Chapter 25: Installing the Device
Chapter 25: Installing the Device
Leon walked back and forth around the sea beast's corpse three times. In the end, he even jumped into the sea to study it for a while. Finally, he confirmed the general situation of the sea beast before him.
The sea beast in front of him appeared to be a mutated Mosasaurus. Though it was unclear how it had ended up here, the creature had evidently been trapped on the rocks at the edge of the cliff during high tide and eventually starved to death.
For a long time after the Mosasaurus died, no one noticed it. Only the seawater, carrying sand and gravel, came and went. As a result, the Mosasaurus’ body slowly fused with the rock that had trapped it.
If one didn’t pay close attention, they wouldn’t even realize that it was a corpse.
Who knows how many years ago, the Black Hand organization built a base here. They threw a large number of useless bodies into the sea, attracting the three-headed snake, Bikadrak. Since then, the Mosasaurus' corpse became a platform and a latrine for the three-headed snake.
The bones scattered across the corpse were leftovers from the three-headed snake’s meals. Not only that, but the water also contained a large number of bones, which had even altered the properties of the surrounding waters.
After measuring and calculating, Leon realized that if he only took the Mosasaurus’ corpse, it would be a waste of this dungeon opportunity. The best course of action was to take the rock that had fused with the Mosasaurus, the pile of skeletons on its back, and the polluted seawater as well.
But if he wanted to take all those things, it would be too much. The positioning devices Leon had brought with him might not be enough. He had to make some compromises.
After calculating for a long time, Leon finally made a decision. The Mosasaurus’ body was definitely going to be taken back in its entirety, and the bones on its back could also be brought along.
As for the underwater part, two positioning devices would be used to relocate the rock that had trapped the Mosasaurus. The bones and seawater, however, would depend on his luck.
Having made his decision, Leon swiftly took action. He quickly placed the smallest type of positioning device on various points across the surface of the Mosasaurus’ body, on the rocks holding it in place, and finally, he tossed about a dozen into the sea.
These fist-sized devices were used to determine the size of the target. Generally, they only needed to be placed on the surface of the target.
Next came twenty-eight of the shortest positioning devices. These were for the earth vein positioning, meant to inform the teleportation system which energies needed to be locked and extracted together.
The arrangement of these twenty-eight positioning devices was much more complicated. Leon had to consider the energy flow inside the Mosasaurus or the direction of its patterns. If there was an error, the positioning device might be wasted, and the Mosasaurus might not be extracted in its entirety.
To ensure this, Leon repositioned, studied, and re-examined the placement repeatedly, taking three full hours to complete the task.
After that, it was time for the seven longer positioning devices.
These were spatial positioning devices. Their effect was to take everything within their range when activated.
Leon could now take all the bones on the Mosasaurus' back, the underwater bones, and the seawater.
Of course, these devices weren’t originally meant for transporting bones or similar things. Leon had initially intended to lock onto the Mosasaurus’ internal organs to see if any were still usable.
However, to ensure he could take what he wanted, Leon placed two positioning devices on the Mosasaurus’ back, one underwater, and with the remaining four devices, he climbed into the Mosasaurus' mouth.
Although most of the Mosasaurus' body had petrified, the mouth and throat remained passable. Crawling into the mouth, one could see the passageway leading down the throat.
Following this path led to the stomach, and from there, Leon could access the lungs, heart, and brain—the places he intended to reach.
The stomach, lungs, heart, and brain were essential parts that Leon needed to make sure he took. There were still many other parts Leon wanted to bring along, but his equipment was insufficient, so he had to settle for this.
After installing these devices inside the Mosasaurus, Leon was left with just one last, longest positioning device.
This final device was the main positioning device. The main positioning device had three functions. The first was to lock onto all the other positioning devices to ensure none were left behind.
The second function was an energy supplement device, which injected energy into all the positioning devices. Without energy, even if everything was positioned, the items wouldn’t be able to be teleported out.
The third function was to communicate with the academy’s spatial system. The energy required to bring dungeon items back to the real world was enormous, and without active communication, the process couldn’t be completed.
Because of this, the placement of the main positioning device was particularly important. After climbing out of the Mosasaurus' belly, Leon walked over its back again before finally deciding to place it between the Mosasaurus' eyes, on its forehead.
After deciding on the spot, Leon didn’t rush to act. He double-checked all the other positioning devices to make sure there were no issues.
Once everything was confirmed, he approached the designated location and inserted the longest main positioning device into the Mosasaurus' forehead.
The moment the metal pole was inserted into the ground, a beam of white light shot from the top, piercing into the sky.
Then, the seven mirrors in the middle layer of the device began rotating rapidly, gathering countless beams of light from all directions. The light traveled through the mirrors and onto the lower part of the metal pole, then spread out toward the other positioning devices.
Whether the devices were locking onto a bonfire, a diamond, or a gemstone, they all responded with a corresponding light once the white beam passed over them.
Even the underwater positioning devices reacted. In an instant, the Mosasaurus was enveloped by a huge web of light.
However, the light didn’t stop there. Instead, it grew brighter and more concentrated. When the light web was about to become a cocoon of light, a red beam shot down from the sky.
The red beam hit the longest main positioning device directly, forcefully opening a black spatial door. The Mosasaurus and all the designated objects were lifted into the air together.
Watching from the platform, the Squad breathed a sigh of relief.
The Hunter turned to his teammate and said, “Looks like our young friend has completed the mission. We can go back now.”
As the Hunter spoke, a flash of red light passed by, and then everything disappeared into the air. The Mosasaurus below the cliff had completely vanished, leaving only the three heads of the three-headed snake hanging over the edge of the platform.
