Eternal Evil Emperor

Chapter 9: Chapter 9 You Live I Die, Massacre (Part 1)

For twelve years, Xie Tian raced for his life for the first time.

He had no choice but to run, those eyes that caused his body to ache with pain were right behind him, he couldn't imagine how high Chen Feng's cultivation was behind him, that just a gaze could make him back down.

The murderous intent that overflowed in Chen Feng's speech was something he had never felt before, strong and resolute. The Martial Artist with the knife half a month ago was like an ant compared to Chen Feng.

He was terrified, his heartbeat reached its limit, his blood nearly boiling, he didn't care about the rapid depletion of his vital energy because Xie Sha told him that the opponent killing him would be as simple as crushing an ant.

But no matter how fearful, that trace of calmness in Xie Tian's eyes never disappeared, the mad old man was puzzled. Calmness meant having a backup plan, but he didn't believe that Xie Tian, always under his watch, had a chance to live.

On Anlan Mountain, the Martial Artists witnessed a very eerie scene, a cripple frantically fleeing in the wilderness, with a master casually following not far behind, like a cat playing with a mouse. Everyone who saw this scene shook their heads, believing the cripple wouldn't last two hours.

After two hours, the Martial Artists stopped what they were doing in astonishment because the cripple had run past them alive, although his face was pale, his footsteps unsteady, his speed hadn't slowed much.

Then they saw the master again, this time, though he strenuously maintained the image of a superior, the sharp-eyed Martial Artists could see that his face was turning black, clearly a bit angered.

Done for, the master angered, the cripple definitely wouldn't last an hour.

But half an hour later, they saw the cripple running down the mountain, passing right by them...

As if struck by lightning, the Martial Artists looked at each other, the next moment, they carefully followed the two, wanting to witness firsthand how long this cripple could survive under the master's pursuit.

At the same time, they were also curious, why did the cripple pass by them three times, taking such an obvious detour, what was he trying to do?

The chase grew increasingly larger, weaving around the mountain a couple more times, and more members joined, around ten wild wolves trailed far behind the humans.

Wild wolves were the lowest level of fierce beasts, a Martial Artist at the first level of brute force could easily handle one, everyone ignored the wolves, yet the wolves, despite trembling in fear by the humans, strangely continued to follow, occasionally howling.

When the exhausted Xie Tian collapsed to the ground, rolling under a cyan stone, Chen Feng finally stopped walking, his face gradually covered with mockery and ferocity.

"Vital energy completely drained, running full speed for two hours, honestly, I didn't expect that," Chen Feng coldly swept a glance at the Martial Artists behind him, his powerful murderous aura driving them back, then he turned his head towards the collapsed Xie Tian and sneered, "I think I know why that person wants to kill you, a cripple being so persistent, is indeed a bit frightening."

Xie Tian couldn't hear what Chen Feng was saying, his ears were filled with the sound of his own rapid breathing, feeling his body getting colder, he summoned the last bit of strength from his bones and fumbled out a piece of dragon-leopard wood, stuffing it into his mouth.

However, this time eating it, he didn't feel a trace of burning pain, because the limit-breaking sprint for two hours had used up 99% of his vital energy, his consciousness was already blurry, his body already numb.

Originally, he wanted to use the burning pain to stimulate himself, but unfortunately, he couldn't feel the pain and couldn't perform the three sets of moves to cultivate and replenish his vital energy, meaning he could only watch as his vital energy completely dissipated, leading to his death.

"What a pity…"

Faint wolf howls came to his ears intermittently, Xie Tian felt somewhat happy and somewhat regretful, happy that what the book said was right, the wild wolves had indeed been drawn to him, showing that knowledge indeed was as powerful as cultivation.

Unfortunately, he was unable to witness the success of his own plan, and despite fighting for his life, he still could not overcome death.

As death drew nearer, Xie Tian became calmer; his body felt light and his consciousness fuzzy—it was comfortable...

"Is this the taste of death? I really want to die because it feels so good…"

Yet, why is there still an unrelenting obsession lingering in my heart?

The old lunatic sighed lightly. At this point, he had seen through Xie Tian's plan. If it had worked, Chen Feng might not have died, but Xie Tian would have managed to escape and ascend. Xie Tian's wisdom had moved him once again.

However, facing the dying Xie Tian, he did not act.

Because the mission passed down to him through generations—though a few steps from completion—did not include saving the life of the heir.

He admired Xie Tian, but he would not save him. The most he could do was perhaps, after Xie Tian died, to eliminate some people he disliked because of his admiration for Xie Tian, such as a few from the Xie family and Chen Feng.

"Perhaps, I don't even need to act against Chen Feng…" The old lunatic muttered sorrowfully, looking at Chen Feng surrounded by hundreds of wolves.

The Martial Artists had to retreat another hundred yards, not because the wolves posed a threat to their lives, but because the whole mountain was filled with their howling.

But they didn't leave; they realized that the wolves had only one target: Chen Feng. The wolves hadn't even spared them a glance, so they could continue watching.

As they watched, a thick confusion grew within them—all wondering what awful thing the master had done to be so targeted by the wolves.

Although Chen Feng's expression was cold, he wasn't concerned about the one or two hundred wolves before him. Even if he couldn't kill them all, with his level eight brutish strength, he could still escape. Right now, the most important thing was to cut off Xie Tian's head.

But with his first step, hundreds of wolves simultaneously tensed up, their bodies tightened, ready to pounce crazily at Chen Feng's next move!

"What's going on!"

A strong sense of crisis suddenly overwhelmed Chen Feng. Disbelief filled his eyes, and his right foot suspended in the air dared not touch the ground. The wolves' unusual behavior made him suddenly feel that he had become their arch-enemy, locked in a fight to the death!

The Martial Artists were also startled; it was too weird, as they had never seen or heard of such a scene. Seeing the master holding his one-legged pose, they almost laughed.

But they couldn't laugh, as more and more wolves emerged from the woods. In a matter of a few breaths, they had thickened the original encirclement several times over!

Within that circle, there were only two people: Chen Feng, standing on one leg, and Xie Tian, who was gradually stepping toward death under a green rock.

Chen Feng was scared. Even though he had the power to kill any of the wolves instantly, there were nearly a thousand wolves surrounding him now—there was no chance of survival, let alone escape.

"I am a descendant of the Chen family from Yangshuo City; if anyone is willing to help, I will surely offer a generous reward!"

The Martial Artists all took a step back. They were indeed tempted, but the situation was too bizarre, and even if they were not afraid to die, they were worried about getting contaminated by something inexplicable.

And what did that glare from earlier mean? Now that you need us, you're all sweet-talking?

As Xie Tian focused on identifying his own obsession, a trace of Yuan Yang spontaneously formed within him.

With the appearance of this trace of Yuan Yang, a continuous flow began to emerge from his body. In just a few breaths, his vision cleared, and he saw the blue sky, heard the lovely howls of wolves, and Chen Feng's slightly tearful cries for help.

Xie Tian didn't understand why the Yuan Yang had suddenly appeared, and he wasn't in the mood to ponder it. After feeling his body reinvigorated, he consumed a Dragon Leopard Wood and then stood up, ignoring both humans and wolves, focusing solely on practicing his Yuan Cultivation Technique.

The crazy old man's jaw dropped again.

At that moment, the wolves were crazily rushing towards Chen Feng.

Flesh flew and blood splattered, a high-level expert, amidst desperate circumstances, displayed tremendous fighting power in front of everyone. Even a light elbow touch could shatter a wolf's tough skull, and his punches could send a wolf flying...

However, there were too many wolves.

"Little bastard, you've doomed me!"

"Even if I die, I will kill you!"

"I want to drink your blood, eat your flesh!"

...

Chen Feng seemed mad, his blood-red eyes not even glancing at the wolves, but glaring at Xie Tian, who was leisurely performing various moves on a bluestone ten zhang away. Amidst endless slaughter, he was slowly getting closer to Xie Tian. He was puzzled why, within the same encirclement, only he was attacked by the wolves, not Xie Tian. So, he wanted to get to him too.

That was everyone's question.

Ten zhang, nine zhang...

As the distance closed, more wolf corpses piled up, and the fighting remained fierce, but no matter how close he got, not a single wolf attacked Xie Tian.

When his body was filled with Yuan Yang, Xie Tian stopped cultivating and turned to look at Chen Feng.

"You're trying to escape."

Chen Feng, looking insane, suddenly stumbled, and three gashes from wolf claws appeared on his back.

"In about an hour, you'll be able to run. The wolves won't chase you."

"Really?" Chen Feng shook again, ignoring the suddenly numerous new wounds on his body, and asked with wide blood-red eyes.

Xie Tian nodded, drawing out a short blade stained with the blood of the Qianji Snake: "But I will chase you."

"Hahaha, what a foolish young fool!"

Chen Feng was greatly energized. He indeed had been thinking about escaping. Just a jump from the half-person-tall bluestone beside Xie Tian would give him a high chance of survival. Hearing Xie Tian's words, he struck even harder, praying that the young, impulsive, and naïve Xie Tian wouldn't run away first. He must kill this little bastard in front of everyone!

An hour went by, and Chen Feng spit out a mouthful of blood because the wolves hadn't dispersed but attacked even more fiercely.

"Little bastard, you lied to me!"

"I miscalculated the time, there's still half an hour left."

Furious enough to nearly shatter his teeth, Chen Feng could only roar to encourage himself to endure another half hour.

After another half hour, people couldn't help but laugh as the attack of the wolves continued relentlessly.

"Little beast!"

"Forty more breaths."

Hearing this, Chen Feng was unable to muster any more strength. Amidst a plethora of wolf jaws and claws, he could only occasionally strike back, spending most of his time blocking. His injuries multiplied, and he bled even more profusely.

After forty breaths, as the crowd was about to continue laughing, they saw the wolves suddenly stop attacking and quickly flee into the forest, confused for a moment. They couldn't laugh anymore.

For the third time, the disabled man hadn't lied to the expert.

But the expert was no longer an expert.

After the wolves had vanished, Chen Feng still obliviously swung several feeble punches. When he realized that the wolves had completely dispersed, he just turned around with a gaze filled with fear and resentment towards Xie Tian and bolted.

Xie Tian felt somewhat pleased. He had proved the correctness of a saying from the books - morale boosted on the first drum, weakened by the second, exhausted by the third.

Now, he intended to use the experience gained from this ordeal to hunt down Chen Feng, treating it as the final test of this training.

Wastefully using Yuan Yang to conjure two knife flurries, Xie Tian chased down the path Chen Feng had fled.

The Martial Artists followed as well, feeling compelled to see the end of this drama unfold, no matter how strange it seemed.
