Chapter 3 - Spell and Soul
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Eve Everett, the most beautiful witch in Shadowmoon." said the witch with a bright orange trim on her black hat, matching her dark robe.
"Eve, Kaizoku is the one who managed to enter our world..." said Sylphy.
Eve suddenly covered her mouth in mild surprise after heard the news about him.
"Oh? That's unexpected. No wonder his clothes look so strange." Eve commented, her eyes glancing over Kaizoku's cowboy attire.
Kaizoku frowned, feeling slightly insulted. "Seriously? this outfit automatically appeared on me when I got transferred to this world. I'd change it immediately if I could."
Hearing Kaizoku's complaint, Eve summoned her staff, a wooden rod with a glowing green orb. "Green Jade!"
The staff materialized in her hand, its green jewel shining brightly. "Let me change your clothes for you."
The green orb glowed brightly... but nothing happened. "Huh? That's odd... Your clothes should have changed by now." Eve waved the staff again, attempting the spell a second time.
...Still, nothing happened. "Impossible. I can't change your clothes." she said, growing more puzzled. When she tried for a third time, the Green Jade staff vanished from her hand on its own.
"Well, that's surprising." Eve said, giving up and returning to her seat.
Kaizoku sighed in resignation, accepting his fate.
"Don't be discouraged, Kaizoku-san. Eve can teach you how to use spells!" she said excitedly, her mood quickly shifting.
"Spe—" Kaizoku began to ask, but Eve cut him off.
"Yes! Spells! Magic is born from our energy! And energy comes from our soul!"
"...So?" Kaizoku asked, but Eve gently placed a finger over his lips.
"Eve isn't done explaining yet. Energy is created by our souls, and in order to generate energy, you must believe that energy exists. If you don't believe in it, then it will never manifest."
"Eve conjured a glowing image, a holographic Spell Tree that outlined how to create energy and cast spells.
"Hmm... Well, I've always believed that other worlds besides mine exist. And honestly, I'm not that surprised or confused. So it shouldn't be too hard to believe in energy,"
Kaizoku said, closing his eyes and focusing deeply.
Although fantasy worlds weren't his first love, they were certainly his second.
Kaizoku began to feel energy coursing through his body, flowing like blood through his veins. "I can feel it..." he murmured, astonished.
Eve placed her right hand on Kaizoku's head. "Now, I want you to create a spell of your own."
Without hesitation, Kaizoku focused his newfound magic on the revolver he had recently purchased. "My revolver... I believe it has magic, and the bullets will pierce through anything."
As Kaizoku concentrated on his spell, Eve removed her hand from his head.
Kaizoku opened his eyes, expecting to see something incredible, but instead, he panicked after he tried to pick it up the revolver.
His revolver was gone from his pocket. "Huh... Wha—? my revolver! It's missing!" he yelled, jumping up from his chair.
"Kaizoku-san, don't panic... You can summon it back using the spell 'Call' but only if you've given your weapon a name," Eve said calmly, though Kaizoku's face was still frozen in panic.
"How do I do that!?"
"It's very simple, Kaizoku-san. You just need to believe that the weapon belongs to you."
Kaizoku closed his eyes again, this time remembering how much he valued his revolver. After all, he had purchased it with such excitement. He knew it was his.
"Now, Kaizoku-san, you just need to give it a name." Eve said, holding both of his hands. Kaizoku furrowed his brows, deep in thought as he considered the perfect name for his revolver.
"A name... A name... Revolver Morgan Special? That's too long, I should shorten it to... to Des—"
