“Ha…”

A hollow laugh escapes involuntarily. Choi Jinsu stared blankly, mouth agape, at the cause. The Ice Twist unleashed by Yu Ajun.

It was enhanced with water elemental magic, elevating the debuff, range, and power inherent to ice magic. And it wasn’t even countered with a power of the same caliber.

‘Running counter to the flow of magic…’

He would have said nothing if it were mere cautious walking. But this monster named Kim Shimun performed the feat of dashing forward, stepping on the amplified swirls of ice, as if racing on a roller coaster track.

Choi Jinsu wasn’t the only one astonished.

-Insane! Stepping on magic and running? Is that even possible?

-It is possible. Seen mid-tier players among Diamonds do that.

-Right… It’s possible, but… This guy just hit Gold, you know…

-But he did it, right?

-Damn! So, everyone’s reaction is the same! How is that even possible!

-Manager, this guy swore. Ban him, please.

To the viewers watching Kim Shimun’s broadcast running through the amplified 5-star magic Ice Twister, the reaction was intense.

Understandably.

Even though it was a broadcast classified under the deep rank, suggestive of lower viewership, Kim Shimun’s attracted not just the low, but also a significant number of high-rank viewers.

-Such a thing requires a perfect understanding of the magic’s structure, and stats vastly superior to the magic itself. Hence, this doesn’t make sense.

-Is this also a trait? There’s no finger flicking this time either?

-Seems like a trait. His body did transform a bit without flicking fingers.

-Yeah. Seems like a capability similar to Choi Jinsu’s?

-Could he have two traits?

-Rather have it be two traits. As a Platinum, I refuse to believe he accomplished that through control alone.

-Absolute agreement. Pure control? The Platinums in magic will be jumping into the Han River.

With high-rank players throwing out such professional comments, the chatroom naturally exploded into flames.

And then, “Here we go again.”

Kim Shimun’s gaze, having incited such a heated discussion, falls on the last survivor.

Choi Jinsu.

At the moment their eyes meet, Choi Jinsu flinched.

‘What, what’s this?’

He felt every muscle in his body tensing up. Not just from the overwhelming force displayed so far.

‘That appearance, something… something’s dangerous.’

Choi Jinsu, endowed with the SS-class trait Beastification, quickly recognizes the kind of fear he’s experiencing.

‘Predator!’

Yes. As if a beast confronted by a superior predator, he felt this instinctual fear.

‘Why? I’ve transformed into a Sharklodon…’

A notorious sea monster appearing only among Platinums, the Sharklodon.

Though newly advanced to Gold, not even half as powerful, his sharp, shark-like teeth and snout, along with the blade-like fins on his wrists, were unmistakably Sharklodon.

He should have reigned as a predator in these waters.

Why, then, did he feel fear?

‘Damn it! If only I hadn’t transformed!’

Of course, without the transformation, he wouldn’t have been able to breathe underwater to begin with. But facing such disgrace, simply from being faced with him, Choi Jinsu found himself unable to think straight.

“Gr, grr!”

Overwhelmed by an instinctual fear, Choi Jinsu desperately tries to move his body, grinding his teeth.

As Kim Shimun approaches, now red veins bulging in Choi Jinsu’s eyes, “Have you given up? Quite a change from your persistent charge before.”

Kim Shimun has already drawn near. Choi Jinsu wants to shout, it’s not me who changed, but you.

Yet, ‘My, my body… won’t move!’

Maybe because he’s now right in front of him? Even his tightly clenched teeth refuse to listen to him.

“Well, either way, it doesn’t matter. Personally, I have quite some respect for you.”

He realized the source of this indescribable terror.

‘The eye! It’s because of that eye!’

The left eye, intertwined with layers of a brilliant golden magic circle. At its center, a vertically split pupil, deep as an abyss, was the very thing that paralyzed me.

Yet, the person in question seemed unaware.

“There will be no pain, Choi Jinsu-ssi. You’ve worked hard.”

Shimun casually unleashed his razor-sharp claws.

Crunch.

Shimun’s hand pierced through the heart in an instant. Even if it was incomplete, it was still the hide of a Sharklodon. But the hand that pierced through it as easily as it had.

Splat!

A fountain of blood returned to its place.

[You have become the last survivor.]

[The winner of the Gold Rank debut match has been decided.]

A system window announcing the end of the debut match floated above Shimun.

[You have completed the mission of the Four Constellations.]

[You have earned 5,000 achievement points.]

A personal message window indicating mission completion popped up. Just as Shimun was about to deactivate his dragon form.

[A special condition has been met.]

[The final island begins to surface.]

Additional system windows popped up. The sea vibrated.

* * *

Bubbles burbled up relentlessly. Along with them, a massive island emerged, larger than any of the islands that had been submerged in Triaina.

‘I’m not sure what condition was met, but… is that the final island?’

Shimun, looking at the last island emerging not too far away, immediately headed towards it. He moved smoothly. Was it a swimming feature specific to the dragon form?

Or was it simply due to the powerful specs inherent to the dragon form itself?

‘What? I’m moving faster than when I processed [Sharklodon’s Physique]?’

Shimun advanced much faster than when he had previously processed the Sharklodon’s Physique.

Before long.

Woosh.

Shimun, arriving at the island, surfaced along with it from the ocean. The island, now basking in the strong, unique sunlight of the sea, appeared even larger than it had from underwater.

‘There are buildings, aren’t there?’

Shimun looked at a peculiar building situated at the center of the island. The architecture, similar to ancient Greek style but mixed strongly with a Persian feel, was constructed of stone.

Algae, seaweeds, and barnacles were scattered here and there, but the building’s ancient beauty was unmistakable. Shimun naturally approached the building at the center of the island.

Then.

Keeng.

“Huh?”

Shimun’s left eye.

A tingling sensation ran through the scales of his dragon-formed body and Odin’s eye. This was a different feeling from when he was warned about magic from the Yu siblings.

Driven by instinct, Shimun channeled his transformative power into Odin’s left eye.

And he could see.

‘There’s something inside?’

Could it be considered a kind of thermal imaging camera?

Something inside the building that appeared to be a lifeform was heading towards him.

The moment they came out of the building.

“Tha, that is!”

Shimun’s eyes widened.

It wasn’t just Shimun.

-No, that’s a lie, right? Am I seeing things wrong?

-Guys, is this for real? Is it?

-What is that? Don’t keep it to yourselves, let us all know.

-Just the sudden appearance of the island was curious enough, but why is everyone acting like this?

Not only the viewers.

[Constellation Zeus and Heavenly Demon appear to be displeased.]

[Constellation Black Goat is grinding her teeth.]

[Constellation Odin sighs softly.]

Even the usually silent thrones reacted. While the constellation’s reaction was somewhat unexpected, it wasn’t incomprehensible.

Because.

“Hiss, it’s a human.”

“Human? But it has scales?”

“Shush. There are hybrids even among the Dragonkin, wouldn’t the land-dwellers have some too?”

“That may be true, but surely this hybrid isn’t wielding the power of a god?”

Because the two Dragonkin in front of them were beings capable of such a thing.

“Get out…!”

Leave.

A half-human, half-serpent Dragonkin, also known as a Nagas.

-Crazy! We’re not even in the Diamond rank, why is a top-tier Dragonkin here?

-Don’t tell me it’s here for a fight?

-Nah, it’s probably just an event. We’ve never even seen this island before.

-But for an event, looks like it’s about to spear us any second?

Being like a Draconian, a top-tier Dragonkin.

‘At least it’s fortunate that both seem to be warriors…’

Even if both Nagas were of the warrior class. It wasn’t entirely reassuring.

“Hiss. Kill it and search the body, something will turn up.”

Boom.

Just from stomping the ground. The earth not only caved in but cracked wide open. Even though they were of the warrior class, unable to use magic. The physical prowess of a top-tier Dragonkin was, in itself, beyond most attack magic.

Boom!

“Shush! Dodging? For a land-dweller, you’re quite spry.”

The Naga, having shattered the ground with its massive trident. It flicked its snake-like tongue after quickly dodging an attack.

Then.

“Ha! This will be fun. Go ahead, try to run!”

With a burst of laughter, the Naga moved its long lower half.

Sssk!

‘So fast!’

Despite the bulk of its serpentine lower body. The Naga caught up to the movements on the ground at an incredible speed.

“Shush! Got you!”

Whoosh.

The trident, wrapping in a whistling sound of cutting air, dove to the right. At the same time.

“Kek! I’ll slice off your limbs!”

Another trident from a different Naga struck from behind. True to being top-tier Dragonkin. Without even a moment’s consultation, the two Nagas launched a seamless joint attack.

However.

‘I can’t dodge both.’

Without panicking from the pincer attack. Shimun quickly gathered his alchemy energy. These Nagas usually appeared in the Diamond rank. Just the act of taking a position and swinging was enough to put one at a disadvantage due to the sheer difference in basic specs.

Therefore.

‘I strike first!’

Click.

Shimun, moving forward, flicked his finger.

Zzap.

A bolt of lightning fell in front of Shimun. And naturally, grabbing the lightning, he aimed at the approaching Naga.

Pause.

“Sh-shush?!”

The Naga’s yellow eyes widened. And its action of thrusting their trident froze.

‘Now’s my chance!’

Shimun, with a flash in his eyes, thrust the Astrape into the thick chest muscles of the Naga.

Crackling Boom!

A deafening roar blasted through the air.

Even a top-tier Dragonkin couldn’t cope with an Astrape directly hitting it.

Hiss.

Without a chance to scream.

The Naga fell to the ground with a burning smell. Shimun failed to properly check Naga’s demise, stepping over the charred remains as he soared into the sky.

Following that, “Nenooom!”

A roar tore through the air.

The outcry of rage from another Naga at a comrade’s death compressed his form in an instant, coiling the lower half of his body like a serpent’s tight curl.

And then, with a spring-like release, “I’ll kill you!”

The Naga closed the distance with Shimun in a flash.

At that moment, Shimun’s body, already at its peak, flipped downwards towards the ground below, his hand still clutching the sparking Astrape.

‘Using Linked Force drains too much energy, combining it with Heavenly Demon Arts would be overkill… But, the power I hold with Astrape alone should suffice.’

Just as Naga erupted from below and Shimun descended from above, their eyes locked.

“T-That!”

Surprised, the soaring Naga stiffened, startled like the one before him. Shimun, seizing the moment, slammed down the Astrape with the force of his fall. Crackles of lightning tore through the scaled head.

A giant black form lost its head to the explosive force, wreathed in white smoke as it crashed to the ground. Shimun landed gracefully, flipping in the air, stepping off the fallen Naga’s corpse.

‘Phew, that was close to death.’

Despite encountering numerous threats in the Galaxy Arena, none chilled his spine like the combined attack of those two Nagas. As Shimun steadied himself, a piercing sound erupted from Odin’s Eye.

And then, -“Truly astonishing.”

A voice both terrifyingly beautiful and entrancing whispered into his ear.

[Due to an unforeseen special circumstance, all broadcasts and transmissions will temporarily be suspended.]

[No transmissions will proceed until the situation concludes.]

A sudden message obscured Shimun’s view.

-“What the–? The screen just went black!”

-“Damn, did the Arenia server crash? What’s this about?”

-“Cut off at this moment? Are they insane!”

-“Even the national channels are blank, looks like it’s blocked.”

Chat rooms plunged into a maelstrom of confusion.

However, with the broadcast itself blocked, Shimun couldn’t see the chat.

Nor did he have the leisure to.

-“To possess the Eye of a King, and not just control Poseidon’s Triaina but also wield Zeus’ might.”

A voice strong enough to shake the soul.

Thanks to Odin’s Eye and his transformation, Shimun remained calm, turning towards the source of this alien voice.

“Crazy…”

He couldn’t help but curse aloud.

It wasn’t just because this Naga was larger than the previous ones.

Nagas were classified by the number of their arms, increasing in multiples of two, which correspondingly marked their power exponentially.

The two Nagas Shimun had just dealt with were the weakest, having only two arms.

“It has eight arms.….”

But the Naga before him had eight. Considering his past experiences, this was a level of power that not even Diamond-ranked or Ranker players could face.

In other words, -“Oh, discussing the number of arms? You seem quite knowledgeable about us.”

Shimun was facing a being beyond his reach.

Fortunately, -“The more I see, the more intriguing you become. This is getting…”

This supreme being showed no hostility.

Rather, -“This is getting interesting.”

It expressed a liking.
