"What? The southern provinces have fallen?" Mika frowned slightly, reading the urgent report that had been rushed to the capital.
"I thought Mellie dispatched a significant force to the southern provinces? I didn't expect the Revolutionary Army to break through their defenses."
"It is quite surprising," Mellie admitted. "But it also demonstrates the Revolutionary Army's strength. They're not to be underestimated."
Even she hadn't anticipated such a decisive victory. Despite her precautions, they had managed to achieve a significant breakthrough.
"Strong, you say?" Mika chuckled. "The stronger they are, the more excited I become." He turned to Mellie. "How are the preparations for our troops coming along?"
"Everything is ready. We can depart at any moment."
"Then tomorrow it is. No need to wait for an auspicious date. We will be victorious," Mika declared, his voice filled with confidence as he gazed toward the distant horizon.
"Understood. I'll finalize the arrangements," Mellie replied with a smile, leaving to carry out his orders.
…
The next day, at the Imperial Capital's train station, soldiers boarded the trains, preparing for the expedition.
Mika sat in the foremost car, accompanied by Kurome.
He hadn't brought any other Teigu users. After all, his primary objective for this campaign was to test his new Teigu.
With his current strength, individual Teigu users from the Revolutionary Army were no match for him. Only a combined assault from all of them would provide a worthy challenge.
Therefore, he had denied both Tatsumi and Esdeath's requests to accompany him.
As for Kurome? Airmid had insisted. After all, she was Kurome's superior and had assigned her to be Mika's personal guard.
It wouldn't be appropriate for her to remain in the palace while Mika, the Emperor, was on the battlefield.
"Excuse me." Tsukuyomi entered, pushing a cart laden with food and drinks.
"Master, I've brought refreshments."
Mika glanced at the offerings and shook his head. "I'm not hungry. You can leave it for now."
"Yes, Master." She placed the cart to the side and stood beside him, awaiting further instructions.
Kurome, who had been sitting nearby, licked her lips and stealthily approached the cart.
Mika chuckled, observing her actions from the corner of his eye.
For this expedition, he had only brought Kurome and Tsukuyomi.
Their combined strength was more than sufficient.
While he fought, they could prevent any interference, allowing him to unleash his full power.
"Revolutionary Army, here I come," he thought, gazing out the window at the passing scenery.
…
"Headquarters has decided: the decisive battle will take place at Mount Farm," Najenda announced to her assembled comrades.
Upon returning to the Revolutionary Army, she had been appointed as one of its leaders, still commanding the former members of Night Raid.
Bulat and Leone were now generals, their battlefield prowess earning them numerous accolades.
Akame was the captain of the Revolutionary Army's assassination unit, with Sheele as her second-in-command. They continued their previous roles.
Lubbock was now Najenda's aide and bodyguard, protecting her on the front lines.
The Revolutionary Army's leadership consisted primarily of strategists and administrators, skilled in logistics, planning, and resource management.
Direct command of troops in battle was their weakness. After all, true military commanders were forged in the fires of war.
However, the Revolutionary Army's leadership wasn't inflexible.
They placed great trust in those who defected from the Empire, especially Najenda.
After all, she had abandoned her position as an Imperial General and joined their cause when they were still weak, a testament to her loyalty.
Therefore, Najenda, with her experience as an Imperial General, was the natural choice for leading their forces on the front lines.
"Mount Farm? But isn't that the city closest to the Imperial Capital?" Leone asked, surprised. "Are we engaging them directly?"
"Yes. Our first battle against the Empire will be the decisive one."
Seeing their confused expressions, Najenda's voice turned serious. "According to our intelligence, the Emperor himself is leading the Imperial forces."
"The Emperor is personally leading the attack?!"
"Are we that important to him?" Leone couldn't help but scoff.
"Who knows? Perhaps only the Emperor himself knows the answer,"
Najenda replied, shaking her head.
"But regardless, we will be facing the Emperor directly. Remember that Flame Sword we witnessed in the capital? We can't afford to underestimate him."
"Against the Emperor, we must use our full strength. Prolonging the fight is pointless."
"Therefore, after discussions with the leadership, we will confront the Imperial army at Mount Farm."
"And there, we will fight our decisive battle."
Night Raid fell silent, contemplating the gravity of the situation.
"What about the other Teigu users?" Akame asked, breaking the silence.
"The Emperor wouldn't come alone." Her eyes burned with fighting spirit and determination.
"Whether it's fortunate or unfortunate, the Emperor is only bringing Kurome,"
Najenda replied with a small smile. "Although Kurome is strong, she's only one person. This is a golden opportunity for us."
"A chance to turn the tide."
"So this is Mount Farm." Mika looked out from his chariot at the massive army assembled beneath the city walls. They were the forces of the Revolutionary Army.
"A decisive battle right from the start?"
He instantly understood their intentions; it was far too obvious. However, it was a welcome development.
A drawn-out guerilla war wouldn't provide the same thrill as a direct confrontation with their main force.
But before the battle began, Mika had other matters to attend to.
"Go. Deliver the offer of amnesty and the decree."
"Yes, Master." Tsukuyomi took the prepared documents and walked towards the city.
The soldiers at the front lines tensed as they saw her approach alone.
A lone figure entering their ranks reminded them of Esdeath, who had single-handedly slaughtered forty thousand enemy soldiers. They couldn't help but tremble.
"Don't be afraid. She's not Esdeath," Bulat reassured his troops. His words calmed them. During his time as a general, he had earned their trust and respect.
"State your name and purpose!" he called out to Tsukuyomi.
"I am an envoy of His Majesty the Emperor, here to deliver a message and a decree to the leader of the Revolutionary Army," she replied calmly, unfazed by the massive army before her.
Her composure stemmed not only from her nature as a Teigu but also from her absolute confidence in her strength.
"An envoy? In times of war, envoys are spared. Bring her in." After a brief hesitation, Bulat ordered his men to escort her into the city.
"Wait." As they passed each other, Bulat suddenly stopped her. He felt a strange sense of familiarity.
"Have we met before?"
"No," Tsukuyomi replied, her expression unchanged. As Mika and Gabriel's creation, she possessed human-like intelligence.
She understood Bulat's question but didn't consider her former self, Susanoo, to be the same person. As Tsukuyomi, this was her first encounter with him.
"Is that so?" Despite her denial, Bulat's suspicion grew. "Leone, take my place. I'll escort her into the city myself."
"Understood." Leone, sensing his unease, nodded and took his position, watching as he led Tsukuyomi into Mount Farm.
…
"A message and a decree from the Emperor?" Najenda took the proffered documents, a wry smile touching her lips. "What could he be planning? Some kind of psychological tactic?"
Without opening them, she turned to her comrades. "Keep an eye on her. I'll take these to the leader."
"Yes, Boss."
Najenda quickly departed, returning moments later, her face etched with worry.
"What's wrong, Najenda?" Bulat asked, concerned.
Ignoring his question, she tossed the unopened documents back to Tsukuyomi. "Take these back. We will not surrender."
"Understood. I'll relay your message to His Majesty." Tsukuyomi turned to leave.
"Wait!" Najenda called out. "Have we met before?"
"No. This is our first encounter," Tsukuyomi replied calmly.
"You also feel like you've seen her somewhere? I thought it was just me," Bulat interjected.
"Really? You feel it too?"
"I do as well," Lubbock added.
Najenda turned to Lubbock. "Do you know of Susanoo?"
"Yes. He was my previous form. I was created from his core."
"What?! This beautiful girl is Susanoo?!" Lubbock exclaimed. "Damn, is this the Emperor's power? Such…depravity! It's unforgivable!"
"I'm so jealous!" He wailed, having read many stories with similar transformations.
"Susanoo…" Najenda couldn't help but smile wryly.
Susanoo, her former Teigu, a master chef and a valued companion, was now their enemy. "What a twist of fate." She shook her head. "You may leave."
Tsukuyomi departed swiftly.
"Our chances of victory have just decreased significantly," Najenda said grimly, watching her go.
"Although the Emperor hasn't brought many Teigu users, those he has brought are among the strongest."
"Once Susanoo activates his Magatama Manifestation, we'll be hard-pressed to defeat him."
Her worry intensified.
…
"Master, the Revolutionary Army has rejected your offer of amnesty," Tsukuyomi reported upon her return.
"That was expected. I foresaw this outcome," Mika replied with a chuckle.
"Then why bother sending her?" Kurome asked, puzzled.
"To let them know they have a choice," he explained. "In my message, I outlined my intentions and offered them a chance to join me."
"Though they've refused for now, they know it's an option. They're no longer cornered."
"Now, we simply need to force their hand."
With that, he shouted, "Attack!" and charged forward in his chariot.
