Chapter 91: Truth from Michael’s Mouth
In the bustling halls of Kuoh Academy, Izashi's intuition proved correct as Issei effortlessly managed to handle Gasper, much to Izashi's relief. The young man was grateful to avoid the hassle of dealing with the timid vampire himself. Gasper's peculiar nature often made him more trouble than he was worth, and if not for the potential power of his sacred gear, Izashi might have considered cutting ties with him long ago. But for now, he was content to let Issei take the reins.
As Rias and her peerage escorted Gasper back to the school, Izashi's attention shifted to the main gate, sensing an impending shift in the atmosphere.
The air grew heavy as he walked, an eerie silence enveloping the area. Izashi's sharp senses picked up on the approaching presence of powerful beings, and he steeled himself, knowing that this encounter would be far from ordinary.
Suddenly, a familiar figure appeared before him, accompanied by a stunning woman. It was Sirzechs Lucifer, Izashi's older brother and the current Satan, and by his side stood Serafall Leviathan, the beautiful leader of the Devils.
Sirzechs, always the mischievous one, flashed a playful grin at Izashi. "Ah, Iza-tan, my dear little brother! What a pleasant surprise! I see you've brought Ria-tan along as well. How thoughtful of you to visit me at Kuoh Academy."
Rias, standing nearby, couldn't help but roll her eyes at her brother's antics. She was well aware that his childish behavior often caught others off guard, and she secretly hoped that Izashi would keep him in check.
Izashi, unperturbed by his brother's theatrics, cut straight to the chase. "Brother, I'm curious. What brings you and Serafall-san to our school today? Is there a specific reason for your visit?"
Before Sirzechs could respond, a gust of wind swept through the area, and a figure descended from the sky, his presence commanding the attention of all. It was Azazel, the renowned leader of the Fallen Angels, adorned with twelve magnificent wings. His voice, deep and authoritative, filled the air. "Greetings, Izashi Gremory. I am here to explain the purpose of our gathering. We, the leaders of our respective supernatural factions, have come together to negotiate a treaty of peace and cooperation."
Izashi's curiosity grew, and he arched an eyebrow. "A peace treaty? Is this solely between the Devils and Fallen Angels, or are there others involved?"
As if in response to his question, another powerful presence made itself known. The air shimmered, and Michael, the strongest angel in the Heavens and the son of God, appeared before them. His serene voice carried a sense of calm. "Not just us, Izashi Gremory. The angels also wish to be a part of this alliance for peace. We seek to put an end to the conflicts that have plagued our realms for too long."
Sirzechs nodded in agreement, his expression turning solemn. "Indeed, we must seize this opportunity to bring harmony to our worlds. Let us retire to the meeting room and begin the negotiations. Time is of the essence."
As the group prepared to depart, Izashi turned to Michael and made an unexpected request. "Michael-san, if it is within your power, I would like to ask a favor. Could you summon Xenovia and Irina, the exorcists who possess the fragments of the sacred Excalibur?"
Michael was taken aback by the request, but he glanced at Sirzechs, who gave a subtle nod of approval. With a slight smile, Michael closed his eyes, his divine power reaching out to the two exorcists. 'Xenovia and Irina, this is Michael, the son of God. If you are able, please make your way to the gate of Kuoh Academy. Your presence is required.'
In a nearby church, Xenovia and Irina, the two exorcists, were deep in meditation, their minds still reeling from their recent encounter with Kokabiel. It had been a week since Izashi had shattered the Excalibur into five fragments, and they had spent every waking moment searching for and reassembling the sacred sword. Their strength was nearly restored, and they were eager to continue their mission.
When Michael's message reached them, it was like a bolt of lightning striking their minds. The thought of meeting the Son of God, the very embodiment of their faith, filled them with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. They had heard tales of Michael's power and wisdom, and the thought of standing before him was almost overwhelming.
"Did you feel that, Irina?" Xenovia asked, her eyes wide with anticipation. "Michael, the Son of God, has summoned us. We must go to him at once!"
Irina, her eyes sparkling with determination, nodded. "Yes, Xenovia. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Let us not keep the Son of God waiting."
The two exorcists hurriedly made their way to the gate of Kuoh Academy, their steps quickening with each passing moment. As they approached, they could sense the powerful auras of the gathered leaders, each unique and awe-inspiring. But it was Michael's aura, pure and divine, that drew their attention the most.
Xenovia and Irina exchanged glances, their eyes reflecting a mixture of awe and confusion. They had never imagined that they would witness such a gathering, let alone be summoned by the Son of God himself. But their confusion deepened when they spotted Izashi Gremory, his smirking face seemingly directed at them.
"What is the meaning of this?" Irina whispered, her voice laced with uncertainty. "Why are we here, and why is Izashi Gremory present?"
Xenovia, her mind racing, suddenly remembered the bet they had made with Izashi. The terms were clear: if they lost, they would be at his beck and call. A shiver ran down her spine as she realized the implications of their wager.
"The bet," she whispered, her eyes meeting Irina's.
Despite their situation, their faith in God remained unwavering. If God was truly dead, as Izashi had claimed, how could they still wield the power of the sacred Excalibur? It was a question that lingered in their minds.
Irina, pushing aside her doubts, focused on the opportunity to meet Michael, the divine messenger. Xenovia, however, couldn't shake the feeling of uneasiness, her mind racing with thoughts of the bet and its potential repercussions.
As they reached the gate, Izashi greeted them with a serious expression, his eyes holding an intensity that made them both pause. "Michael-san, I have heard tales of your unwavering virtue. They say you have never committed a sin, and thus, you have never lied. Is this true?"
Michael, his eyes narrowing further, nodded. "I have never lied, Izashi Gremory. My words are as true as the divine power that flows through me."
While he said this, Michael was curious about Izashi, the younger brother of Satan Lucifer, whose power and presence were shrouded in mystery. The only beings he could not see with his divine sight were the Devils and Fallen Angels who were as powerful as himself or those who possessed some form of concealment ability. Izashi's aura, while strong enough to rival an Ultimate Class Devil, did not reveal his true strength, leading Michael to believe that he had some form of concealment technique.
Michael's curiosity about Izashi was further piqued as he recalled the powerful Dragon God's Aura that had prevented him from witnessing Izashi's battle with Kokabiel and the subsequent bet with Xenovia and Irina. He knew that Izashi was up to something, but he had no idea what it could be.
"Michael-san, I must ask you a question of great importance," Izashi continued, his voice carrying a weight that demanded attention. "Is it true that God, the one who bestowed upon you your power, is no more? Is God truly dead?"
Michael hesitated, his eyes betraying a flicker of uncertainty. He knew that his answer would be a devastating blow to Xenovia and Irina, but he had never spoken an untruth, and he would not do so now. "Yes, Izashi Gremory. The God who granted me my power is indeed dead. He perished in the last great war."
Xenovia and Irina stood frozen, their eyes widening in disbelief. The revelation hit them like a thunderbolt, shattering their faith and the very foundation of their existence. They had never imagined that their unwavering belief could be built upon a lie.
Sensing their distress, Michael spoke with gentle compassion. "I understand that this news may be difficult to accept. I ask that you keep this knowledge to yourselves. If word of God's demise were to spread, it could plunge our realms into chaos."
Xenovia and Irina remained silent, their minds reeling from the revelation. Michael, sensing their turmoil, turned to Izashi, who wore a confident smirk.
Izashi, sensing the gravity of the situation, decided to give Xenovia and Irina some time to process the news. He turned to Serafall, his expression turning serious. "Serafall, perhaps it is time for you and the other leaders to commence the meeting. Rias, you should join them as well. I will speak with Xenovia and Irina and help them come to terms with the truth."
Serafall, who had been quietly observing the exchange, spoke up with a playful tone. "Riiight, let's get this meeting started! I have a date with Sona-taaan later, and I don't want to be late."
Michael couldn't help but sweatdrop at Serafall's exuberance, while Azazel chuckled, amused by her lively personality. Sirzechs, ever the protective older brother, turned to Izashi and said, "Iza-tan, take your time with Xenovia and Irina. Once you've helped them process this revelation, please join us at the meeting. Your strength and potential make you a valuable asset, and you may very well be my successor one day."
Izashi's smirk widened, his eyes gleaming with determination. "Of course, big brother. I will join you shortly."
Rias, sensing the tension in the air, turned to her peerage and addressed Gasper. "Gasper, I'm afraid your power is still too unstable for you to attend the meeting. It would be best if you remained behind."
Gasper's shoulders slumped in disappointment, but Izashi, ever the compassionate one, offered a solution. "Don't worry, Gasper. I've set up a new video game in the Occult Clubroom. It's simple and entertaining, so you can enjoy yourself while we're away."
Gasper's eyes lit up at the mention of a new game, his spirits instantly lifted. Rias and her peerage, along with Sirzechs, Azazel, and Serafall, departed for the meeting, leaving Izashi alone with Xenovia and Irina.
The air between the three of them was thick with anticipation and unease. Izashi's smirk had faded, replaced by a cold, calculating stare. Xenovia and Irina could feel the weight of the bet pressing down on them, their eyes locked in a silent exchange.
"Well, Xenovia, Irina," Izashi said, his voice dripping with a mixture of satisfaction and anticipation. "Are you prepared to fulfill your end of the bet? The time has come for you to honor your word."
