DC Heroes in Marvel

Chapter 159: C142

Originally, before the Superman movie was released, Jim had also planned to hold a grand premiere, inviting many celebrities to watch the film.

Normal blockbuster films usually go through this process, and of course, their own project shouldn't be any different.

But the news of the alien invasion caused a worldwide sensation, stirring up excitement across the globe. Jim seized the opportunity, got Anton's approval, and decided to release the Superman movie ahead of schedule.

This change disrupted Jim's original plan.

The premiere was canceled.

If they had insisted, it wouldn't have been impossible, but contacting busy celebrities just a few days in advance and coordinating schedules would have been impractical.

It's worth mentioning that Jim had actually done this once before.

When Batman broke the 600 million box office worldwide, a celebration party was held, and it was pushed forward by a day under Anton's unexpected insistence.

The difference was that the guests for the celebration had been contacted long before.

Although it was a day earlier, everyone was willing to go along with it, putting aside their own plans for that night to enjoy the occasion.

This time, however, there weren't the same prerequisites for Superman's release, and Jim couldn't be bothered to spend time organizing a premiere.

With that effort, posting two more trailers was a more practical and effective approach.

As Jim expected, the announcement of Superman was a success, and within a week, it had attracted most people's attention.

Among them were groups of movie lovers, teens drawn to the alien storyline, as well as fans of DC characters like Batman and cyborg.

Especially the latter group.

They knew that in the original novels and comics, Superman was not only an alien, but also one of the seven core members of the Justice League, and a comrade-in-arms of superheroes like Batman.

In the real world, according to the Daily Bugle report, Batman had actually formed the Justice League, a superhero team much like the stories in the comics.

In the recent alien invasion, Batman even led the newly formed Justice League to save the Earth.

Fans were excited.

There had always been a rumor among DC's fanbase: Batman, Arrow, and cyborg were already present in the real world, so were the remaining heroes on their way?

They even worked out a pattern:

Two of the three heroes corresponding to DC's storyline already had their own standalone movies.

As for why Arrow had no movie, they didn't know.

But that didn't stop them from eagerly awaiting the Superman movie.

After the movie's release, would Superman, aka Clark Kent, appear in the real world just as they'd imagined?

A superhero from an alien planet!

With these thoughts in mind, DC fans flocked to cinemas one after another.

...

The movie was released as scheduled.

Eddie took a leave of absence from Anton and went with his girlfriend, April, to watch Superman.

Anton approved Eddie's leave for the sake of generating income for himself.

What Anton didn't know was that not only Eddie, but also Tony Stark, all the way in Los Angeles, couldn't resist his curiosity and went to the theater.

Even S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Nick Fury, Coulson, Hawkeye, and Natasha made arrangements to watch the movie as part of an effort to generate income for Anton.

However, these individuals weren't there to enjoy the film—they were there to analyze Superman's image.

They knew the deeper mystery of DC.

Though they didn't understand why Batman, Arrow, and cyborg appeared, they were aware that these three had a close connection with DC, or Anton, and that they were closely tied together.

So, the next comic hero that belonged to DC—was it this alien Superman?

Was this a hint from Anton when the movie was released?

This kind of dark humor is beyond the comprehension of Fury and the others.

But they couldn't rule out the possibility.

So, they unanimously decided to enter the movie theater, intending to see in advance what kind of story this character, nicknamed "Superman," Clark Kent, would play in the virtual movie world.

...

The movie begins.

As shown in the first trailer, Krypton, where Superman is from, was completely destroyed due to the abnormal gravitational pull of a star.

After Jor-El, the leading scientist of Krypton, issued this warning, the Science Council thought he was merely scaremongering.

So, before Krypton's explosion, Jor-El and his wife placed their young son, Kal-El, in a spacecraft and hurriedly sent him to the vastness of space to preserve the hope of Krypton.

Kal-El was adopted by Earthling Jonathan Kent and given the name Clark Kent.

...

Fury and the others watched the beginning of the story and fell into deep contemplation one after another.

Krypton!

An alien!

At the start of the movie, they weren't just shocked—they felt a sense of awe.

They all agreed that Superman might be a real character, just like the three already-known heroes: Batman, Arrow, and cyborg.

At this point, despite the changes in the background, they couldn't help but wonder if the identities of the characters in the movie overlapped with those in reality.

Before this, most of them had considered the backgrounds of characters like Batman to be largely fictional.

After all, in the stories, Gotham City, where Batman operates, and Star City, where Arrow resides, are place names that never existed in real life and seemed more like allusions to reality.

Midtown, where cyborg is located, seemed similarly fictional.

The difference was that the alien technology on cyborg was hard to comprehend.

The firmest belief among them was that cyborg's technology indeed came from aliens, and not just anyone—Tony Stark, also thought so.

What no one knew was that Tony and cyborg had briefly crossed paths. Tony had carefully examined the technology on him.

The technology was fundamentally different from anything on Earth.

Tony sensed something was off.

Especially the energy source powering the cyborg. Its almost endless energy was entirely different from Tony's Arc Reactor.

Tony was certain that cyborg's body, as depicted in the movie, was a semi-human, semi-mechanical, biochemical entity.

Energy was a vital element sustaining cyborg's function—like blood in a human body.

Without energy, he was essentially dead, and his consciousness wouldn't work. This technology was at least one era ahead of Earth's capabilities.

Tony believed he could create a robot, but he couldn't create something like cyborg.

In short, after only the brain remains of a human body, could it be transformed into a "cyborg"? Tony's answer was no.

Now, the Superman movie has been released.

Superman comes from Krypton.

Krypton!

Could such a planet truly exist in the universe?

Kryptonians!

Could Superman really be an alien hiding on Earth?

As they watched Superman grow up under the care of his adoptive father Jonathan Kent and begin to show his abilities, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Tony Stark squinted in surprise, deep in thought.

Fury even considered getting a pager to have a serious conversation with Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers, who was several galaxies away, about the problem of Krypton.
