you did notice us," Shinobu Kochou said, pursing her lips. Her pretty face was serious, and one hand rested on the scabbard of her Nichirin Blade.

Sam ignored Shinobu, instead looking gently at Kanao. "Can you do that for me? This is the first time I'm asking you for something."

Kanao's small mouth opened slightly, but it seemed she hadn't spoken in a long time, or perhaps she had lost the ability to express human emotions, so no sound came out.

Sam rubbed the black hair on Kanao's little head affectionately, then stood up. The golden eyes beneath the bamboo hat looked at the Kochou sisters, who were also watching him intently.

Without saying anything, he turned and left, heading outside the restaurant.

The Kochou sisters naturally followed him without a word.

If it weren't for the fact that they were in a busy area and her sister had been holding her back, Shinobu Kochou would have long since attacked this ghost.

The waiter glanced suspiciously at the Kochou sisters who followed the young man in the bamboo hat, but he didn't concern himself with it. His task now was to take good care of Kanao until the gentleman returned.

After all, he had received a 500 yen tip.

...

In a dark alley, with a quiet environment, a young man wearing a black hat hurried past with quick steps. Closely following him were two girls in the uniform of the Demon Slayer Corps.

The slight wind blew, causing the emerald green butterfly hairpins on the girl's hair to flutter like dancing butterflies.

At the end of the alley, the boy in the black hat stopped and turned to face the Kochou sisters following him.

"Kanae Kochou—a name I've long wanted to meet," he said.

Kanae Kochou's delicate face showed a hint of astonishment, clearly not expecting this ghost to know her, and she unconsciously wanted to ask something.

Shinobu Kochou, standing next to her, said impatiently, "Sister, what are you doing talking to a ghost?"

"You were worried before about accidentally hurting the people around, but now there's no need to worry."

There was a hint of anger and hatred in Shinobu's purple eyes. She would never forget the scene where her parents were killed by ghosts right before her eyes. She hated ghosts. She hated all ghosts.

Breathing, flowing.

'Breath of Insects' was her original breathing technique, not yet complete, and a derivative of her sister's "Breath of Flowers." It was one of the most important methods the Demon Slayer Corps used to fight against demons by allowing humans to have ghost-like physical abilities for a short period.

Shinobu Kochou's hand pressed on the scabbard, barely waiting for her sister's order, and impatiently stepped forward.

The alley was silent, with only the sound of a girl's footsteps approaching.

Hum~~ It was a sound like insects.

Shinobu Kochou's hand on the scabbard at her waist swiftly drew her sword.
