Dragon Ball: I Am Broly

Chapter 8: Ready

"WHAT?! Frieza was resurrected four months ago… how?"

Broly was startled, quickly grabbing Cheelai's slender arms as he asked anxiously.

He couldn't help but feel nervous. He needed answers about the timeline he was in.

Cheelai frowned in pain. "What are you doing?! That hurts!"

"Sigh… sorry, sorry"

Realizing once again that he hadn't controlled his strength, Broly quickly apologized.

Cheelai fell to the ground, rubbing her arms while muttering irritably, "I don't understand how guys like you train to get that absurd strength."

"It's easy."

Broly nodded, responding calmly, "If you train seriously, you could also make a hole like that."

He said this while pointing toward the crater in the distance.

He wasn't lying. After all, a pure human like Krillin reached a power level of 600,000. Even Yamcha had surpassed a thousand units of power.

If an Earthling could do it, how couldn't an alien like Cheelai, who had innate abilities?

"Train? Not a chance!"

Cheelai shook her head quickly before adding, "Don't you want to know how Frieza was resurrected? To be honest, I don't know. I only heard that someone named Sorbet used some spheres to bring him back."

Upon hearing what Cheelai said…

"Spheres?"

Broly's eyes lit up. Obviously, she was referring to the Dragon Balls.

Now he was sure this timeline was different from the one he remembered.

In the anime, Frieza had been resurrected by Whis after his performance in the Tournament of Power.

But here, things were different. His arrival seemed to have caused a butterfly effect, altering the events.

From what he understood, this must take place after the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods arc, when Frieza was revived by Sorbet.

Everything was about to begin.

Broly might be able to use this to go directly to Earth.

He looked at Cheelai and curiously asked, "Why did you join Frieza's forces?"

Cheelai crossed her arms with a proud expression. "I stole a ship from the Galactic Patrol. As long as I'm with Frieza, they won't dare chase me."

It was exactly as Broly remembered.

Cheelai and Lemo were basically the same, but the timeline had moved forward.

"You obviously did something wrong, but you seem happy about it."

Broly couldn't help but smile slightly. "What a bad woman."

"Hmph!" Cheelai placed her hands on her hips and retorted, "Do you still want us to get you off Vampa?"

Broly responded without hesitation, "Lemo's distress signal has already been sent. Even without you, Frieza's forces will come for me because of my combat power."

Lemo, who had just successfully sent the signal, smiled awkwardly.

Cheelai also understood that Broly was right.

But she snorted coldly. "Anyway, we only came because of that signal. Is this how you treat your saviors?"

This time Broly didn't hesitate. He simply clasped his hands together, bowing slightly as he humbly said,

"You're right. I was wrong. You are my savior."

In truth, if anyone should be grateful, it was them.

After all, he had saved them from those creatures.

But Broly didn't want to get tangled up with Cheelai any further.

Cheelai nodded, satisfied.

"Not bad. I forgive you for being rude."

Broly sighed, shaking his head.

Silence fell over the group until…

"Grrrr…"

The sound of a stomach broke the calm.

Broly's sharp ears instantly picked it up.

It was Cheelai.

He glanced at her, noticing how she avoided his gaze while nervously humming a tune.

"The ship was destroyed, and the supplies are gone," Cheelai said, trying to shift the attention. "It's normal to be hungry. Lemo, are you hungry too?"

Lemo responded immediately, "I'm starving."

Alright!

"I'll get food. Wait here."

With a stomp, Broly took off, leaving a powerful gust of wind behind him.

Cheelai frantically tried to fix her hair, muttering, "This guy… no wonder he's so strong. If I had long hair, I'd be in trouble."

"If it weren't for my short hair, I'd be in trouble."

Lemo, sitting on the ground, laughed as he said, "It's impossible to survive on a planet like this without adapting. If you want to live here, you have to fight."

"I guess…" Cheelai nodded, resigned.

Not long after, Broly returned, carrying two massive spider legs.

Without saying a word, he tore off a piece of one leg, causing a viscous, honey-colored liquid to flow out.

"Here, eat."

Cheelai, driven by hunger, didn't hesitate. She scooped up some of the liquid with her hand and tasted it.

And then…

"Huugh… ugh-ugh-GHHRK!"
