DXD Issei: The Mind of Games

A little shorter chapter than usual. This chapter was placed in a weird place.

"What the hell is that?" Poking a slug on the ground, Issei continued watching the thing move away from him. "It's green." Issei continued poking it in amusement of seeing the slug roll and get back up.

How did he get here? Well, he woke up after getting his ass handed to him by Artemis and saw her sleeping next to him. Learning from his mistake, Issei simply remained in bed and turned on the TV. Making sure that the volume wasn't too high, he continued watching a couple of shows that he greatly missed. The morning came and Artemis woke up to Issei. What were the words that the woman said? 

"If I don't see you again when I want you near me, then you better be ready for hell."

Luckily, Artemis had to leave immediately as she forgot to help her little huntresses with a certain task which she was supposed to tell them the night before, but it slipped her mind. Giving Issei a quick peck on the cheek and disappearing, Issei decided to adventure the forest and here he was. The most amusing thing he has found is a slug that continued crawling around. Now he was just bothering the poor fellow.

"Woah! Give this man a reward for stating the fucking obvious."

"Fuck you, Ddraig!"

"Love you too, partner!"

Bickering with Ddraig, Issei continued poking the slug. Taking a simple stick and forcing the slug to roll over again while Issei continued being amused by the little creature. Could this be considered animal abuse? 

"How does my partner go from fighting against his girlfriend to fighting against his desire to poking and torturing this slug?"

"This isn't torture. This is simply just me messing around with the little guy."

Before anything could be said, Elsha decided that she could take a jab at Issei. "Oh, how the mighty have fallen. The once brave warrior brought down to poking such poor creatures like a simpleton."

"Shut up, you hag!"

The two began laughing at Issei's anger while continuing to bother him. Before long, the sun began setting and the moon began brilliantly shining its glorious night upon the ground. Not too long after this, a summoning circle appeared before Issei and out came Lucifer.

Sirzechs watched as Issei was in the middle of throwing his stick. "What are you doing?"

Turning to Sirzechs, Issei simply composed himself with a straight face and lowered his stick down to the ground. "Don't worry about it. Now, what do you want?"

Sirzechs sighed knowing he wasn't going to get an answer from Issei even if he pestered him... He had tried it with his sister many times and it never worked out. "I just wanted to let you know that there will be a very important meeting soon enough where you will be needed to show up. Odin from the Norse Pantheon has decided to sign a treaty to make peace with us. You may not be a devil, but you sure as hell mean a lot to my family and our entire race."

Blinking a couple of times, Issei really didn't want to do another quest where he needed to show up at a meeting where many of the greats would present themselves. He knew from the back of his head that there was bound to be something or someone that will try to mess the meeting up. There was no denying that this meeting would be a hotspot for disaster.

"Do I have to go?" Issei whined.

"It would be very unfortunate that I would have to tell the Great Odin that the one person that the old man wanted to see wouldn't be showing up at the meeting." Being dramatic as he could be, Sirzechs began wiping away fake tears before continuing," Then our little alliance would have to suffer alone without the help of a single Pantheon. Think about it... you would be bringing forth the beginning of a new era where the Pantheons would begin to considered joining our alliance. All of them have begun looking at you with great interest."

Issei was screaming in his head about how he didn't want that. He didn't want to be recognized because that meant more enemies. Judging by the stories that he has heard, each pantheon has their own monsters as enemies that would gladly want to take him under their wing or just outright kill him.

Seeing Issei not being persuaded by his attempts at drama, which were horrible, Sirzechs came up with another plan that kids Issei's age would love to hear, "How about this, if you show up to this meeting, I can help you out with skipping an entire week of school without having to make up all the missing work? Just a free week for you to do anything you want."

Widening his eyes, Issei knew the potential opportunity that came with this offer. With an entire week to himself, Issei could completely ignore the outside world and focus on developing new and more powerful skills. No supernatural world for a week sounded almost too good to be true and add in the benefit of skipping school all together was something Issei couldn't resist.

"Fine... You win this time Sirzechs."

Shooting his arm into the air while smiling, Sirzechs finally came out victorious.

Failure: Reputation with the Alliance will deteriorate greatly

At least the penalty isn't that bad. Shaking Sirzechs's hand and walking away before hearing the teleportation circle underneath Sirzechs disappear, Issei was left all alone once more with his own thoughts.

"What the hell do I do in between the meeting and now? I don't have any main quests to finish." That was when Issei got a brilliant idea. "SIDE QUESTS!"

While Issei was speaking to himself, Ddraig and Elsha turned to each other in the Boosted Gear. "What is he on about 'side quests' and 'main quests'?"

Ddraig simply shrugged his shoulders and sighed, "He tends to be in his own world at times. I tried asking him, but he wouldn't let me know a single detail."

It had been a while since Issei heard from Artemis.
