Chapter 644: Cosmic Sage, Luminous Demon's Tragic End
--
The evolution of Cedric's physique happened at the same time he was immersed in the sea of laws...Light Laws, to be more specific.
Through his clone's eyes, Cedric watched as the Great Law of Light manifested before him, becoming clearer and clearer until he was finally able to make sense of it. And once this process began, it couldn't be stopped.
At the same time, great changes were happening to Cedric's main body because of the miraculous effect of the Sacred Light Fruit.
His body was sublimating in a way he never thought possible before. Cedric never thought that his physique could still improve since, in his opinion, it was already as strong as it could, but he was proven wrong.
Truly, the standards of the Primitive Universe were higher than what he imagined them to be.
As his transformation began, manifestations of laws appeared around him on their own. Animals such as sparrows, phoenixes, golden crows, scarabs, etc. started appearing around him. They're not real animals; they're mere shapes of light that were made incredibly lifelike because of his resonance with the law.
This also includes suns, auroras, and pretty much everything that has something to do with light itself.
With this transformation, Cedric's existence was synchronizing even faster than before. With his physique's evolution, his strength steadily climbed to the Cosmic Sage level, which was one step away from the Immortal Level.
The Sacred Light Fruit wouldn't be enough to actually push him to the last barrier, but it was fine. This was more than he could ask for anyway.
His inner world also expanded greatly because of this, something that shouldn't have been possible until he actually stepped into the Immortal Level but was happening now.
Previously, it had already expanded to 20 billion miles in diameter. It wasn't the maximum, but it's close, and it was only possible because he stayed within the prison, which had incomplete and unstable concept laws.
Typically, it shouldn't be this big. Immortal Level experts of the Primitive Universe only have somewhere between 10 and 30 billion miles of Inner World.
10 billion for Immortal Warriors, 20 billion for Immortal Lords, and 30 billion for Immortal Emperors. And it wasn't just the size too; there were minute differences in Inner World stages, making the gap obvious and greater than what it seems.
Cedric shouldn't even have an Inner World, all things considered. He only had one because of a mere coincidence. Moreover, Cedric isn't actually as strong as an Immortal Lord, yet he had an Inner World comparable to them, and it's still expanding now. This was an anomaly, for sure.
It's only because of his weird existence that this was allowed. Otherwise, the laws of the Primitive Universe wouldn't even permit this. Though, in reality, this wasn't unique to him. There are many out there who somehow figured out a way to break the rules and gain obvious advantages like this.
With this evolution caused by the Sacred Light Fruit, Cedric's Inner World was expanding even more. By the time this process ends, it should extend to a full 30 billion miles in diameter, which was equivalent to the origin energy reserves of an Immortal Emperor-level powerhouse.
**
Cedric's immersion and transformation lasted for a whole month before ending.
When his consciousness returned to his body, he was dazed at first. Then, as everything clicked into place, his mind returned to the present, and suddenly, his awareness bloomed.
The wrongness of the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm became even more obvious to him, but he remained indifferent about it since it doesn't affect him anymore. He's still unable to correct it without starting a 'reset,' but he also knows that someday, it should become possible for him to do so.
Surprisingly, though, his awareness actually improved a lot after his evolution. His senses could almost cover at least half of the realm at this point, which was insane to think about since the realm wasn't small in any account.
Cedric has grown way beyond what this place could contain. Yet despite its imperfections and fragility, Cedric's heart remains at ease here because it's his home. He wouldn't do anything to destroy it.
In addition to the evolution of his physique, Cedric also reached the entry level on the Great Law of Light, making great progress with that.
This was yet another great advantage that would make the common folk of the Primitive Universe jealous.
Space, Time, Fire, Sword, and now, Light...
Cedric comprehended five laws at the Great Law level, which was something more anomalous compared to him having the same origin energy reserves as an Immortal Emperor at the Cosmic Sage level.
His foundation as a Life Evolver just became even deeper, reaching a level others could only have in their wildest dreams. His advantages just keep piling up while he makes up for his deficiencies.
Shifting his focus to his clones, he took a glance at his temporary base, inspecting it briefly.
It was peaceful. There were no signs of disturbances within or outside.
Neither the big ogre, the Luminous Demon, nor any other creature that competed for the Sacred Light Fruit managed to track him down here, and that was a relief.
He wondered what happened after he left, though.
Obviously, he knew that the big ogre would lose it and would start attacking everybody. His main concern was how many it took down before it died.
'It would be great if it dragged the Luminous Demon to its death as well,' Cedric mused.
But even if it couldn't, it's no big deal. With his recent transformation, Cedric's confidence received a decent boost. He's stronger and more capable than before, which means he has more ways of ensuring his safety moving forward.
Cedric disabled the formation and stepped outside to stretch his limbs for a bit.
He scanned his surroundings once more and confirmed that there were no other creatures nearby aside from him.
Then, he waved his hand and summoned an aurora, which blanketed a thousand-mile radius around him. He closed his eyes and felt everything this light touched. It was a tactile feedback too, which was incredible.
Dismissing that, his eyes flashed, and suddenly, his clones multiplied. Thousands of him appeared from out of nowhere. Each mirroring his movement perfectly.
No, his clone didn't actually multiply. These were just mirror images. They're made of hard light but are more fragile than his actual clone. This trick was mostly just to confuse his foes because Cedric could freely and seamlessly switch places with the mirror image at any given moment. Though, this has a limitation in distance.
Light manipulation, light illusions, light transmutations...all the tricks and skills he could think of, he performed using the Great Law of Light, and Cedric was more than thrilled.
His strength just climbed to another level, making him more qualified to explore the death zone and find an actual exit this time.
But before he could do that, Cedric had to actually stabilize his realm first, which would still take some time. The recent synchronization made his control a little messed up, which normally happens with every breakthrough, so he's used to it.
And so, stabilize is what he did.
He didn't go far from the base; he didn't need to sit down anymore either. He just needs to stretch his body and refamiliarize himself with his abilities on a slightly stronger scale.
For this, Cedric's real body had to come out. His clones were only clones, after all, no matter how close they are to his actual abilities. There are just a few things that need a personal touch.
There's practically no risk here since he had his clones on guard duty. They're patrolling the surroundings vigilantly and would alert him if there's any intruder nearby.
By some chance, one of his clones felt something as it patrolled the area.
He discovered traces of battle not too far from his base. This alarmed him at first, but glancing carefully at the site, he discovered that it shouldn't be a big deal.
Using Time Laws, he peered through the past to see what happened here, and what he saw actually surprised him.
'The Luminous Demon ended up escaping, but it died here? What are the odds'
That's right. The past revealed how the Luminous Demon, with almost half of its body missing and being incredibly weak, managed to flee all the way here.
Somehow, it was able to escape the mad rage of the big ogre, but with a steep cost, nearly dying in the process.
It initially thought that it was safe and thus lowered its guard. It planned on hiding here until it recovered enough. Its remaining energy was originally enough to have a complete recovery after a whole year of slumber.
Alas, it was too careless. Its apparent weakness prevented it from discovering that it actually intruded upon the lair of another strange creature.
Said creature should be weaker than the Luminous Demon, but since it was injured, the other creature smelled blood and attacked. Both died in the clash, and their rotting remains were buried here.
'Poor thing. You got really close, but I suppose the will of the Primitive Universe doesn't have any kind feelings towards you.'
