Chapter 12: Kaitou’s Affinities

The next morning upon waking up, Kaitou didn't immediately get up but rather opted to check his status, something he hadn't done for quite some time now.

Kaitou thought, 'Status,' and once again, the familiar yet enigmatic screen appeared before him.

"*Whistle*, wow my status really increased. I guess the training was worth it after all, and with my current amount of chakra I should have no problem at all when learning Ninjutsu. But I guess I should also slowly start using my *Red Eyes*, it would be a waste to just use them superficially after all," Kaitou was so ecstatic when he saw his growth over the last few years, that he couldn't help himself and even whistled for a moment.

'Though, it still feels a bit awkward that I'm still level 1, seems that this will only change when I fully unlock the quest function or start doing "missions". I do wonder what the benefits for leveling up will be… whatever, I'll find out in due time.'

When he was finished with looking at his status he quickly freshened up, as he wasted quite some time staring at his status and just trained a bit in [Chakra Control] before he was called for breakfast. He then quickly took his custom-made chakra affinity seal and went towards the dining room.

Upon arriving, just as he expected nearly all-important faces were present, the only one missing was his grandfather and patriarch. He quietly sat down on his spot and when the food was brought in everyone soon began eating. It was a mostly comfortable atmosphere, though, one side of the table was more of the silent oppressive type, because somehow Tobirama and Madara were seated right in front of each other.

As the breakfast neared its end, Kaitou began his plan. To get the attention of everyone present he used the classical etiquette normal reserved for more formal occasions and tapped his glass with his fork softly a few times. The sound surprised most of the people in attendance, but they still paid attention to what Kaitou seemingly wanted to tell everybody.

"*cough* As you may know, now that I'll have more free time because I don't have to use up so much time for Fūinjutsu, I want to add something else to my regiment. And that something is Ninjutsu," starting with a short cough, he explained his ground and seeing that everyone was now really paying attention he continued, "I think that to start this training or rather to undergo this training in the right way, that I should learn from people who are actually very proficient not only in the theory but also in actual combat, and with a few of the best candidates present right now, I wanted to ask if I could study under them…"

"Kaitou… you know that they can't stay here for long, right?" his father asked a bit hesitant.

"Yes. Therefore, I meant to rather follow them if that could be possible, father."

"…hmmn, normally I definitely wouldn't agree to this for now, but if it is with your uncles I can't really imagine you being in any danger, so… okay, if they agree."

Madara raised an eyebrow, his usually stoic demeanor giving way to mild curiosity as he exchanged a glance with Hashirama. The latter chuckled softly, clearly amused by the boldness of his young nephew.

"You've certainly inherited the Uzumaki determination, Kaitou," Hashirama said warmly. "But tell me, why do you wish to learn Ninjutsu? What's your ultimate goal?"

Kaitou met his uncle's gaze without hesitation. "There are a few reasons for this uncle, to protect my clan is one of them, another is that I know that to truly have a say in this world, you need the strength to make others listen to you. While Fūinjutsu is a powerful art, it alone isn't enough in every situation. I want to be versatile, to make sure that no matter the challenge, I'm ready to face it head-on. And… well, to be honest, I also want to see how far I can push myself."

Madara smirked faintly, folding his arms. "Ambitious. That's good. But don't let ambition cloud discipline; mastering Ninjutsu demands both precision and patience. Are you prepared for that? And never forget, no matter how talented you are in Fūinjutsu, Ninjutsu is a completely different story."

Kaitou nodded firmly. "Yes, Uncle Madara. I'll do whatever it takes."

The table grew silent for a moment as the elders seemed to consider the request. Tobirama, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke up, his tone sharp but not unkind. "Ninjutsu isn't just flashy techniques, Kaitou. It's about understanding the essence of chakra, how to mold it efficiently, and applying it with precision. From what I've seen, you already have exceptional chakra control. That's a good foundation."

Madara leaned forward slightly, his crimson eyes narrowing with a glint of interest. "If you truly want to learn, you'll train under me. I won't go easy on you, though. You'll face real combat scenarios, learn techniques that push your limits. But… you'll become strong. Stronger than most."

Hashirama grinned. "Of course, I can't let Madara have all the fun. If you want to study Ninjutsu, I'll show you some techniques that focus on versatility and defense. After all, not every battle is won with brute force."

"Pah, as if you two are the most suited for this. Madara, your Fire Release is unmatched, but you lack the finesse with other elements. And you, brother, versatile? You mostly focus on your Wood Release. If anyone should teach Kaitou, it's me - his godfather, no one else," argued Tobirama in his usual stern tone, though his competitiveness was clear.

Kaitou was elated, but he showed only as much as was needed, bowing his head respectfully. "Thank you, Uncles. I promise not to waste this opportunity. And to further see who should teach me, I made something that could help in the selection."

Madara smirked interested. "Oh, what would that be."

Unfazed by the slightly challenging tone, Kaitou held up a flat, circular object inscribed with intricate patterns of seals. "This is my elemental affinity detector," he explained, tracing the glowing seals with his finger. "It works by channeling chakra through specific circuits that correspond to each element, revealing affinities based on resonance."

At first, nobody knew what they were looking at. But as Kaitou explained its purpose and the way it worked, astonished looks spread across the room.

"That… that's incredible Kaitou," exclaimed Mito and Kazuto at the same time, as they were the ones who fully understood the significance, Tobirama also nodded slightly, already thinking about the possibilities.

"Can this be produced in higher quantities Kaitou?" asked his father with a raised eyebrow.

"Not for now, I'm sure that there will be a way to create something like this easier in the future, but this for now works through the combination of many seals that work together. So it is more of a prototype. But it should still work," he explained with a calm tone.

"Well then, show us the result. I think I'm speaking for everyone here if I'm saying that we are now quite interested in the result if it really works how intended," exclaimed the typically cheerful Hashirama.

Kaitou then guided his chakra into his seal formation, and soon many lights lit up. Around the formation were seven lights, red, green, yellow, blue, brown, black and white. One for each of the elements existing in this world. For a moment there was only silence, as many were thinking the same thing, 'Is this thing working correctly, or does he really have all elemental affinities.'

Hashirama clapped his hands, breaking the tension. "I guess this settles the question then! Kaitou will join all of us for training. Let's finish breakfast and plan out the next few weeks."

They continued chatting energetically and thought of the ways where and how they would teach Kaitou. Though, one couldn't tell it easily, for those that knew him well, it was obvious that Tobirama seemed to be the most elated, by the prospect of Kaitou having all the chakra affinities, the same as him.
