Crazy Detective: I Have The System To Change The World.

Chapter 17: Chapter 17

The two robbers bolted, their panic evident in their uneven strides as they weaved through the chaos. Their hands fumbled with their guns, turning back to fire wildly in Kai's direction. Bullets ricocheted off nearby walls and cars, but none came close to hitting Kai.

And they couldn't see Kai, who was making such the bullet doesn't hit any citizens.

"Where the hell is he?!"

one of them shouted, his voice cracking under the weight of fear. His eyes darted around, searching for the figure who seemed to move like a ghost.

"I don't know!" the other hissed, his grip on his weapon tightening. "Just keep running!"

Kai didn't flinch. He stood calm and composed, his eyes locked on their retreating figures. He didn't need to give chase. Raising his weapon with practiced ease, he took a steady breath and squeezed the trigger.

The first robber stumbled mid-step, a sharp cry escaping his lips as he clutched his leg and fell to the pavement.

However the second barely managed another two strides before Kai's shot found its mark, dropping him with a well-placed hit to the shoulder.

At that moment both men writhed on the ground, their weapons clattering out of reach. The street fell silent, save for their groans of pain and the faint echo of Kai's measured footsteps as he approached.

However the three officers who huddled behind their patrol car, their breaths uneven as the echoes of gunfire faded into silence. Their eyes darted toward Kai, who strode through the chaos with a calmness that seemed almost inhuman.

At that moment they couldn't believe what they were seeing, even though Kai was one of the best shutters they have in the force, but what they just saw was out of this world.

For a lone officer taking down Seven rubbers.

All of them gaze at each other.

"This… this can't be real,"

Officer Grant muttered, gripping the car's edge tightly.

"They buried him. His name's off the books."

At that moment Officer Daniels swallowed hard, his voice trembling.

"Maybe… maybe it's his ghost. He's here to take us with him."

He shook his head in disappointment.

" I know I died, I know it."

"Ghosts don't shoot people like that,"

Ramirez hissed, though his wide eyes betrayed his uncertainty.

Daniels however shook his head, his voice trembling.

"No… that can't be real. He's dead. We all knew it."

"Then what the hell is this?" Ramirez muttered, his eyes darting between the robbers on the ground and Kai, who now stood in eerie silence.

At that moment the three police officers slowly stood up, their legs unsteady as they emerged from behind the patrol car. Their eyes widened in disbelief as they surveyed the scene before them. Every single robber lay on the ground, wounded but alive, groaning in pain and clutching their injuries.

One officer whispered,

"He didn't kill... anyone."

Another nodded, his voice filled with amazement. "Every shot was clean, precise. He only hit their arms and legs."

The third officer, still clutching his weapon, muttered, "How is that even possible?"

Without wasting another second, the officers moved into action. They approached the fallen robbers, their disbelief giving way to professionalism. One by one, they snapped cuffs onto the criminals and taking the guns away, securing them before calling again for backup to transport them to the station.

However Kai stood silently nearby, his arms crossed, watching as the officers worked. He didn't say a word, letting his actions speak for themselves.

However he thought the system would pop out any messages warming him if not killing them or even going for that mission, but everything seems alright, which means he must have done the right thing and the system was satisfied.

The officers however cast occasional glances his way, their earlier skepticism now replaced with respect.

Not long after backup arrived and they joined in cleaning the mess.

By the time the last robber was cuffed and hauled to his feet, the scene was under control, the chaos subdued.

They ride back to the station was filled with a buzz of excitement. The officers who had witnessed the shootout couldn't stop talking about what they'd seen.

As they stepped inside, the entire precinct erupted into cheers. Word had spread fast—Kai, the man believed to be dead, had taken down a team of heavily armed robbers single-handedly.

Officers clapped him on the back, some shaking their heads in disbelief.

"Kai, you're a damn legend!" one of them said, grinning ear to ear. "We need you back, man. The force isn't the same without you."

Another chimed in, "He's got to come back, Chief! You heard what he did out there."

The chief stood off to the side, his arms crossed, watching the scene unfold. His face was unreadable as Kai approached him, his expression calm but hopeful.

"Chief," Kai began, his voice steady despite the pretending in his face "This is what I do. It's what I'm meant to do. I love this job. I've always loved it. Let me come back."

The chief studied him for a long moment, his lips pressing into a thin line. Then, slowly, he nodded. "You've got guts, Kai. I'll give you that."

Kai's heart leapt. He fought the urge to grin like a kid knowing he's going to put his eyes on the chief from now on, but the relief and joy were too much to contain. He opened his arms slightly, hesitating before stepping forward. "Chief, you don't know how much this means to me. I could—"

Before he could finish, the station doors swung open with a sharp creak. Everyone turned as a group of federal officers strode in, their dark suits and grim expressions cutting through the celebratory atmosphere.

The lead agent, a tall man with sharp features, held up a badge. "Kai," he said, his tone cold and professional.

"you're under arrest."

The room fell silent, the cheers and laughter evaporating in an instant. Kai's smile vanished as his gaze locked with the agent's. His hands twitched slightly at his sides, but he didn't move. The officers around him exchanged shocked glances, their excitement replaced with confusion and disbelief.
